The night has not gone as planned.

With the help of the unicorn Nick Starkweater, Faith O'Keefe used her dreamwalking powers to take Violet and her new husband Luthir into Vi's dreams to face down the shadow remnant of Malaak'a that had consumed her nightmares and prevented her spirit from returning to full strength with the return of spring. Keijen Blade's warning, however, that such an attempt would end in blood, proved true: Luthir gave his life to allow Vi to do what must be done.

Meanwhile, the 'reconnaissance' mission meant to gather intel on what Keijen Blade was doing at his concerts went south when several of the team members fell prey to Blade's compulsion. After almost prompting Archer and Rose to commit suicide onstage in front of an eager crowd, Blade let the team walk out with their lives, which was almost as unsettling as the power he'd displayed in controlling such a large mass of people.

No one is really in the mood or shape to take a flight that night, so it's crashing at a hotel for the Knights tonight.

Some people might need the sleep, while others may be less than able to get any. Feel free to single-thread tag what your character is up to at 4AM or so.

[ since she's not allowed out in a city full of fucking bridges due to a finnick shaped veto (thanks, rafael, thanks, she can't even take walks by herself because of you), vi has retreated to the television because she has absolutely no desire to sleep. just silently crying at infomercials. bacon bowls. she has a pillow in her lap covered in tears, sitting in the middle of the couch with room for her besties on either side. all she wants is luthir, but myri and finnick are her only solace right now. oh. and those flowers in the vase next to the tv? they're dead. ]

[It's a very quiet Rose who has taken up position near a window that looks out over the city, her face a neutral mask and yet there's barely controlled anger hiding beneath it as the 'don't talk to me vibes' can probably be felt in all five boroughs.

She's playing with a phone, using map-quest to try and see if there's a church within walking distance that would even be open at this time of night. (Search 18). Denomination didn't matter, she wasn't religious but it was where she wanted to be right now for reasons she couldn't really begin to explain. Because this is what Rose does when her Mentors die.

Rose hasn't cried. In fact, she hasn't had any sort of emotional reaction to the news of Luthir. She'd gotten the facts as best as anyone was able to explain and hadn't said a word to anyone since. It was very possible that wasn't going to change any time soon.]

[Myri spends most of her time now with Vi. Or with Finnick, where they probably talk about Vi. She still feels terrible that she couldn't do anything to save him, but doesn't want to apologize for it and make Vi feel like she needs to talk about him. So she's quiet and worried.]

[isisagent]

[A sharp clink denotes Archer sliding a second empty bottle aside, as he reaches for a third. He deftly pops open the bottle of Glengoolie Blue, and pours himself yet another neat double. Archer is posted near the kitchenette area, angry drinking.

He didn't really know Luthir well. Hell, he only knows about half the people in the damn room "well." He doesn't talk to Vi much, never really got the inside scoop on her issues - despite his own little fun-time with Malaak'a in the hourglass - BUT he's already pissed about how the concert went, and everyone being depressed just ratchets up his anger level. This is like the third time in his life he's been mind-controlled, and he's probably just going to shoot the next telepath he sees on principle alone.]

Fuck this city. [He mutters quietly.]

[With his wisdom check of 23, Spike's smart enough NOT to go ask Vi about the mind control thing for Nadia's sake. She's mourning her husband. He'll ask the other people, if he sees them awake, but for now, he's on the balcony smoking and checking his texts. If Buffy's just ignoring him or off shagging Rafael without her phone, he will personally strangle her. Perhaps his recent kidnapping left him paranoid, but he's not comfortable not knowing where his friends are and if they're ok.]

[The phone Rose was using to search maps on, has been vibrating now at regular intervals, telling her she has a message. Anyone happening to be paying attention will see her anger and annoyance grow, the brunette punching the keys hard as she shoots back another text.]

[ tia isn't sleeping either. the psychic resonance in this room is pretty painful to deal with, so she's made herself some coffee and is sitting by the window, looking out at the view afforded over the hudson from the hotel, her expression hella stoic. she's been with the knights long enough to see plenty of deaths in the field but this one in particularly is more tragic than most. ]

[it's not like finnick knew luthir that well, but vi is his bestie and he knows it's his bestie duty to be there for her. so he's trying to do that, even if it's just silently sitting next to her watching about bacon bowls for awhile. and forbidding her from going outside alone. right now he's just pouring himself a drink and trying his very best to ignore archer. sorry archer.]

[bigbad]

[When Spike finishes his cigarette, he goes back inside and takes a seat next to Tia. If she's not sleeping, he's not gonna hold off on bugging her. And as the resident telepath, she's probably a good person to talk to.]

Nadia needs our help.

[telekinect]

[ tia frowns, because you never fucking answered her on how nadia was in the first place spike before you went crazy and ran away. but she can put two and two together. ] ... The other singer?

