[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of these few months. Because not everyone is into parties, ok. Characters who are not currently squired in may also post, as their characters are living in the castle awaiting their ceremonies.  This takes place after the Knights have returned from Dimitris' wedding.

[ still making it her mission to make herself right at home in the castle, caroline flits around like a butterfly at all hours of the day. it's common to find her in the library with a small stack of books and her laptop open, looking a lot like she's studying.

the training room and gym are other staples, practicing or kickboxing or running on a treadmill. this perfect body doesn't perfect itself. (it does, actually, but caroline enjoys the exercise.) she's trying hard not to disappoint davin, but she also doesn't really know what to expect from anything so against her personality, she mostly has to wing it.

she's also a staple of fixing coffee in the kitchen. you all thought elena had a problem... ]

[ some random day in late march, caroline finds sam in the library and stops in front of the table he's at, leaning over to flatten her palm against the text he's perusing to interrupt him, bright smile splashed across her expression when he looks up. ]

Let's go see a movie. There's one about bunnies! Or aliens and John Goodman, but [ her nose crinkles. ]

[familybusiness]

[Sam looks up with mild surprise at first, because hello pretty girl in his face out of nowhere, but his expression seems to relax easily enough.]

Aliens or bunnies, huh?

Yup, those are your choices. Or that one where Leo is mauled by a bear and Tom Hardy looks like a foot. [ the way her expression scrunches seems to say "please no". she only likes to look at leo when he's clean shaven. ]

[familybusiness]

[Well he can miraculously tell which one she wants to see (sense motive 28), so he grins.]

Bunnies it is, then.

[ she leans in a little closer, voice dropping even as a smile spreads across her lips. ]

Now, you're super smart, but I've noticed you can be kinda dumb, which I think is charming, so I'm not going to be subtle. This is a date, I'm asking you on a date.

[His expression morphs into one of surprise because, as she said, he's dumb. He is so bad at this.

A smile spreads across his face even as his eyes drop to the ground, his grin shifting between pleased and awkward and back again.]

You don't want to date me, Caroline.

Oooh coffee.

[That is going to be his priority at the moment, while he balances the bakery box in one hand. He doesn't know Caroline, but she seems pretty friendly so why not.]

Would you like to join me for a piece of delicious pineapple upside-down cake?

[ caroline holds up a finger in shawn's face as she takes a bracing gulp of coffee, breathing in the warm scent coming from the mug. it's too early for people. but when she draws the mug away from her face and licks her lips, she always draws her finger away from shawn's mouth. ]

I would love to. Where do you find pineapple upside down cake in London? I thought they only had spotted dick and scurvy.

[His eyebrows go up at the finger in his face, but they resume their normal position when she actually starts speaking to him.]

There's a bakery I've been working on since I got here. I solved a couple of small problems for them, they bake me upside down cake.

Do you have to supply the pineapples?

No! Fortunately for me, he had a guy who could supply them.

Pineapples aren't native around here, are they? It's not a real tropical climate.

[ It's too early for Maggie-May (and by early, that means it's probably somewhere around noon). She's used to sleeping all day and working at night, so she's been working on transitioning to daytime again.

She stumbles into the kitchen, eyes half-closed as she yawns. ] Is that coffee fresh? Please, god, tell me it's fresh.

[highlyemotional]

[ caroline's flipping through a magazine, stirring her lunch of cheerios. ]

It's, like, four hours old. [ so. no. ] There's definitely one cup left though.

[uncareful]

[ Whining miserably: ] Foda-se...

[ She drags her feet crossing through the kitchen, and cringes when she smells the dregs remaining in the pot. ] Eech. [ That last remaining cup is dumped out in the sink. Maggie-May starts banging through the cabinets, looking for the filters and coffee. ] There's always some goddamn smartass who leaves just a little so they don't have to make the next pot.

Language! [ she doesn't need to know the language to recognize the tone. ] I made the first three pots, someone else can take over.

[ SO THERE. ]

[ She turns her face into her raised arm, rubbing her cheek to hide the 'is this chick for real' look that flashes briefly. Who the hell yells 'language' at a grown-ass woman? Are there kindergartners about? ] The first three pots do jack-shit for me right now.

[ Some god smiles upon her as she finds the coffee. ] Besides, were you the one who drank the second-to-last cup and left that pouquinho de mijo in there?

Yes, because I made the pot for myself. I'm not a maid. [ make it yo damn self. ]

[ grant petersen doesn't look like he's gotten a lot of sleep in the last... couple years. it's fine. he's browsing through the library near to where caroline is cooped up, looking like a man on a mission, and nearly runs into her as he's inching sideways along the stack ] Oh, I didn't-- Excuse me.

[highlyemotional]

Ugh, it's fine. [ i mean, it doesn't sound like it's fine, but she slams the book she was going through shut with a sharp huff of air. ] I don't need a high school diploma anyway, this is fine.

[ yes, she was studying for school. not even the veil will make her a high school drop out! ]

...do you need, like, an entire pot of coffee?

[ he doesn't dignify that with an answer, taking a moment to stay at her again ] You're in High School?

Yes? Am I just supposed to abandon my education because some mystical force decided to ruin my life? [ death couldn't stop caroline from graduating, the veil wasn't going to either. ]
