[ That statement makes him shift a bit on the spot, looking down at the ground. ]

Do I look like I'm holding it in? [ He asks, sounding slightly exasperated, but not really at her, just himself. ]

I brought my boyfriend here didn't I?

Oh, he's a boyfriend now? Bit more than just a thing.

You think I'd bring him to Christmas if it wasn't?

[ He gives her a look. The sort of look he used to give her back in primary school. Some things never change. ]

Yeah it's more than just a thing.

Alright. See? Feel better? I feel better. Open lines of communication are important! [ okay that was just some bs she heard on dr phil, but it's probably true. ] Speaking of, I sort of have something to tell you, too.

Yeah well I'm glad you feel better.

[ He smirks a bit, and gives her another gentle friendly shove, before raising his brow a bit. ]

Oh yeah? What's that then?

So back before you got here an' all. To the knights, yeah, not like, existing, 'cause you've got me beat on that. Anyway, I was on this mission, in Egypt, complete rubbish, got a sunburn, died a bit...

[ Any playful air fades away as he listens to her talk. At first, he thinks he's heard her wrong, that his ears are playing a trick on him. But then that's not the sort of thing you mishear, is it?

He looks at her, mouth a little apart, dumbfounded like he can't believe what she's just said, and so fucking casually at that, like she's telling him she popped to Nandos, not that she carked it.

He isn't entirely sure what to do, but when his brain catches up with himself he finds that he's speaking with a voice full of concern. ]

What d'you fucking mean you died?

[sorceresslite]

I mean a mummified dragon ate a hole through me and I proper died. [ she's defensive because, well, she's talking about dying and it's just habit to be defensive. fiddling with the ring on her middle finger, she pulls if off and there's a sudden change in her appearence: already pale skin turning ashen and ghostly, stark against her vibrant hair. and her eyes, the brilliant green disappears, leaving only chalky white behind and the pinprick of blank pupils. ] I'm dead.

[ Matt has pretty much always got something to say, some smart quip or cheeky remark, but not now. Now he's entirely silent as he watches her. Part of him expects it to be a prank, her pulling his leg, and he almost says as much. But he knows that she's not. He knows that this isn't a joke, and there's fuck all funny about it.

When Matt was a boy, Ella was his best friend. She's in some of his oldest memories, or the good ones at least. She was the one person he used to tell things he wouldn't dare tell anybody.

She died, and he never even knew.

When he speaks, it's barely above a whisper, and he shakes his head. ] Jesus, El.

[ And whether she wants it or not, she's getting two big Irish arms wrapped around her as as he pulls her into a hug against his chest. ]

Are you all right-- I mean you know-- fuck.

[sorceresslite]

Oof! [ it's muffled against his chest because she's basically just smooshed into his abs. damn son, you work out??? but she twists her head to tip her chin up. ] I'm fine now, just not alive anymore. It's fucking mad, it is. Only Finn and Andrew know, probably Bo, so don't tell anyone. Including that bloke of yours. Not yet.

[ He totally does. It's gr9. Not the time? Oh okay. He doesn't let her go though, holding on like she might start to dissolve or something if he lets her go. ]

You're not fucking kidding it's mad. [ Matt's still getting used to this whole 'bringing people back from the dead' thing. But then she's not even that though, is she? She's still... dead? He sort of wants to ask her how that's even possible, but maybe he shouldn't. Is it one of those taboo areas? Fuck knows, and when he thinks about it? He's not sure if matters if it is. ]

Yeah, yeah course I won't. So how's it work? I mean, you're looking pretty fucking good for a corpse.

[ And okay another squeeze because he doesn't like using that word and meaning her. ]

I dunno. [ it's not a cop out and she doesn't seem fussed about talking about it now that it's actually out. nor does she seem bothered by being called a corpse. but ella is blunt. ] This twat mummy sorcerer brought me back like her fucking pet but I wasn't havin' any of that and we killed her and now I'm just sort of... this.

[byrned]

You're fucking brilliant that's what you are. [ He won't be hearing otherwise, and he'd fight anybody who dare go against him. ]

So nobody knows? Not even Wynn? Like how this shit works?

[sorceresslite]

No, Wynn knows, of course Wynn knows. And Lis'sa and Dimitri and Phineas and Riddick, everyone that was on the mission with me, seein' as they watched me die.

[byrned]

No I mean like... nobody knows how this shit works? Like how you're just... [ he waves a hand. ]

You know. Looking pretty good for a dead chick.

[sorceresslite]

[ her shoulders lift in a shrug. ] You really know nothing about magic, do you? There's spells to bring people back as undead. I could do them if I wanted to learn. I mean, you're meant to have a whole body and Dimitri said I was mostly ash, but the Pharaoh was incredibly powerful.

I didn't even know actual magic was a thing before I came here. Other than that lord of the rings type bullshit in the movies. But all this?

[ He shakes his head. ]

Sometimes I think I've gone fucking crazy. But if magic can keep you-- you then bring it the fuck on, that's what I say.

[sorceresslite]

I'm so glad you like magic now, [ she says dryly, rolling her eyes with good humor. ] Considering I am magic.