[Rose is far too busy scowling at the screen of her phone to join in with anything going on around her but as said phone starts to ring, she stands up with a start and stalks off into one of the empty rooms, closing the door behind her.]

[Myri has dozed off but isn't truly asleep. She's on a chair, curled up for now. But as she fades in and out of consciousness, she catches that name. Nadia. (Listen 29) Sitting straighter, she turns towards Spike.]

You saw her?

[isisagent]

[Archer is just pounding liquor, and scanning the room observing everyone. He's not used to not actively hating his co-workers, so he's having a hard time dealing with this situation. Typically he wouldn't give a damn, but he's actually grown a little less dick-ish since he fell through the veil. Sadly, no less of an alcoholic;]

[He gives a 'harrumph'-like snort when Rose storms out.]
Kids and their damn phones these days.

[Then he turns to eavesdrop on Spike & Myri. He's just glad people are talking, really. The whole brooding silence thing isn't helping with him being pissed.]

[Klaus doesn't really give two shits about Luthir or ... any of these people, really. He didn't know him well if at all, and even if he had it's unlikely he would have felt anymore moved by the news. So while everyone else was wallowing in grief, self-pity, or dealing with their inner homo, it's safe to say that the after-show has only served to improve his mood since the concert.

If Archer is drinking scotch, then it's safe to assume that Klaus is going to be doing the same--whether invited or not. So he's hovering near the kitchen as well. Rose is afforded a passing glance as she stalks into one of the empty rooms, but for the most part Klaus is listening to the conversation taking place across the way.]

It couldn't have been easy on her, having her mind violated the way that she did.

[Trollolol. Archer can pat his own butt as he comes to terms with his underlying attraction to Keijen Blade. Klaus is just here for the booze.]

[Spike looks over at Myri and nods, expression dark.] Yeah. She performed first. I ended up following her backstage to... do some recon. [Bluff 16. He followed her because mind control magic fan obsession.] I offered her a rescue, but... [He shakes his head.] She's got something in her head. She can't leave until we find a way to get it out.

[witchwoman]

[Her sense motive is over 20 so she gives him am odd look but doesn't ask.]

[bigbad]

[He shakes his head.] More like... [He trails off and glances over at Vi.] She... managed to get a message to me, but whatever... or whoever it was has a bloody tight hold on her. He sees what she sees and all that. She's... terrified.

[isisagent]

[Archer considers Klaus for a moment... holds a finger up, like he's trying to piece some idea together.]

There's... There's a joke there, somewhere. Say, did I do anything weird when goth-face Mc. cock-sucker had the whammy on me? [Archer has been debating whether to ask anyone what the hell happened during the telepathy blackout. Klaus is probably the best person to ask. Probably.]

[All the while he's listening in on Spike & Myri, but he's not really in the caring mood on the subject... Spike's a dick, and Nadia is a bitch.]

You mean apart from throwing yourself at Keijen Blade as though you were a thirteen year old girl attending her first Backstreet Boys concert and subsequently attempting to off yourself in front of thousands at his command to prove your dedication as his number one fan, only to then fail miserably and fall into the arms of yet another man? [Smile.] Of course not, mate.

[He raises his glass toward Archer, as though to toast the occasion.] Cheers.

More like the Nightmare God. That's how they have so much power. [ vi recognizes the "he sees what she sees". she'd still prefer that over this... ]

[telekinection]

That was what I told Klaus we might be dealing with. I could feel him channeling his power through her, and her head was... well, a mess is putting it lightly. He's a constant presence for her. I don't know how she's keeping it together.

[graveflowers]

It's better than the alternative. [ she shakily stands and heads to the bathroom. where she is going to drown herself in the bathtub. probably not. but maybe... either way, the shower starts so at least the black cloud of grief is gone. ]

[ faith walks in to hear that last bit and see vi going out, and follows her with a concerned gaze before turning back to the room, arms folded as she leans against the door frame. ] I don't know if Vi is ever going to feel any differently about it, but I can't help but feel like she's wrong. Whatever he's doing inside of these people's heads... it's about hurting more than just them.

[littledhampir]

[Out of sight and possibly out of mind, the closed door muffles Rose's voice and yet a Listen Check of 17 will allow people to overhear this conversation as feet wear patterns into the ground of the room as she paces.]

[isisagent]

[Archer's drink is empty, so he grabs the bottle to refill it. He drinks a few deep swigs from the bottle, before slowly refilling his glass. Archer gets increasingly angry and frustrated as his mind wends around the concept yet again of magic and telepathy and whatever in this world...]

Next time I see that colossal asshole, I'm going to make him into a goddamned three piece suit, to go with the hat I made out of his minotaur friend.

[That's... actually a little fucking terrifying Archer.]
