In less than twenty-four hours, everything has turned on its head.

A Knight and her allies were kidnapped by Iscariot agents for execution in Rome, barely escaping with their lives.

A mission meant to free one Knight from the influence of a dark god succeeded - at the price of another's life.

A simple recon mission at a Keijen Blade concert nearly led to two Knights committing mind-controlled suicide in front of an eager crowd.

Several Knights went to see Draken Crombe, leader of the Church of the Lord's Humanity, speak in person, and learned just how sinister his religion's dogma is.

A call from Sir Hathaway alerted Wynn to the escape of the doppelganger from the Knight's dungeons, an escape perhaps aided by Elena Gilbert.

A demigod interrupted what might have been a simple smash and grab retrieval of an artifact.

And most horrific of all, in the middle of the night, hundreds of Shadowkind in New York City awoke, and walked in a mindless trance down to the Hudson River to drown themselves. Only the quick thinking and combined efforts of the Knights present and their allies prevented all of them from succeeding.

Beset on all sides, a dark time awaits for the Knighthood - who were already suffering from the capture of Dragon's Claw Sir Thomas Bancroft at the hands of their long time enemy Dimitris Sarandis of Andres Isle.

In times such as these, the light can be difficult to find. Hope itself seems somewhere just out of reach.

All good, yeah? [ It's not actually a question and he gives Spike a crooked smile and an upwards jerk of his chin to go with it, and then arches a brow at Vi. ] Come with you where? [ Wait, wait. He turns to Finnick, arches that brow even higher. ] Nick? The unicorn's name is Nick? Please tell me that's short for something besides Nicholas.

[bigbad]

Hotel, I suppose? [Spike may have taken charge during combat but he's pretty useless past that.] Guess we'll be calling Wynn again.

[Klaus ain't saying shit, but he's sort of ... admiring Nick from afar. Because unlike Archer he has some fucking dignity. Sometimes. He's totally going to start drawing horses unicorns again ok.]

Nicholas Starkweather. More of an alias, really. Normally I'm not so blatant about this.

[Without something to focus on, Rose searched for fucks to give about pretty much everything, including Archer riding a friggen Unicorn while drunk in the middle of Shadowcidalpalooza and... (Search 3) found none to give.

Exhausted, more mentally than physically her shoulders slump and she nods her agreement, moving back towards the hotel. She's not even raging anymore. Now she's just numb.]

[ the petite blonde slings her arm through the new guy's as she gives nick a tired smile and a pat on the side. her accent is touched with an irish lilt as she explains to the stranger: ] Desperate times, desperate measures.

We're staying right up there. [ she jerks her thumb back at the hotel they'd all run out of ] If you come up, we can tell you a little more, but it's somewhat classified to go yelling in the street.

[craic]

Nice to meet ya, [ says the new guy after a definite delay in which he processes that the unicorn is named Nicholas Starkweather. Yes this really is the most difficult bit of all this so far for him, though the greeting seems sincere enough and comes with a lopsided smile.

He's easily distracted even from that by a blonde on his arm with a familiar accent. And 'somewhat classified' information. Pretty much everything about that makes him smile. ] Yeah, alright.

[bigbad]

[HEADING BACK TO THE HOTEL NOW... Spike moves over to put an arm around Myri again and glances back towards the new guy.]

What'd you say your name was again? [Look, there was a lot going on, he didn't... really pay attention the first time.]

[craic]

[ New guy looks over the blonde's head to answer Spike. ] Brendan. Murphy. Who're all you, then? I only got the unicorn's name.

[moonheart]

Faith O'Keefe. [ she nods back at nicole kidman over there, who's one her way up behind them ] And that's my mom. Anastacia O'Keefe.

[WHEEEE WE'RE ALL GOING TO THE HOTEL NOW??? finnick offers his hand to the new guy for shaking.] Finnick Odair. [since he's a native (i think??) a knowledge: pop culture dc of prob 5 would mean he'd recognize finnick as a pop star that took off last year, became really successful, then ... sort of fell off the radar.]

Klaus. [That's right, bitches. He's like Cher. He doesn't offer a hand he just smiles creepily and keeps walking.]

[witchwoman]

Myri. [She pipes up quietly, not bothering to give a last name. She and Klaus can be Cher together.]

[bigbad]

Spike. [Joining the no last name club. Of course, he legitimately... doesn't remember one if he ever had one.]

[littledhampir]

[(Search 5...) Still not really finding any but she does manage a half-hearted.]

Rose.

[Fuck Cher Rose was just going for monosyllabic.]

Violet Re-- [ nope. she can't do it. she can't get her last name out without turning into a weepy mess so she just whirls around, hair flying, and hurries back inside. ]

[telekinection]

[ tia watches her go with a pained look before giving the new guy an explanation ] She just lost her husband tonight. It's still hitting home for us.

Tia.

[craic]

[ He smiles at Faith, shakes Finnick's hand, eyes Klaus's creepy smile and then the succession of Chers before Violet flees. Welp. ] Ah. Sorry to hear that. [ His head bobs in a polite-ish nod of greeting to the rest of them, lips pressed into a wry sort of smile. Here they are. ]

Are you that guy with that song? [ He looks back to Finnick, gesturing vaguely with a finger like he might start humming, except he doesn't. ]

[he snorts a small laugh. the most enthusiasm he can muster tbh. he's just surprised.] I had some songs.

[bigbad]

[Spike rolls his eyes.] Yeah, he's a pop star, but it's not a big deal or anything. It's not like we're friends with someone who made good music. [Like Nadia. What.]

[craic]

Thought I knew your face from somewhere. Cheers. [ He gives Finnick another little up-nod and ambles along with the rest toward the hotel. ]

[moonheart]

[ AND UP THEY ALL GO~

once everyone's in the hotel room... ] Does anyone want to explain what just happened out there?

[desperatewarning]

[There is no longer a unicorn in your party. In his place is a seven feet tall gangly man with glasses who looks very, very tired.

You would be too if Archer rode you half the night. PHRASING??]

I'd very much like an explanation for that, myself.

[telekinection]

Our best guess? [ she glances at rose ] This has something to do with the concert Keijen Blade's band put on last evening in the city. We were there, and we saw what he was doing: mind controlling the audience, planting some kind of suggestion in their brains that I couldn't even begin to read.

He almost made Archer and Rose kill themselves onstage, in front of the crowd.

[Finally something that drags Rose from her thoughts, taking her cue from Tia to contribute more than one word answers to the conversation,]

Did you get a look at how they were dressed? [Somebody has been doing math and not failing hard for once. (Wisdom 20 Total.] They looked like Blade groupies. [Thank you earlier spot check.] That's what gave me the idea to talk to them.
