[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of these few months. Because not everyone is into parties, ok. Characters who are not currently squired in may also post, as their characters are living in the castle awaiting their ceremonies. This takes place after the Knights have returned from Dimitris' wedding.
You are encouraged to start your own threads and tag around, and feel free to threadjack into any on-going threads that aren't specified as 'closed' in the subject lines since people can enter into rooms even in the middle of what's going on. WE ARE BIG ON THREAD-JACKING HERE. You can also specify 'single thread', meaning you want only one response for all participants, rather than multi-thread, where a number of different scenes/threads can be done as replies to the top prompt.]

arrival }
Shawn's seen a lot of things since he fell through the Veil, but that is not one of them and since he was present when the castle was (very recently) under attack and he doesn't recognize this guy and he is trying to be a more responsible knight now.
So he's going to do what Shawn does best.
Let out a very girly scream as though that will sound the alarm.
He's helpful, this one.]

Also, that's really not dispelling Solas' somewhat dubious opinion that he's wandered into some fancy
idioticOrlesian dandy's abode, despite the very strange.... whatever it is you are wearing. (Not that he is one to talk.) He turns at the exclamation, nonplussed, and arches an eyebrow at the shrieking human in a mixture of amusement and long-suffering indignation. ]Was that really necessary?
1/2
As a result he's just going to scream some more with spazzy handflailing and jumping up and down. It's really just a mess of spasticness that helps no one.
Thankfully someone more helpful is coming.]

[ she spots solas and it clicks a little bit, some of the concern fading into fond exasperation. ] An elf. Shawn, you're screaming about an elf.
no subject
He fixes the young woman with a patently grateful expression upon her sudden arrival appearance. Ah, a sensible person. What a relief. ]
He is indeed. I do believe I've startled your companion unwittingly.
no subject
.... came through the mirror!
no subject
[ on that note, ] Hi, I'm Alice.
[ there's a reason she knows what the power of walking through a looking glass is called. ]
no subject
[ He listens to her try to soothe the human, taking in her words with a faint tilt of his head as he commits that word to memory - an unfamiliar one to him, and not quite how he'd ended up here, but he keeps that bit to himself for the moment. ]
It was not my intent to cause a panic. Actually, if you might enlighten me as to where I've arrived, I would appreciate your assistance. This... was not where I meant to find myself, I'm afraid.
[ He finds it more peculiar that this human female is familiar with any sort of transportation magics - as far as he's seen, it's long since fallen into the forgotten arts in Thedas. He's fairly certain not even Tevinter retains this knowledge. Apparently he's wandered even farther than he'd anticipated. ]
no subject
London. Sort of. I think we're technically London adjacent, but London, basically. In England. On the planet Earth.
[Sometimes people need these qualifications.]
no subject
Where did you mean to find yourself? [ there's an assumption she wants to make (wis 22), but not just yet. not until she's sure. ]
no subject
I've never heard of such a place. [ He confesses it honestly after a moment, unsure what that means and certainly not liking any of the implications of it. ] The Eluvian I was activating was meant to take me into the mountains of the Anderfels.
[ Or so he'd thought. ]
no subject
[And now Shawn is relaxing and smiling because dude! SO DID HE.]
Happened to me too, man. Super disorienting.
no subject
but maybe if she just explains it further?? ] The Veil between worlds, he means. You must have stepped through the mirror in your world and come out in this world... Damn, I am so relevant in these Wonderland shenanigans.
no subject
You know of the Veil. But this is nowhere I have seen within Thedas or the Fade.
[ He knows the expanses of both well - or had, once. But her words indicated that there were more than the two known to him? ]
You're saying that this is yet another world set apart by the Veil?
[ Was that even possible? ]
no subject
[Shawn Spencer: still the most helpful.]
no subject
Yes, I'm saying exactly that. It's not incredibly uncommon, actually, the Veil has been thin enough to pull people in for... as long as I've been alive, I think. My brother-in-law came through from Faerûn when I was little. It used to be that the Veil was only thin between this world and Faerûn, but now it's opening to other worlds, like your and Shawn's.
no subject
I don't... [ The concept leaves him reeling for a moment, barely able to contemplate it. ] You have mages here? Experts who study the Veil, possess knowledge in its workings?
no subject
[That's so helpful, Shawn. But he will also promptly turn and point him in the right direction (navigate nat 20).]
They're right over there.
no subject
You'll probably want to speak with Hasmed, he's sort of the head mage.
no subject
[ Solas commits the name to memory with a faint dip of his head, straightening once more as he tucks his hands behind him and eyes them patiently, satisfied that they can take him to someone with answers so he can get this misunderstanding cleared up.
Hopefully with less shrieking this time around? ]
Very well. I would like to speak to your head mage. Take me to him, if you will?
no subject
[And off he will go to lead the way to Hasmed's office. Why does he know where Hasmed's office is? Probably because he wants a magical weapon of some kind. Hasmed so far has had the good sense not to give it to him, despite his insistence.]
no subject
[ and we're walking, we're walking, we're walking. ]
no subject
[ He's using the word 'surprised' here lightly. ]
Have others wandered through the Veil to find themselves here?
[ Although perhaps not so many elves, considering the man's reaction to the sight of him. ]
no subject
I did. But I didn't walk out of a mirror into the middle of the castle.
no subject
I had not anticipated stepping out here anymore than you anticipated finding me. Still, I apologize for any alarm I caused.
