[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of these few months. Because not everyone is into parties, ok. Characters who are not currently squired in may also post, as their characters are living in the castle awaiting their ceremonies.  This takes place after the Knights have returned from Dimitris' wedding.

[After meeting with Wynn regarding the news of her new squire, Kate sets out to seek him out, wandering through the castle to try and see if she can find him. It takes her a little time (search 16), but eventually her detective skills lead her outside where she finds the tall, curly-haired teenager hanging out in the gardens.]

Isaac?

[cramped]

[ Isaac hears her coming from a mile away (listen 30) but it isn't until she calls him directly by name that he cares enough to turn to look at her. ]

Yeah?

[killmypatience]

[There's a small smile in return as she steps forward and holds out a hand.]

My name's Kate Beckett. I'm going to be your mentor.

[cramped]

[ Isaac gingerly unfolds his long, lanky legs out from underneath of him and rises off the stone bench upon which he was just perched. He wipes his hand off on the leg of his pants before he reaches to take hers -- giving it a quick shake. ]

Oh! Hey. It's nice to meet you. [ Manners. He has them sometimes. ]

Um... So does that make you... I mean, are you like me? [ A werewolf? ]

[Kate pauses for a moment, before shaking her head.]

No. As far as I know I'm human.

[Though that's been a bit up for debate as of late.]

Wynn filled me in, though.

[cramped]

Alright, cool. [ That makes things a hell of a lot easier. ]

When do we start?

[killmypatience]

Officially? Not until after you're squired. But I figure before we get into training or anything like that we could get to know each other a bit, and I can answer any questions you may have about the Knighthood.

[She is here to be helpful, and just get to know her squire a bit and see which way he may want to take things.]

[cramped]

[ Isaac nods. After a moment, he asks: ]

How long have you been a Knight?

[killmypatience]

Almost three years.

[She slides her hands in her pockets as she makes her way closer.]

I was recruited in November of 2013.

[cramped]

Wow.

[ It's slowly starting to sink in how real this all is. That this is his life now. That he can kiss Beacon Hills goodbye. ]

Do you miss it? Your life before all of this?

[killmypatience]

[She shakes her head.]

Because there's nothing to miss. When I came through the Veil, I lost everything about my life before. I got lucky that I had my license on me - at least that way I had my name.

[cramped]

[ Isaac briefly wonders what that might be like -- to wake up one day and not remember anything about your past. He wonders if he would prefer it if he could know any better. He wonders if the nightmares would stop. But he doesn't voice these thoughts to Kate. Nor does he pry any further for the moment. Instead, he rubs the back of his neck. ] Huh. [ A thoughtful noise is all she gets, before he asks instead- ] Is there anything you wanted to know? About me?

Well, I don't know a lot about werewolves.

[She could have asked Wynn, but she'd rather hear it from Isaac.]

Anything I should know if we decide to do some one-on-one training?

[cramped]

[ He shrugs. ]

Well for one thing, I can't turn into an actual wolf. Some people can but it's not really all that common where I'm from. And the whole turning during the full moon thing? That's kinda true but it's not the only time we can do the shift. In fact, I can pretty much change as much or as little of myself as I want.

[ Which he will now demonstrate -- by letting his fingernails grow into claws, right in front of her eyes. ]

[killmypatience]

[Her eyes widen a bit at the extension of the claws, before she leans forward to study them curiously.]

Impressive.

[And it is. They could probably do a lot of damage.]

Have you always been a werewolf?

[cramped]

Nah. [ He shakes his head. ] I got the bite a couple of years ago. Voluntarily.

[killmypatience]

[She nods slowly.]

And I take it since you got it willingly, you had someone to teach you the ins and outs?

[cramped]

Yeah. [ Derek won't be winning any Teacher of the Year awards but he at least took care of all the basics. ] Something like that.

[killmypatience]

[She nods a bit as she processes that.]

If you need help, I've heard that there are a few werewolves around. I know it's not something I can help with directly, but I also know that the Veil can ... mess with things, on occasion.

[cramped]

Yeah, that's what I've heard. [ Isaac sighs. He doesn't miss the early days, the fear of losing control during a full moon. ] Cora, the girl who found me -- I knew her back home. But I guess that she doesn't remember me here.

[killmypatience]

[She nods, making a face.]

The Veil is tricky that way. But from what I understand, there are a few people from that neck of the woods around. Even if she doesn't remember you, that doesn't mean all of them won't.

[cramped]

I guess my friend Scott does at least. [ Apparently that's who had confirmed to Cora that he was telling the truth about knowing her. ]

So, what's the Squiring Ceremony like anyway?

[killmypatience]

The ceremony itself is pretty straight forward. You walk up with the rest of the new recruits, go through the oath, and once that's all done, you can get out of the armor and head to the party.

[There's a lot of parties around here. They may love their parties a little too much.]

Once you're squired, you'll be sent out on missions for the knighthood, and when you're sure that this is what you're looking for, you'll be promoted to a full knight and we can decide what sect works best for you.

[cramped]

[ Wait, did she just say-- ]

Armor?

[killmypatience]

[She laughs, before nodding.]

You do have to wear armor for the ceremony - but after that, you don't have to wear it unless you feel you need it. It's mostly ceremonial.
