Two bodies have been found in downtown London, likely the victims of attacks by some sort of Shadow creature. To prevent a panic, the police are investigating the matter as a dog attack and a potential robbery, while slipping the case under the table to Wynn and his Knights to look into further. Whatever did this is big, nasty, and seems to have taken down the victims without their even struggling. For now, the team is splitting up to look into the crime scenes more closely.

[ the most interesting thing that will would discover is that there are no signs that the victim was running away from the creature. at any point. his steps seem to have brought him to the dock, where he stopped, and remained in place until he was brutally mauled. it seems strange that he wouldn't have ran away if he had spotted the creature, so whatever caused the lack of struggle seems to have happened before that occurred. ]

Considering there's no trail, are we sure that the fur and the markings aren't being planted?

Either that or maybe the thing can fly, too.

Maybe. [will frowns, unsure.] There isn't anything to indicate the victim running away. He came to the dock, stopped in his tracks, and then stayed in place for the whole mauling. Whatever the creature does to subdue its prey must not require physical contact. If he had seen it, you would think there would be signs of some kind of struggle beforehand.

Unless it swooped down on top of him before he ever saw it. Even then, there should have been some sign of struggle, unless it somehow got into it's head before he even ever came here, but that kind of sounds like a stretch.

Like it planted some sort of suggestion in his head to meet it here at a certain time?

Well, he came down to this specific spot and then didn't move. I'm just trying to think of ways that could have happened. It's plausible, maybe?

I wasn't — I don't have a clear idea of it, either.

I guess our best guesses are some kind of paralyzing agent or mental suggestion, then.

I'm not sure there's anything else we're going to find that might be useful here, though.

Nobody was out here that late. He shouldn't even have been out this way. Greg said he saw him down the bar, drinking more than his share of whiskey, same night.
