[ Having spent months scrying on areas of the Island scouted out by Sir Bancroft and Sir Chessing, Hasmed is able to send a few groups to the Island via greater teleport spells, with a fairly small margin for error, as to where they're going to land. The Shadowkind prison teams land flawlessly, and the very big group appears in a clearing in the middle of the woods, abruptly finding themselves surrounded by trees and mostly darkness. The moon is in its last quarter, and with the trees so thick above them, there are only patches of light that filter down here and there. Those with darkvision or lowlight vision can see perfectly, but anyone with normal vision may find themselves squinting to see much of anything.

The teleport spell only works if the entire group is physically connected, so when they arrive, Wolverine yanks his hand off Nathan's shoulder, and gives Drax a Look like stop touching me if you value your hand. Eric runs his Drakenet app to determine their location, then announces: "Dead on." In other words, no spell mishap sending them miles off target. Beside them all, Lan's mount, Daisy, stamps her feet slightly, obviously unnerved by the magic. He whispers "Whoa, there" and reins her in, causing her to settle. ]

Wynn given any thought to what we're gonna do with all these when we're done? [ he jerks a thumb at the cage, even as he starts moving on ]

Depends. They're victims like the rest, but they're dangerous. It's either they go down with the prison or we risk lettin' 'em loose on the island.

[Rocket shakes his head.] They ain't my call. These things were responsible for keepin' me and the rest inside. I don't got any love for 'em.

You really thought he was gonna leave this place standin'?

[Logan pls. Rocket scoffs.] Even if your boss was too soft for that, I'd take care of it. I've been in a lot of prisons and none of 'em have been nice, but this one... This one oughta burn.

[He's still pretty mad about it, okay. Like it was only... two days ago.]

[ logan shoves open a door near the end of the hall, after glancing inside, and glares through it. ] Yeah.

Think it oughta.

[ the room beyond appears to be some kind of operating lab, trays and instruments next to various gurneys. old bloodstains color the floor, and logan's expression darkens instantly as he looks it over. ]

Rocket looks like a deer standing directly in the middle of oncoming traffic with every muscle locked up. Everything seems to be going into breathing and he's not even doing that very well, given the unfortunate rhythm of the rise and fall of his tiny chest. After a second or two, he finally grabs a hold of his own good sense and backs away from the door, putting himself against the wall so he doesn't have to peek in, hugging his gun to his chest like it's a security blanket as he sinks into a sitting position.

He's fine. Really.

[oblivious to rocket's meltdown over there, nathan just states ... exactly what's on his mind. as usual.]

This place is a dump.

Yeah. [ logan's tone turns a bit wary, his attention fixing on a glass mirror along one wall. he steps that way slowly, and then abruptly slams out a fist, claws extending and cutting through the glass like paper, breaking the one-way window, behind which several men and women in lab coats gawk and takes steps back, cowering against the wall of a little side room. a few raise their hands instantly.

"Let us go, please!" ]

[Rocket hears the begging (listen 33- damn apparently his ears are open) and it seems to snap something back into place in his head, though when he stands, he still hesitates. He only makes it to the door, angled enough so he can see the people in their lab coats and they can see him. And that's honestly all he's got in him right now. He's too angry and frightened and angry about being frightened to even open fire.]

Why? [He snaps, his voice wavering.] Give me a good reason. Just one.

[always the helper, nathan pulls another grenade out of his backpack and waves it around.]

Or we'll blow you to smithereens!

[adamantiumed]

[ the woman in the front shakes her head, tears forming in her eyes.

"He threatened us too, you know. We didn't know about the projects until he hired us, and once he did -- once we knew -- you couldn't leave." ]

[beatupgrass]

[for a brief moment, rocket almost looks sympathetic and genuinely surprised by that answer. And then an eyeblink later, he's hefted his gun, looking ready to open fire on all of them, all pretense gone, leaving nothing but an angry animal with a large gun.] Not. Good. Enough. You expect mercy, because you were spineless?!

[his voice takes on a whiny falsetto.] Oh, Sarandis is so scary. I guess we have no choice but to torture all these Shadowkind. [he snarls again.] You still signed up for it. Maybe you didn't know what you were doin', but can you really look into the eyes of those Shadowkind and say that, knowin' none of them asked to get taken apart? Do you think anything you can say will make it better for the ones that lived? The ones that're gonna wake up every night for as long as they live remembering this. You're the monsters they're always gonna be afraid of. And you think you're just as much victims as we are. You're wrong. 'Cause you'd get to walk. You'd get to write this off. You'd get to leave whole... unless I decide to put about thirty rounds in your freakin' heads.

