The streets of Bern swell with the myriad sights and scents of its industry: the wood and polish of carpenters' shops, tantalizing aromas wafting from dozens of bakeries, and the heavy oil scent of artists.  Meanwhile, hundreds of rich colors give the district an appearance of a holiday festival.  The townhouse of Asheron Coyl comes into view, perched on a small rise that overlooks the street.  A low fence covered in vines abuts the street.  A gate opens onto a flagstone path that wends past frozen flower beds, fountains, and sculpted shrubs to the front doors.  A bell hangs next to the gate, reading "Please ring bell" in several languages.  With an 11 disguise check, Nyna didn't really bother to dress all fancy, opting instead for her paladin armor, sorry guys.   She can be the sexy bodyguard.

[ the winding staircase ascends to a carpeted balcony overlooking the chamber below. a short corridor exits the balcony to the north with two more doors, one in each wall. the moment they get up there, however, a figure standing in the corridor lets out a roar - he wields an antique greataxe, and wears a suit of overlapping green and brown leaves - and he charges right at felicity, attempting to rush off the edge of the balcony. she has to make a strength check to oppose his (str 26), but she gets to add a +2 because of the railing. if she fails, she falls 10 feet to the hard flagstones below, outside the house, but takes no damage. you can post the resolution to that action and then we'll be in init! ]

[YOU WOULD THINK WITH THAT SPOT CHECK SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE PREPARED, BUT YOU ARE WRONG. Felicity is not exactly the queen of upper body strength. She tries, but not hard enough and goes over the balcony fairly easily (strength 3), landing on the ground with a groan.

Felicity! [Stiles shouts as he watches her tumblr over the railing. Gripping his trusty bat, his eyes are wide with panic as he steps up to the creature ( and hopefully leaves room for other melee folk to get their hits in too?) and swings (attack 23, damage...3. He tried)]

[ gus lets out a shout when felicity falls that quickly shifts into a roar as he charges forward, using his wild shape ability to transform into a huge golden lion and leaping at the leaf armored figure, batting at it with one of his huge paws (atk 29; dmg 10). ]

[ Alanna doesn't really have a 'pull back from falling off a balcony' spell prepared, so instead, she casts produce flame and hurls a ball of fire at the figure (ranged touch attack 23, dmg 10). ]

[Cara was not prepared for this, at all, and also can't really contribute from where she's standing. She's just going to keep an eye on things. (spot 14 | listen 19)]

[ stiles moves up in front of it and whacks it, albeit not very hard, but gus' lion claws are much more effective right beside him. a ball of fire flies between them, striking it again, and it turns to make a sunder attempt on stiles' bat, so sorry yo. he got a ... 38 on his opposed attack roll as he brings his greataxe down... STILES COULD ALWAYS NAT 20... unsure....... 24 dmg would probably break it if he doesn't. ]

[Spoiler: Stiles did not nat 20. The bat shatters into splintering chunks of wood. Moment of silence for the bat :( So he'll just try to book it around this asshole since he has no weapons and needs to regroup. And probably get hit as he does but at least one of the bad ass ladies on the team can jump in to do combat stuff??]

[ a big lion paw bats out again, lingering as gus casts poison with a thundering roar for 9 con dmg. (fort save dc 19) also he's going to take a heroic surge just to try to rip his head off again. you know. just lion things. (atk 25, dmg 6) ]

[ Don't look at Alanna for help because she just critfailed her attempt to throw fire. ]

[As Cara's moving toward the target, Alana's fire gets thrown in Cara's direction. (evasion + reflex save 18) She avoids that and continues to attack (atk 25 | dmg 6 / atk 23 | dmg 3) with her two weapons.]

[ he swings at stiles as he moves past him and got a... 27 attack 8| 28 dmg... the enraged warrior saves against the poison, but gets raked by those claws again, and then stabbed by cara. growling, he launches savagely into cara (atk 18/25/13, dmg 22/29/30) shouting: ] Conspirators!

[Felicity is watching all of this from the ground, and when she sees him lay in to Cara, she knows that she can't waste time trying to get back up the stairs and closer. So she just raises her gun, takes aim and takes a shot at the axe wielder (attack 19 with precise shot, damage 15 with penetration damage if that hits).]

[Well, Stiles lost half his hit points but he passed his massive damage roll so that's good. While everyone fights, he'll start looking for something to improvise as a weapon, I guess??? (search 18)]

[ the friendly neighborhood lion is going to skirt around the dude with some weird cat grace (tumble 18), probably leaping over the guy, and put his paw on stiles' back to heal him. which i'm sure is a weird thing to happen. a lion just casually imbuing you with life with a chuffed roar. (cure moderate wounds +20 hp)

mellie, meanwhile, tags in for gus and takes the lion's place with her own roar and just... tries to claw it's face off and rip it's throat out. :) (claw atk 25 & 30, dmg 14 & 13; bite atk 18, dmg 8) ]

[ Now that I know how imbue weapon works, Alanna will be delivering her fire attacks THROUGH HER SWORD LIKE A PROPER KNIGHT. She dives past while he's distracted with Stiles and takes the opportunity to squeeze into the space beside the kid, raising up her crystal blade to give their foe someone else to deal with (tumble 22).

Lifting her blade, she throws all her strength behind a series of horizontal slashes (atk 19, atk 24; dmg 8 + 11 fire damage for the first, dmg 9 + 8 fire damage for the second). ] Watch yourself, Sir Stilinski, and stay behind me! [ Though not blind to his wounds, she wouldn't feel right seeing to them until the evil was conquered. ]

[ felicity's bullet whizzes up through the railing as mellie lumbers forward to tear into him, and then alanna's weapon strikes him like a burning brand and he howls in rage, covered in bloody gashes. the best stiles can find is a letter opener on a table in the hall... which could work as a dagger i guess???

the warrior manages to get out, blood leaking from the corner of his mouth as he chokes on the words: ] Thieves.

[Cara dodges the first attack, but the second one hits her. AC 20. She apparently doesn't want to make that mistake again, so the third one she dodges. She watches as the rest of them make their attempts, but there's something about his reaction to their attacks that makes her hold for a moment, waiting to see if anyone else is going to wonder why he seems to want to waste his time with accusations.]

[ he wields his axe like a madman, lifting it to turn it on alanna, but crit fails, and one of mellie's claws managed to... rip out one of the tendons in his legs or something, causing him to drop to one knee. he tries to swing back at the bear (atk 24, dmg 30) and once at cara, but his strength is clearly nearly gone (atk 9). ]

[Felicity can hear what he's saying from the balcony (listen 31) and it doesn't take much to put together what the warrior is saying (wisdom nat 20). She holds from shooting again and shouts up instead.]

We're not here to steal from you, and we don't work for Archerus. We're here because you're hurting innocent people and we can't let that keep happening.

[There's a beat as she lets that sink in.]

I know Archerus stole from you, but this isn't the way to get back at him.

[Stiles grabs the letter opener and runs back, but there's like...a lion and a bear. And all these bad ass ladies, so??? He'll hold action and use his makeshift dagger if he has to. But for now he just doesn't want to get in the way.]

[ mellie attacks again, but will less gusto because OMG OW. rude man! (claw atk 22 & crit fail, dmg 13 & 6; bite atk 21, dmg 7)

gus roars when mellie is hurt (sorry, stiles' ears) and casts another cure moderate wounds, this time on himself in other to share it with mellie. (+19 hp) ]
