[Wanda steps into the kitchen for a snack herself -- she's so excited for a peanut butter with bananas sandwich -- and she definitely doesn't expect to see the face of a person she hasn't seen in six years there in the kitchen as well. That makes her stop for a moment. And then in her very normal, not-enhanced-with-super-speed-at-all pace, which surely seems very slow to him, she runs over to him. When she speaks a second later, it's in Sokovian, and not spoken with a casual or light tone, but she isn't sure what else to start with, so: ]

You found your way home.

[No, this isn't Sokovia -- or even what's left of it. This isn't even their world. But neither of those matter, not the way she speaks of them now in this context, because 'home' is always considered to be where they both are.]

[snarkastic]

[This would probably be a much more touching moment for him if there wasn't roughly half a loaf of bread in his mouth. He reaches out to hug her with one arm, murmuring an appreciative sound, while he reaches for a large glass of water with the other hand. After a solid 30 seconds of delicious water (the hugging continues throughout), he finally speaks, using the Sokovian so familiar to them both.]

Hey there. I guess I did.

[Do you think she is about to let go? Because no she is not. N O P E. She is clinging right now.

lalala continuing in Sokovian. ok let's just assume that they're not switching to English anytime soon.]

What took you so long? Did the veil here take your speed, and it took you six years to get here?

[she says it like she's maybe joking, but no she's kinda serious too.

spoilers: she's been here a long ass time.]

Don't you mean six months? I know living without me is hard, but surely it wasn't that bad?

[He's amused by his usually-very-precise sister's supposed slip/joke. Because why would she be serious about this hahahahahahaha...sigh]

Yes, it is -- [she can't argue that] -- but, no.

[ha. haha. hahaha. hahahaha.

I actually mean years. As in, you are very, very, v e r y late. [sry bro.] I've been here nearly that whole time. I spent my first three, almost four, months looking for you across various points of Europe. During that, I made some connections with people here and was brought in. [She leaves much of the details out, just waiting for what he has to say to all of that.]

[snarkastic]

So...magic portals...are strange.

[No mystery. No confusion. No followup questions. Just problem ==> solution with this guy.]

Got it. But I am very glad to see you again, Wanda. We are together again.

[That gets a short laugh. He's not wrong, though.]

I am too. [It's nice seeing other familiar faces from home here, but his was the one she missed the most.] As it should be. [She'd grown used to the feeling of something being always slightly off balance with her without her twin here too.]

And you missed the latest excitement here, so at least there is that. [The attack on the castle. Which, honestly, she's glad he missed. It had been too familiar for her -- attacks on a home, the building being ruined, even down to the damn robot mages she fought. Both of them don't need to relive traumas from when they were ten and then the battle against Ultron twice like that.]

[snarkastic]

[His uncertainty completely forgotten, cockiness resumes in 3, 2, 1...]

It couldn't have been too exciting, I wasn't there! You know all the cool stuff happens when I'm around.

Just don't tell anyone that he usually starts the "cool stuff", regrets it, and usually relies on Wanda to help put out the metaphorical (or literal) fires.]

[She finally pulls away, and sighs, rubbing her forehead.] No, I mean exciting as in ... castle attacked, and in the middle of that, I was with others fighting robot mages. [NOTHING ABOUT THAT WAS "COOL".]

[snarkastic]

[Oof, twin sympathy pains, now Pietro's head hurts too.]

Ah, so the new windows out front weren't as planned as I thought.

[k but really tho, he gets serious here.]

It sounds like you went through hell. How are you holding up?

[Growing up on a steady diet of trauma and fear with someone means that Peety has become quite familiar with Wanda's more pained expressions. For all his snark and bravado, it cuts him to his core when he sees Wanda like this, and he becomes eager to set things right, however that might be. Protective Sibling Mode is now active.]

Initially, not well. I lived on a diet of caffeine for the first week or so after so I would sleep as little as possible. Sleeping came with too many bad dreams, both of things that happened in Sokovia and the castle being attacked here. [bleh. no thanks.] I talked to the psychologist here, though, a few days after. It's been almost two months, so I've been able to come back closer to normal.

[snarkastic]

[Despite wanting to crush her in his arms asap, he deliberately moves at a normal pace as he reaches out to hug her again.]


сестрица. I'm so sorry that you had to face that alone. You had it far worse than I did, it seems. Though, I am glad that you are recovering well.

I know you would have been here if you knew, could have. [It's her way of saying he doesn't need to apologize for it.]

Tell me about what you did after you fell into this world.

[snarkastic]

I don't remember too much about the moments after I "fell in," though, the heavy bleeding may have caused that. Fun fact: I'm told that I look very handsome in bandages.

[divaricate]

[And she pulls away again, giving him a "the fuck?" kind of look. Do you have something to share with the class?]

WHY were you bleeding? Heavily? [THERE ARE SO MANY WORDS IN HERE THAT ARE NOT OKAY what the fuck did you do]

[snarkastic]

[Pietro leans back against the kitchen counter, lost in recollection.]
There was...a kid? And he was going to be shot. So, I...saved him, but then got shot myself? And then I was in the field, with the Gorgi's cows. It took me a few months too recover, thankfully Ms Gorgi knows some healing magic. Did you know cows have 4 stomachs? Oh, I got some really cool scars, want to see?

[Cool scars are more important than mental trauma so he begins working his shirt off asap.]

Another part of her ... just punches him in the face with a nat 20, because how dare you pull that kind of a stunt even if she doesn't remember it. Thanks, veil.

(I can't make this shit up; this is the best damn nat 20 I've ever rolled in this game.)

That's it, that's all she has to say about his actions, and no, she really doesn't want to see scars from when he apparently got fucking shot.]

[Well, he didn't see that coming. No, really, his shirt was up over his face at that point. After nearly falling over the counter, he regains his balance (and shirt coverage) before letting out a pained sigh.]

Ok, I guess I deserved that. Nice punch, by the way. You've been training?

[Yyyeah this guy don't hold grudges for long.]

I am glad you're okay and not bleeding heavily anymore. [But, a response of a punch to the face probably also shows how scary and upsetting the thought of him doing something like that again is to her.] But you could have been less casual about telling me of your heroic stunts that are dumb because they get you shot. [just s a y i n g.]

[As for the training..] Sometimes. [At least it wasn't one of her energy bolts or something.]

And, punch to the face aside, I'm sorry I didn't know and wasn't there for you either during your first months here. Waiting a few months to recover must have felt like the slowest thing in the world to you. [A pause.] This whole ... different experiences thing is weird. [They'd always shared the same experiences, until she showed up here first a few years ago. Then she came here and started experiencing things without him by her side, and he was later to the 'falling through the veil party' than she had been and he's had his own experiences for the few months he's been here.]
