[ Castle repairs are still well underway, so there's that ever present remaining air of tension in the wake of the attack, but nevertheless it's the holiday season and people want to celebrate.  Any and all holiday season things can go here! ]

[ once in a great while, logan agrees to accompany emma when they head to the hospital where scott is kept in a special ward, constantly monitored for changes in his condition - thus far to no avail. surprise, nathan also wanted to tag along, and so here the three of them are, hovering around the sealed hyperbaric chamber or w/e it is that he's contained in. his vitals flash steadily across the screen, and after relaying his usual report, the doctor leaves them alone for a moment. logan stands at a distant, staring at the chamber with an uncomfortable expression on his face, either because of the situation, or because he can't smoke in here, we just don't know. he glances at emma, letting her have her moment. ]

[telepathy]

[ Their company would make her bristle, if not for the fact that she knew it was just as much Scott they were here for as her. Emma doesn't like welcoming the perception that she is somehow sentimental, but Scott as much as the school has a way of bringing it out in her, and she lingers at the side of the hyperbaric chamber with her fingers touching the glass.

Her mind reaches out instinctively to touch his, as it so often has, but today she stops herself.

Withdraws, instead.

Backing away from the chamber, her skin crystallizes and hardens into impenetrable diamond, steeling her heart and blocking her telepathy—closing herself off from what she puts herself through by being here. ]

[For as much as their lives are filled with cosmic firebirds that cull evolutionary dead ends, giant robots dedicated to wiping them out and that one time Scott decided to create his own country, there's no giant display, no explosions, nothing out of the ordinary besides a twitch of a finger and a sudden spike in his vitals

I mean I'm just saying everybody should be grateful he didn't wake up and destroy part of the hospital ok.]

[most of what nathan knows about scott as come from ... logan. as you can imagine, there was a glowing review. but he still comes anyway because the group of them are literally the only survivors of boston and there's something uniting about that shit, okay. and then he notices the machine ... get more beepy than usual???]

[ logan looks at nathan sharply at first like noT A FUNNY JOKE NATHAN STOP before he also notices the beeping and his head snaps that way. instead of telling nathan to go get a nurse or something, like a sensible person, he makes his way forward beside emma, to look cautiously inside. ]

[telepathy]

... Scott?

[ Even made entirely of diamond, the jump of his heart causes enough trepidation in her voice that it seems like hers strives to match it. Her eyes search the machine, and she actually rolls a decent check to interpret that it could be significant and it's not just Nathan being ... well, Nathan. ]

Get a nurse. [ she touches a hand to Nathan's shoulder. ] Now. [ On Nathan's shoulder, her hand steadily transforms back to flesh, and she reaches out with her mind to tap into Scott's. Experience causes her to skip right past read thoughts attempts and into mind probe to attempt to reach him. He gets a DC 19 will save to try to resist, but she will just

try to invite herself to his mind, and ask him— Can you hear me? ]

[Scott's mind is like an open book for Emma - or, an open hotel because that's still what his mindscape looks like, thanks Marvel. The fact she connects is significant enough in itself, even if the hotel looks like several extinction level events happened in it at once. It's eerily empty - perhaps not that surprising for Emma, besides the fact she doesn't get an answer immediately.

In the real world, his body continues to wake. It's all very interesting.

He fucking crit failed the attempt to answer Emma so you know what she can wander his mind for a while, lasting effects of the coma or something.]

[he seems offended because he doesn't want to leave when exciting stuff could be happening!!! this is rude!! but he'll do it.]

NURSE!!! NUUUUUURSE!!! [he screeches irishly down the hall.] CAN WE GET A NURSE OVER HERE?!

[ logan looks over at emma, trying to get a read on her expression ] Can you hear him?

[telepathy]

[ The features of Scott's mind surprise Emma, not because she hasn't before seen the hotel, but because it's the first time since he went into his coma that she could. Visibly shaken, but still deeply submerged, she pushes for an answer, trudging down empty hallways.

In the echo of them, she hears Logan's question, and steadies herself well enough to answer. ] No. I can get inside, but it's as if he's not here. [ In Scott's mind, she pushes again, Scott, where are you? ]

[isright]

[--ma?

There's an immediate answer this time, the sound distant and strained, echoing down the halls. Doors slam open around Emma, memories and thoughts leaking out around her, distorted as if the connection is incomplete.]

[telepathy]

[ The sudden movement startles Emma, and she whips around like she's Blonde Wearing White #3 in a horror movie. Then, with certainty that mounts steadily, she surges down the hallway in the direction the doors had started opening from.

Scott! Follow my voice! ]

[ well... shit. HIS SKILL SET IS USELESS HERE ]
