Huh? [Faye glances up from her phone, not realizing how intently she had been staring at it.] No, I'm-- [She stops and her shoulders drop a little.] Do you know much about learning new languages?

Well, I'm not an expert, but I've picked up a few since my arrival here. What were you hoping to learn?

I decided to try to learn Chinese. And it's... sort of impossible.

Nothing is impossible.  [ she gives her an encouraging smile ]  Just different degrees of challenging.

Well, this is on the 'very' side, then. [She sighs and puts both elbows on the table, burying her face in her hands. She's been at this all day and has a headache. Ugh.]

You should have seen me when I tried to learn Draconic. All those guttural noises... I thought a human could never even pronounce them, let alone master them.

...You speak dragon? No wonder Gold's got it bad.

[ that's just the tiniest hint of a blush, but her warm smile says she dun even care. ] Coi ultroi hefoc nomeno. [ the words have a harsh edge to them that makes german sound pretty. ] "It sounds like that."

Wow. Do you run into a lot of dragons to talk to?

No, but Sir Koraith is always willing to practice.

He's the... bulky one, right? With the- [She makes a vague motion over her entire face. HE LOOKS WEIRD. At least she's not just saying that. I guess she leveled up and got some tact. Some.]

Draconic features? They're rather difficult to miss.

How does that even work? I mean I haven't seen a dragon up close and personal but I'm pretty sure they're pretty...big. Right? So was his mother human?

Either one of his parents might have been. After all, there are legends of dragons who can polymorph for a short time into other species, often to blend in better. Good dragons, like gold ones, can be very friendly, but many people are intimidated when facing a dragon.

That... makes sense. It's not nearly as interesting. Could end up with some Jerry Springer worthy stories, though.

I would hope most of them - particularly the good ones - would make their mate aware of what was going on, at least.

We all hope that they'll be good ones, but that's not always the case.

No, I suppose it isn't. Nevertheless, that's... how it's accomplished.

Good to know. [How??? How is that good to know???] Maybe I should just stick to magic and leave the languages to... anyone else who has the patience for this.

Well, no one learns them all at once. Also, there are spells that can help you understand or speak other languages, if magic is your specialty.

Wait, really? [She sits up a little straighter.] Maybe I need to pay more attention to Gold and Hasmed.

They do know what they're talking about when it comes to magic.

They should. They've lived basically forever.

That might be a bit of an exaggeration.
