[ Two groups stow away on a barge bringing imports onto Andres, aided with invisibility and silence spells.  The members of both groups sneak away from the docks, to congregate between warehouse buildings.  Dean checks his weapon in the dim light, glancing down towards the mouth of the narrow alley, and then glancing back at the other group. ]

Castle can't be more than a half mile.   Odds are that's where Elena's headed too - that or the prison in the woods.  Depends on what they're here for.

Our mission, according to Wynn, was to stop them from interfering with any of the other missions taking place tonight. Depending on what we find, we could cuff him, too. But that's the point. We don't know what we're going to find.

Did I ever actually say I was going to kill him? [Will Save 23 to not lose her shit at the name calling and accusations.] I said I was going to take care of him and my orders, from Wynn, are to take Kyp down any way I see fit.

Just make sure you don't lose sight of bringing in Elena. Because if you lose her because she watches you gun down her BFF, then all your planning isn't worth shit.

[She doesn't ... directly care about Elena's emotional well-being so much - she knows Vi does - but bringing her is the big point - Kyp is incidental. Losing Elena would go over worse with Wynn than letting Kyp live.]

Which is why I prioritized getting Elena out of there before we deal with Kyp. [No yeah shit for Diplo skills paired with a Will Save of 24... From the edge to her voice, Rose is done so moving quickly onwards.]

Everybody pipe down. [ because HEY LOOK there's a couple soldiers passing by the mouth of the alleyway. ]

[will stares at soldiers (spot 27) and tries to sense anything ~off~ about them. (sense motive 39 for soldier 1; 38 for soldier 2.)]

[Alainn is just staring at the two teams and all of the bickering like what. the fuck. is even going on.

and then there are soldiers and people are actually being quiet. she debates whether to knock them out and take their uniforms or not, then decides she'll wait until they get into a better position before doing anything.]

[ there's a definite sense of camaraderie between the soldiers, but they also carry themselves like they're military, and like they've been walking this beat for awhile. both are on edge, and it's clear that this isn't just any other day, but it doesn't take much of a wisdom check to remember there was a prison break like. two days ago. ]

[ yeah will's wis check was like 19. he gets the picture. and he waits until they're gone to quietly proclaim: ] They aren't who we're looking for. But they're on edge. Probably the prevailing mood in the ranks right now.

A tense guard is a trigger happy guard... That's going to make things - interesting. [She's frowning in her voice. Or something. Whatever.

Still she watches the guards move away, trying to see where they're going. (Spot 27)] We should wait for them to come by again. See if we can figure out the timing of their passes.

Is there a time limit on the invisibility spell? [i.e. can they just ... hang out here all night watching soldiers ... ]

Or will it be a problem if they happen to pass between us while we're under the spell?

[Because they are, you know ... invisible. Sneaking around them might be a loteasier than sitting there all night.]

[felicity's criticism encourages him to ... think more, i guess.] There's no telling how long we'll have to wait. Could be ten minutes, could be an hour. Not to mention how they'll probably be spooked once communications are down. This could be the worst spot to be.

[Thankfully Rose makes a Will Save of 18 to keep her opinions to herself for the sake of saving time, otherwise this was probably going to be another bicker-fest.]

[Alainn answers their questions as she peers after the soldiers, her voice hushed, barely a whisper]

Once the spell has been cast, any who enter within the sphere not of the spell will not be affected, however should any of you leave the sphere you will become visible once more. If you attack something while within the sphere, you will become visible If I attack something while the spell is active, it will break. We will remain visible to each other for the duration, but remember that this spell does not muffle sound.

And aye, the spell only has a short duration [one minute per caster level, to be exact.], so if everyone is ready? Lets get a move on. [She waits a beat until she is sure everyone is on the same page, drawing her gun and checking the chamber. Once she gets the nod from everyone, she will head out of the alleyway in the direction of the castle, keeping a steady, brisk pace. (move silently: 21) Ya'll better keep up, she ain't slowing down.]

except, of course, for where their path leads them out past a small knot of soldiers who seem to be communicating about the results of a sweep of this section of the town. a listen check of 15+ can catch a few parts of the report:

"--no civilian unrest reported--" "--if it's being sheltered, we'll find it eventually" "--did you hear something?" the last comment prompts several of them to follow their commanding officer's glance across the street in their general direction, and dean, who got a nat 20 listen check, at least has the dumbass grace to stop moving. ]
