[ his generally cheerful expression only fades just slightly. great, another name he doesn't, and will not, remember. super. it fades further with her dismissal of his question -- so that "i can answer" thing was empty. good to know. better he not get his hopes up and be able to maintain that sunny disposition than have it come crashing down. ]
