[ Meanwhile, a group of ten lands on... the roof of a building in the upscale sector of town. The half-moon lights the sky around them enough for any of them to get a good glance at what surrounds them. In the distance, moonlight plays across the river dividing the city, and the roofs of the Shadow village homes can be barely made out. But here, there are opulent old-money homes scattered here and there, and a number of commercial buildings coursing up and down the main thoroughfare. Colin doublechecks the location on the phone, which lights up his face eerily as he checks the screen, and then he slides it into his pocket, turning to nod the others. ]

We find ourselves on scenic Andres Isle, atop the historic Grand Hotel.  The very heart of the Island, ladies and gentlemen.  Advising caution seems unnecessary.

[he starts to, but chose this as an awesome time to get a computer use roll of 7, so he's like doing the baby simba with his phone trying to get reception. it's gonna be a long night.]

[ lissa actually thinks herding them the hotel.... that they're already at... would make more sense because they can comp them rooms or usher them into the dining room and wouldn't need to go anywhere else, but she's hesitant to opposes another plan. so she glances down at her phone before pointing in the right direction. [Zoe follows the group, glad that they managed to get directions before all the networks got taken down. She's still going to keep an eye out (spot 15) for people wondering what this group of strangers is up to.]

[ the streets are actually eerily empty as they head towards the country club. they don't see any soldiers either in this quarter of the island. ] Is there some kind of weirdo curfew here, or what? [ they see the sign for the Hawk Lodge not too far ahead, as well. ]

Probably. They did just have a prisoner escape from their prison. And there was a party last night. [ night before? time? what? ] They may have just turned in early. [ her eyes flit between her phone, the sign, and nessa. ] Perhaps we should see if we can suss out some information that could be useful in containing the residents. People they would look to in crisis, stuff like that. I'm sure the country club employees would know that.

[Zoe isn't sure that anyone is going to be working at the country club if the streets are this dead. Either everyone is paranoid about what sort of neighbors they really have or they are all scared of what will happen if they overstep.]

I'm not really certain that scouring their Twitter accounts is going to pay off for us much. I might be able to glean some things when they're talking to us, however. [ they head for the gates, which are, at this moment, closed. ]

[he crosses his arms and looks for an intercom or speaker system of some sort on/near the gate (spot 17) bc bitch he does not feel like climbing today.]

Don't tell me they're closed. Did we really just walk all that way for nothing?

What, you think they're gonna have the gates open 24/7? Like Walmart? God forbid, an orc or whoever the fuck might get in. [fine, he'll do it. he'll push the button.]

[ after a few moments, a male voice answers. "Can I help you?" ]

[he looks at the rest of the party like WELL????? ALL Y'ALL'S BITCHES TURN.]

[ lissa leans around alex. ] Excuse me, could we come in? It's something of an emergency.

[ he hesitates, obviously thrown off by the breach in protocol.

"What kind of emergency?" ]

[ um bc we're stuck out here on purge night obviously. ]

Could we perhaps talk inside? Best not to loiter in the open. What with the... fugitive on the loose.

[ as they make their way towards the doors, a young man comes out who sports a very... unfortunate face. red hair, freckles, glasses, acne, buck teeth - it's a mess. cordelia's smile at seeing the doors open vanishes, lip curling back in disgust as she fails to restrain a grossed out noise, mumbling: ] Shouldn't they only hire attractive people? No one wants to see that.

[ he stares at her for a long moment, clearly utterly captivated, his mouth hanging open slightly, before he clears his throat and scratches his neck saying, "Uh, yeah no problem. You said... you said there was an emergency?" ]

Yes. [ her grateful smile falls into an expression of something like worry. which is easy because she's not sure she can carry this charade ok. using what she's got available tbh. ] Unfortunately there's been a gas leak in town. [ her nose wrinkles. (bluff 25) ] Possibly the... [ she trails off with a heavy look. the convict. clearly her delicate sensibilities don't want to dwell on it. ] We're not entirely sure. Regardless, some people need to be evacuated while it's investigated and we were wondering if it would be possible for you to open your doors to the rest of us? [ SO HOPEFUL. (diplomacy 28) ] It would only be for a few hours and we would be forever grateful. Best to keep off the streets.
