The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[ with a disguise of 22, Damon is looking dapper if he does say so himself. he has no problem going black tie when the occasion calls for it. he enjoys dressing up.

congratulate him, offer another drink, talk to him. flirt, even. or ask him to dance ~

he has no problem talking about himself whatsoever. or other people. he might be checking out the room, too. he won't get too drunk. not vampire drunk. he's polite like that. or, he's always pretty buzzed. it's his perpetual state, esp. with elena missing. ]

[ vi doesn't particularly want to be here? but she is. for solidarity or something. who the fuck knows. she edges around damon at the bar and politely requests a shirley temple. with like fifty cherries. ...no, just give her the whole bowl. thanks. she'll just be picking at that bowl of cherries now. ]

[ he looks up from his drink, glancing at her. ] You really like cherries. [ with a wisdom check of 12, he doesn't quite get that she's not in the party mood. one thing he does recognize. ] Not itching for something a little stronger?

I'm not old enough. [ (bluff 19) look, do you know how many times people have looked at her askance because they don't believe her actual age? she looks like she's sixteen, especially rocking flip flops and munching down on maraschino cherries like they're going out of style. ]

[ he believes that. ] Who knew they robbed the recruitment cradle here. [ he's this side of one hundred seventy, age isn't really a thing for him anymore. ] Do you have a curfew?

I was already in the Roman legion, they robbed the cradle first. [ she holds up her right arm so he can see the tattoo on the inside of her forearm. it's a crowned pomegranate crossed with a sickle and the letters SPQR with eleven horizontal black bars underneath it like a particularly uniform barcode. ]

[ okay. impressive. he brings the glass to his lips. something about her seems weathered - but not broken. like she's been through some shit. that earns her his name and concern. she's interesting and not in an alcoholic half-orc, knife happy pint-sized brunette way. ] As you heard today - Damon. Damon Salvatore. Sir, now. [ A smile. ] Can I have a cherry?

[ she genuinely thinks about about for a moment before she shrugs. ] One. If you try to take two I promise it won't be pretty.

[ he takes a second to evaluate her, deciding to only take one. teeth closing around it, he pulls the stem off and chews. ] Thanks. How's your Shirley Temple? [ nat 20 will save to not mock that shit. ]

Sweet. It's just cherry sprite. Shirley Temple is just easier to order than a sprite with grenadine and extra cherries on the side.

Less to mix. [ He gets it. ] The castle really adheres to drinking ages?

[ she scoffs out a short laugh. ] No. I do personally.

And the drinking age in Europe is still eighteen. [ but, he drops the cherry stem he'd been fiddling with to the side, he puts his hands up. ] Not that I'm judging.

[ Dawn figures she'll meet as many of the new faces she can before she goes back out on another mission. If she does get another mission. But even if not, then she'll be able to recognize them and talk with them here in the castle. Yes, this is the best plan.

She sidles up next to Damon somewhere, near the bar probably. ] Congratulations. Thankfully, that's one of the only times you'll ever have to see or wear that armor.

Definitely something to celebrate. [ He hasn't seen you before. Beautiful. Brunette. His type. He offers a hand. ] Damon Salvatore [ Charisma 8 tonight because apparently, he doesn't love Squiring ceremonies or armor. this is going to be a fabulous conversation ]

[ Tonight, she's just happy she hasn't fallen out of or tripped in her heels. She takes his hand, gives a light but firm shake. ] Dawn Summers, squire as well. I also kinda hate the armor.

Join the club. [ As he tripped. ] Usually I have the grace of a very attractive swan. How long have you been knighted?

[ Very very solemn nod. ] Last year, that was me. So, card-carrying club member. Though, can't always say I'm graceful. [ But she can imagine him as an attractive graceful swan, mm. ] A little over a year? I spent most of last year in Chicago.

Yeah, that's right. Kinda blew up. But I learned a lot.
