[ The two groups tasked to deal with the denizens of the Shadow Village arrive on the bank of the river that bisects the capitol city of Andres in half.  The river slopes down from the woods and city around it, meaning that they're afforded a bit of concealment here, unless anyone stood at the top and looked down.  At this hour of the night, however, there's no one around.   Dovan grumbles a bit about 'blasted magic' as they shake off the disorienting sense of vertigo, while Koraith waits for Belle to confirm they've arrived in the right place.  She pats Gold on the arm as she pulls out her phone, and moments later, she nods to the others in confirmation.

The water laps gently nearby against the rocks, and in the distance, a bridge is visible that links the segregated Shadow village with its thatched roof houses, to the city proper, which seems lined with wealthy manor homes.  ]

[He glances over at Koriath. He's the senior knight, he's going to have to make the decision here.]

We're going to have to do something soon or this is going to become a three-team fight, and that's being optimistic.

[The pessimistic version is that they just sell them out to Sarandis's soldiers to save themselves.]

Any idea on Hasmed's ETA? He doesn't really look like the texty type, but desperate times. [Stiles is just assuming that Koraith is keeping in contact somehow.]

Or should we have a few of our people go check it out to help out?

Considering theirs is a stealth mission, that might endanger their operation more than support it.

Give them a bit more time. We just need to hold things together here a little while longer...

[ indra makes her way over, frowning at them. ] Grimrot promised weapons. She's not one for empty promises. [ SO WHERE ARE THEY OMG ]

I got weapons! [Andie shouts as she bursts in like the coolaid man. Except through the door, not the wall, her strength is not that impressive even all the momentum she can build.] Who wants to stab things?

[ koraith smiles up at her as she enters, casting a pleased look back at the others ] See? Patience is a virtue.

[Perfect timing, Andie. David offers her a small smile, before making his way closer to see what their options were.]

[ Lydia's not moving to get weapons despite her earlier conversation with David because fuck you David, that's why. But she will start trying to organize the Shadowkind into those who are fighting vs those who aren't, and make a line of those who want weapons. ]

Mostly swords and stuff. There's way more than this! Hasmed's getting it all but I thought I might get the party started in case people were getting impatient. [She glances over at Lydia. SHE HEARD THAT.]

[Grimrot nudges Indra.] Now's your chance!

[ she makes her way over to andie, looking over the cache ] I don't suppose you brought any axes.

Of course we did. [Stiles pipes up even though he's not involved at all, so he looks to Andie too.] Right?

[David glances over as well, eyeing the pile in Andie's arms to see if it will produce what they're looking for.]

If not, there's another batch coming. There may be one in there.

What did your family's blade look like?

A large, wide, slightly curved blade made of silver, held by a grip wrapped in fairly common, scarlet sting ray leather. [ yes, fairly common. ]

No, I could grab the most if I just went for swords, so that's what I did first round. [She brightens, though, at the mention of axes and family blades.] Anyone have paper? I can make a shopping list!

[ koraith speaks up as they're talking, holding his drakenet phone in hand, as he plays the message they've all received. ] I'm afraid to interrupt, but... I think we should all be aware of this.

[David listens and his jaw sets and THIS IS WHY HE WAS CONCERNED ABOUT WEAPONS. Now, apparently the guards are the least of their worries.]

Depending on how big whatever's coming out of there is? We could be sitting ducks here. We gotta get everyone moving.

[Stiles mutters a quick 'shit' under his breath before heading for Andie and the pile of swords and just... grabbing one and handing them out to people. He doesn't care who can actually use them. They will all need fucking weapons if shit is about to get real.]

I'm the Oprah of swords here, people. Don't be shy.

[grimrot]

[Andie will linger for about 30 seconds but if no one else has a weapon request, she's gone. "Grab a sword just in case I don't make it back!" she shouts as she draws her own weapon and runs off. Because running with pointy things is a great idea.

Grimrot smiles at Indra and pulls out her mace.] At least it seems unlikely Landor is one of the monsters released on the island. That might be a bit too much.

[ indra actually cracks a smile at that, while koraith points out: ] We may actually be in no peril from the monsters here. The village in no way lies between the castle and the prison. That doesn't, of course, mean we shouldn't be fully cautious...

Nor that we shouldn't move the citizens out as quickly as possible.

[ Lydia shows back up, having identified the ones who are planning to flee vs the ones planning to fight. ]

We should split up. Keep arming the ones who want to be armed, and funnel the rest out towards the boats.

[ Matt has taken a knife-sword-thing from Oprah over there and he swishes it around in his hand a bit, trying to look cool. He's never used a sword. ]

You know those films you watch where you shout at the screen because everyone is being stupid and about to get themselves killed? Think we might actually be in one of those.

They don't always work out as badly as you think.

[David's entire life has been one of those moments. You can hear it in his voice as he says it, with a nonchalance that is probably kind of scary to everyone else who happens to know nothing about his life, but hey at least he's calm.

And also going to gently move over to correct Matt's form. He's picking up on the inexperience (sense motive 19) and while he can't make you a master swordsmen in five minutes he can at least make sure you don't stab yourself.

Want me to check in with Dovan and see if he can spare some bodies down here?

[Probably not but since Dovan is ... technically his mission leader, he should probably find out what he wants him to do.]

[ he nods to lydia as well ] Sir Ellison will stay here with those who've been armed, to help defend them against any attacks. I'll be accompanying the group towards the boats. The rest of you may decide whether you'll stay or go.
