[ Castle repairs are still well underway, so there's that ever present remaining air of tension in the wake of the attack, but nevertheless it's the holiday season and people want to celebrate.  Any and all holiday season things can go here! ]

[It's a madhouse. But even with how much Andrew feels sort of removed from his family, even he gets excited about going back home for Christmas. It's just one of those things that he'll never outgrow.

And the fact that there's plenty of alcohol involved doesn't hurt.

And this year, the house will be a little fuller, with the addition of Bo and Kenzi... Matt and his friend Nate. The usuals in Ella and her brother would be in attendance. And of course Andrew's parents and brother.

If everyone made it out alive, it would be a miracle.

[Bo makes sure to get some exclusive hubby time as they're getting ready to leave and make their way to Andrew's parent's home. She's double checking their things, making sure they're about ready to leave, but hasn't quite put her coat on.]

Do we have everything? Besides Kenzi, I mean.

[Bo mingles as she does, and no matter how tense or strange things have been in the past, she's never been one to let that keep her from having a good time. She seems in an especially happy mood, but for her that's...not all that unusual, lbr.

[Andrew is a little more frazzled. He's not even nervous this time. He's just all over the place by definition. Checking a list he made on his phone, he looks at a pile of gifts they're bringing for the others.]

Think so! Probably not, but... wouldn't be Christmas without forgetting something.

[Bo moves over to him, pressing her hands into his chest to steady him.]

Well, even if we do, it won't be the end of the world, right?

[She looks at the pile of presents, considering for a second before she takes one of the smaller boxes and hands it to him. That tag says it to him, from her.]

Here. Why don't you open this one a little early? Then it's one less thing for us to bring with us.

[He looks a little confused, but... uh presents, duh. He's not going to say no to that.]

Well-- I suppose we've got a little time until Kenzi gets here. [He gives her another curious look but goes to open up the present.]

[ Some time on Christmas day, Matt is wearing the paper hat from a Christmas cracker. He's enjoying the day, and way more than he expected he would. When he walks up to Bo it's with a grin on his face. ]

Where's your hat? Not christmas without a hat.

I guess we better find me one then, hm?

[She looks like she's totally up for wearing a hat. She's not afraid to have a little fun at the cost of her fashion choices.]

Well looks like you're in luck... [ because he has another in his hand that he pulled from a discarded cracker end earlier. He'll lift it up and plop it on top of her head. ]

There, it's christmas now. So you done these family things before? You met a lot of Andrew's family?

[ the cailte siblings aren't often seen together in and around the castle, but they're near joined by the hip at the parties, a set, though far from matching. tiny little pale ella with her red hair and bright green eyes is comically dwarfed by her six foot brother, all dark hair and dark eyes and, somehow, still tan in december, but their mannerisms are almost exactly the same. ella is the more effusive of the pair, but finn holds his own in a conversation. sometimes he and adam need to act like mrs gatewood's perfect children and ella can be found alone, but most of the time they're together.

[ It's still fairly early on Christmas day and Matt is pretending he's not nervous while exuding it like he's shoved on too much aftershave. Which he's probably also done. So he heads out into the garden, wrapped up in his coat, off to go and get a smoke.

It's out there that he bumps into Ella, where he quite literally bumps his elbow against her. ]

Oy.

Hey! Don't oy me when I was out here first! [ she makes a face at him, stepping out of range of any other elbows he might want to throw. ]

I'll oy you all I want. [ He grins at her and gets back up in her business, this time throwing an arm around her. ]

You having a good Christmas, El?

[Matt's friend is usually at his side, but not 100% of the time, so for now, have a Welsh boy standing around, trying not to look awkward. He sees the brother-sister duo and gives a small little smile and a wave.]

So where do you two fit in on the family tree then?

We don't, actually. [ which finn says with a easy smile, tugging on one of ella's curls. she idly slaps his hand away, squinting at nate. ] Not really, though Mrs Gatewood has all but adopted us. Ella is Andrew's best mate.

[cravating]

And Andrew's the big bloke, yeah? [He glances over his shoulder to where Andrew and Bo are currently hanging out.]

Sorry, I'm still putting names to faces.

[Annnnd here comes Andrew, all smiles. That's probably weird. Don't worry about it.]

Ella! Finn! Y'made it! [Not that hed doubted they would come, but... it's important that they're here.]

Your mum threatened to kill us if we didn't so... [ finn answers with a laugh. ]

[Well into the evening, Andrew heads over to Bo's side and whispers in her ear that maybe it's time to do the thing. He's all a bundle of nervous excitement as he clears his throat to grab everyone's attention.]

Uh... sorry. Don't mean to interrupt, but- Well, actually. Yeah, I do. So me and Bo have some news. Pretty big news, actually.

[He's caught somewhere between not being able to stand not saying it and not managing to spit it out.]

[ Matt looks up from his spot on the couch, lifting his eyebrows a bit. ]

Don't tell me, you're getting a sex change.

[cravating]

[Annnnd Nate will smack his arm lightly.]

Matthew!

[Yeah. He full named him.]

[ It's not that Matt is nervous as such, but there's at least a corner of his mind that's bricking it. Christmas has never gone so well for him, his family are hardly the sort to make festivities anything other than stressful. That of course and there's oh, the tiny little fact that he's brought Nate here with him.

He could really do with a drink, but no, he promised not to do that.

As time goes on, Matt relaxes a little, enjoying the festivities. Most of the time he can be found with Nate, sitting closer to each other on a sofa than any friends ever would, but at other times he tries to help out as much as he can, offering help in the kitchen or just about wherever he can. At some point he might even end up with the apron on with 'kiss me, I'm Irish' written on it.

He's pretty pleased about it. ]

[Nate waits until everyone is distracted with drinks and celebrations to sneak over to find Matt in the kitchen and press a quick peck to his cheek while he's got that apron on.]

Only following orders.

[He says, gesturing to the printed words. Still, he hopes that was okay. Matt had said they could be here as a couple, but that doesn't mean he won't run scared once it's a real thing.]

[ Matt's in the middle of piling up some mini sausage rolls onto a tray when Nate approaches him. When he's kissed, he does glance back to see if the door is open. It's not that he's worried people will see, not really, more like a nervous sort of instinct. He's trying to get over it.

He smiles though, maybe glad they aren't being observed, or more likely just glad he's there. ]

Oh and you like following orders, do you? Here, have a sausage roll.

[Fairly early in the evening, Andrew finds Matt when Nate has wandered off for food or drink. He just wants a quick moment alone with him.]

How are ya, mate? Holdin up alright?

[He...might be concerned of how Matt is doing with the whole bringing his boyfriend to a family function thing.]

[ Matt is nursing a glass of orange juice as though it's a beautiful single malt. Maybe in his head he wishes it was. He's a little on edge, but doing his best, hoping it'll feel easier soon. When Andrew approaches he looks over and nods. ]

Yeah, yeah no I'm good. Thanks for the invite, man, your folks are great.
