[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of the first half of the month.    Because not everyone is into parties, ok.

And then you were turned to stone. [He nods. He never once took it personally, not really. Faye wasn't texting Lila back either. Two months wasn't so long. He was in Neverland for centuries. What's two months compared to eternity?

Have you talked to Lila yet?

First thing.

[ Emma nods, rubbing the side of her neck. With a glance down at the tracks of pizza sauce, she sighs. ]

You wanna take this somewhere else?

[ Not on a date ok but to dinner. There is a distinction. Obviously they're having heart-to-heart catch-ups, and she's hungry being that she was coming into the kitchen and all. There is only one solution. ]

[hook looks around at the mess he's made of the kitchen and nods sheepishly.]

Yeah, we could do that.

[His eyes catch on her hand and he finally notices the scar he'd missed in his excitement to see Emma safe again (spot 22). Safe but not wholly unchanged from the experience. He frowns a bit, then covers it by grabbing the towel and wiping the sauce from his boots.]

I hear they make wonderful pizzas outside the castle. We could go to the city.

[uncurse]

I’ll drive.

[ She could use a little control. The more she hears about what went on, the more unnerved she becomes. All that time spent as a statue? Losing her head? All because her magic was turned against her, taken out of her control.

It’s jarring. ]

You wanna clean this up while I get keys? I’ll meet you in the garage.

[unhand]

[Hook nods, though it's unclear whether it's because he understands her needs or simply still doesn't know how to drive himself. Probably both. He finishes wiping down his feet, then starts on the saucy footprints.]

Sounds like a plan, love. This won't take more than a moment.

[uncurse]

[ Emma gives a quick nod, pushing the kitchen door open with her back and swanning out of the room. Her hands tuck into her jacket pockets as she approaches the squire at the front desk, shoulders hunched. ]

Hey, can I get a car?

[autorevive]

[too bad the squire is ... this dumb fuck, lounging back in the chair with his hands behind his head.] I dunno, can you?

Seriously?

[ She comes to lean against the counter of the front desk, rolling her eyes. ]

What—"May I," then?

[ Done with this pedantry, she holds out a hand, palm-up, expectant. ]

Just give me the keys.

[autorevive]

[he shoves the sign out sheet binder across the desk to her with one hand.] Don't forget the paperwork, love.

[ With a disdainful look for that bit of Britishness, she grabs the binder and a pen, looking altogether dissatisfied as she starts filling the form out. ]

I liked the last one better. [ Whoever happened to be at the desk when she last stopped by. ] When'd you get here?

Fifty years ago. What kind of car do you want, [he peers down at the paper] Emma Swan? If that's your real name.

[uncurse]

"If"? What the hell is that supposed to mean?

[ She slides the binder back down to him, blinking it off like wow that just happened. ]

I don't know. Two-seater.

[autorevive]

I dunno, it sounds made-up. [he grabs some keys off the rack and passes them to her.] Get me a kebab while you're out, yeah?

Don't count on it.

[ She grabs the keys all the same, side-eyeing him. ]

[ Which is really more like 'th...anks ????' but she's just going to sidle off towards the garage now. ]

[Hook's arrived at the garage by the time she makes it down, and he's admiring some of the shiny sports cars.] I've got to learn how to drive these things.

[He looks up and walks over to her.] Did you get us a fast one, love?

Saw that coming a mile away.

[ Of course Hook is a car guy. Of course he is. She gestures to a red car once she hits the unlock button, noticing the lights flash. ]

It'll get us there.

[ Given that she drove the same 30-year-old car for ten years, she's not overly concerned with appearances. ]

[Honestly, Hook isn't hard to impress when it comes to cars. He'd think the 30-year-old car was pretty exciting too. But this one? This one's... well, red. It looks fast and exciting. He nods approvingly and heads over to it.]

I should hope so. She's a lovely vehicle.

Why "she"?

[ Filed under things that will never make sense to Emma. She climbs into the driver's seat and gets it started. ]

Watch the interior.

[ In other words, don't fucking stab the leather. ]

[He rolls his eyes and holds his hook exaggeratedly close to his chest.]

Can't say how it is with cars, but your ship's your mistress half the time. You treat her well, and she takes care of you, bringing you home safe. Any sailor worth his salt's half in love with his ship.

[Now why Killian named his ship "Roger" if she's his mistress is anyone's guess.]

Which might also explain why most sailors worth their salt are single.

[ Seatbelts, and then she's pulling out of the garage (drive 15). ]

You asked. [He shoots her an amused look.] The long voyages may also account for that.

[ Maybe. Her eyebrows arch in silent acknowledgment of the point, her attention drifting to driving. She lets the car grow quiet, only slightly awkward. ]

[Hook probably doesn't help the awkward with how much he's staring at her. But she was gone, then she was a statue, and now she's back. A part of him's waiting for the next disaster.]

Anyone fill you in on what you've missed yet?

Lila gave me the cliff notes; I looked the rest up on national news. Russia got a new president, Luthir died, and half of New York tried to commit mass-suicide.

[ She sounds nonchalant, but none of those things are nonchalant. More importantly, though—] Did Lila tell you she has magic?

Her dream thing? That's hardly new.
