[ Castle repairs are still well underway, so there's that ever present remaining air of tension in the wake of the attack, but nevertheless it's the holiday season and people want to celebrate.  Any and all holiday season things can go here! ]

[So while Malina is Muslim, she likes the holidays to drag people together because she never actually had people before she met up with the Harrisons and subsequently joined the knights. This particular event always seems to keep getting bigger, which is really the present that she loves the most, but she will always make sure there is food, booze and plenty of opportunities to hang out and just relax for a while.

She won't ICly designate it to a specific holiday, because they all celebrate (or don't celebrate) different things, and due to the construction around the castle, she's keeping things simple this year, but she wants to do something. Set up in the TV room, the food consists of pies, both in the form of pizza and various dessert pies of varying flavors, as well as a makeshift bar set up against the far wall for those who are thirsty. Malina has small presents for some people, nothing of consequence but things that are sweet and from the heart if nothing else.

Feel free to mix and mingle and get to know people you don't already! Otherwise have fun.]

[OOC: Everyone who responds will get a Malina. Feel free to set up something OTA to the party or just tag around, or closed things if you're looking to do something specific.]

[similar-ish-ly, alex is jewish but familiar enough with christmas because his family at least did the whole get a tree and put presents under it part. he definitely ... can't go back to do christmas with his family, so he's ok with showing up to this nondenominational holiday get-together. he'll also assign himself the role of bartender until he gets bored with it.]

ANYPOODLE, since there is pie, kali is effectively a toddler on a sugar rush and spends the majority of the "seasonal party" badgering people about the story of the holiday and trying to science facts out of myths because no, one night's worth of oil will not burn for eight nights, otherwise it would be eight night's worth of oil, like god. it's harder to discount jesus because of the whole aasimar thing. maybe it's legit. maybe if you wear sandals you get magic powers! maybe topher should grow a beard... ]

[ Some fun new features of this Christmas:

1.) friends to spend it with who are equally uninterested or incapable, for one reason or another, of spending it with their own family,
2.) income sufficient to purchase meaningful gifts,
3.) casual and comfortable arrangements rather than the stringent expectations of St. Agnes' strictest nuns.

Skye makes her way into the TV room with a towering stack of presents for all of those in attendance, which she dumps readily in a corner of the room before seating herself on the couch with a slice of pie. The presents are all sentimental in nature, nothing extravagant—they need not be, when everyone here is perfectly capable of buying for themselves what they need. It really is the thought that counts.

So how many people here actually celebrate Christmas? [ Because she realizes it after some talking that she's atheist, Malina is Muslim, and Alex is Jewish, and Kali was raised in a lab. ] Like, culturally.

The only Christmas I remember was when I was five and we went to my grandmother's house and my mom lost her biscuits over politics and we basically never did big family get-togethers ever again.

[And this is why Topher lived in Pegasus HQ and never saw his family ever.] They usually put a tree up in my division at Pegasus, because we might be doing dubiously moral things, but golly gee we're just like everyone else. [he shoves a handful of chips into his face, rolling his eyes a bit.] It's human programming. As soon as Thanksgiving is over, you just need a tree in your lobby, regardless if you care about the holiday or not.
