[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of these few months. Because not everyone is into parties, ok. Characters who are not currently squired in may also post, as their characters are living in the castle awaiting their ceremonies. This takes place after the Knights have returned from Dimitris' wedding.
You are encouraged to start your own threads and tag around, and feel free to threadjack into any on-going threads that aren't specified as 'closed' in the subject lines since people can enter into rooms even in the middle of what's going on. WE ARE BIG ON THREAD-JACKING HERE. You can also specify 'single thread', meaning you want only one response for all participants, rather than multi-thread, where a number of different scenes/threads can be done as replies to the top prompt.]

Risa catches his eye on more than one occasion, largely because she seems to not want to draw attention to herself. She keeps to herself and moves quickly from place to place, but his own fondness for the castle libraries and all they have to offer grants him an opportunity to actually engage her after what he figures must have been an entire week of sitting back and simply watching.
He casually strolls up to the shelf next to the one she's currently browsing, hands clasped behind his back as he keeps his eyes trained on the spines of the books, even as he speaks to her.]
You don't like talking to people much, do you?
no subject
maybe it's the fact that he startled her or maybe she's trying this honesty thing on for size, but she replies bluntly, ] I don't like people much.
[ but she really should be nicer than that, shouldn't she? even if they have never, up until she got dragged here anyway, been nice to her. ]
Is it a crime to look at books? [ nope. still not helping. ] I mean...
[ SIGH. she is the literal best at this. yep. ]
no subject
[Hence, he supposes, the visit to the library. He casts her a sidelong glance, a smile pulling at one side of his mouth.]
You're newer, aren't you? So am I.
no subject
[ especially if they heard the story from the team that was sent to italy and stumbled upon her. she's sure that one's good for a couple of jollies. she returns her attention to the books. ]
Barely met my mentor. You?
no subject
I did meet mine, unfortunately. She's a tyrant. I hope you make out better than I did.
[Nevermind the fact that Taradiddle is probably his best friend. Still a tyrant.]
Sir Gesundheit is a tirelessly overbearing taskmaster.
no subject
I'll trade. Mine's too bubbly to get around. She's half of the enthusiastic brigade and I'm tired already.
no subject
[Tara is delightfully sarcastic; he'll complain, but he'd never trade her in.]
Who did you get?
no subject
Sir Lyons. I guess I'm lucky I already know her. She helped bring me here.
[ not that this makes the whole bubbly thing any better. ]
no subject
[Which is why, he feels, he has the right to complain about her.]
Don't think I've met yours, though. How bubbly we talking?
no subject
On a scale of simmering to oozing? She's bursting with it.
no subject
[He lays a hand over his heart, wincing.]
So, along with avoiding people, what else is it that you do?
[aka time to pry about her talents, whatever they may be]
no subject
except then he asks that question. ] Nothing-- [ (bluff 13) ] --special.
no subject
Well, it doesn't have to be special. [He doesn't pick up on much coming from her at the moment (Sense Motive 14), but everyone has some kind of skill, however mundane.] We're all here for a reason. What Sect do you have your eye on, then?
no subject
I don't. Whatever one won't force me to do anything. [ pause. ] Other than all of this. I don't even know that much about them. Or me.
[ she really, really doesn't. her memory is more like a blank piece of parchment. ]
no subject
[But he offers her a grim smile all the same, a show of solidarity.]
I don't remember much of anything, either-- from before.
no subject
[ seriously, though, she just wants to minimize the chances of getting laughed at. ]
I think a lot of people seem to lose things, but I've never met anyone who's lost as much as I have.
no subject
[A lack of caution, maybe, but he could certainly stand to exercise more of it.]
That's quite a claim. Perhaps it would be easier to ask you what you haven't lost.
no subject
My name. A tent. A couple of vague people. No names or faces. Giant ants. [ she still swears they were giant ants but who knows. ] Nothing else.
[ yep. nothing else. nothing at all (bluff 13). ]
no subject
[From the list she offers, that definitely stands out. He squints for a moment, curious (Sense Motive 14), but follows up with a shrug.]
Sounds rough. I don't remember much in the way of names or faces, either. Just my own, and a whole lot of magic.
no subject
You got pulled through a Veil like I did, but you're stuck on giant ants?
[ don't laugh okay. just don't. ]
That's all? Hmm maybe you and I aren't that far apart.
[ QUIETLY not mentioning magic or psionics nooope. ]
no subject
[He remembers a few monstrosities of his own, but what a thing to remember.]
But yes-- that's all. Anything else turns up rather vague.
no subject
Vague feelings for memories, but no actual faces, names, or anything that really matters? [ huh. ] Congratulations. I think you might be even with me.
[ they should form a club. the failing to remember club. ]
We could make up everything and no one would know.
no subject
It could be fun, couldn't it? Making it up as we go? Inventing the sort of lives we might like to have-- or very tragic backstories if we're looking for sympathy.
no subject
Or the kind that tells everyone not to mess with us and just leave us alone. Yeah. I like all of these options.
[ not that's too likely to get elaborate rather than just evade the questions, but hey. it's the thought, right? ]
no subject
[A little too solitary-sounding for him, but to each their own.]
You're really not all that interested in getting to know your fellow Knights, are you?