[spinerip]

[Guess whose whiny raccoon senses were tingling? This guy! Which is to say he's been climbing and wandering and caught up with the group again! Yay!

He takes one look at the scientists and Rocket spilling emotions and asks quite calmly:]

Would it help if I tore their spines out?

[adamantiumed]

[ logan snaps out an arm, grabbing one of the scientists and yanking him forward, more glass shattering between them, and probably poking into the guy, who raises both hands in fear, as wolverine holds aloft one set of claws to his neck. ] Trash like you's what's wrong with this world. Figurin' better them than you.

[ the man stammers: "L-look, we have families on the line too. If it were just about us, it'd be one thing. But I can't sacrifice my son and daughter's lives to-- to taking a moral stand that won't accomplish anything." ]

[Oh hi, Drax. Rocket would be glad you're back, but he's too busy looking like he might have a furry aneurysm.... But somehow Nathan's... astounding logic snaps him vaguely out of his berserker rage.]

The moron has a point. [He looks at Nathan like wow wtf you had a good point. Seriously.] Maybe you should've thought more about your families before you decided to work for a scumbag like Sarandis.

[He steps forward, leveling his gun at the scientists Logan's not currently threatening.] And the funny thing is... You're the ones who coulda done something. All the Shadowkind you've got leashed, all the brains you lot have... I got outta this place with just my wits- what d'you think you could have done? But you didn't try, 'cause it was easier to sit back and take orders and who really cares about a buncha dumb creatures, anyway?

[He looks like he's about to take aim them and then he hesitates for a second and lowers his weapon, all the rage going out of him as something strikes him.] Killin' 'em here's too easy. They need to face what they did. [He lowers his gun, scowling as he looks away.] And give the poor bastards in the cells the satisfaction I never got.

[Or at least doesn't remember getting.] They're the victims here. They deserve a say.

[adamantiumed]

[ logan doesn't look like his rage is abating any. but he does hear rocket's words and while there's a tense moment where he looks ready to drive his claws through the guy's throat, he finally lowers and retracts them, letting go of the guy with a rough shove backwards. ] Looks like it's your lucky day.

[ he glances back at the others behind the scientist, and snorts. ] For now. [ he gestures backwards with his head ] Til we're done, we oughta lock 'em up.

[beatupgrass]

Yeah, but one of 'em comes with us. It'll be faster if I don't have to hack everything. [He gives the almost-crying lady a onceover.] You. With the waterworks. Out.

[adamantiumed]

Let's find the damn prisoners. [ weeping lady curbs that shit, changing it into an angry glare at the others who don't have to do anything but sit in a cell and wait for judgment day x( logan goes and busts open the door to their hide-y room, and grabs scientist guy again. ] Keys. [ sure enough, dude has cell keys on him, and logan hauls his ass towards the door, assuming the rest will follow. they hesitate, looking at the murderous group, but decide it's better than disobeying, and head back into the hall, to get herded into the cell logan opens for them. ]

[beatupgrass]

[Rocket keeps his gun trained on the lady, nodding at Drax without taking his eyes off her.] If she does anything stupid, smash her skull in.

[And he's just gonna herd her out into the hall too so she can come with them. Yaaay teamwork.]

Things'll go better for you if you show us right where the prisoners are. [ logan's scary and all y'all are psycho, so she nods and gestures to a stairwell that leads back down on this side of the building.

"Right down there." ]

Home, sweet cellblock. [Rocket flattens his ears against his skull and scowls, urging the lady forward. It's pretty easy when he's like... right under her heels.] As bad as you feel now, just imagine what it's been like for them.

[Us, though he's trying his hardest not to victimize himself. He's suffered this before, endured enough that it's familiar- compared to the ones who weren't born into cruelty and experiments. That still doesn't make his itchy trigger finger less itchy.] You don't have a clue what it's like to be unmade.

[ the stairs bottom out at a locked door, and she scrabbles for a key under logan's intimidating gaze. Opening it reveals a long row of only too familiar cells. Wolverine glances at rocket for confirmation. ]
