The Knights arrive in Aursaburg to help the villagers with a problem they've been having with a local witch. The little village seems fairly quiet, but the team would be able to hear some rather heated words spoken a bit down the road from them. It escalates to shouting in a hurry, with the most noticeable word of the bunch being 'witch.' Faye glances at the others, realizing that oh shit- I'm in charge. Squaring her shoulders, she gestures for the group to follow her down the road.

"Sounds like our cue." Whatever is going on in this town seems to be happening thatta way.

[And what better way to respond to an Ogre trying to plow you down?! Shoot that bitch. Atk 23, Dmg 12 (Penetration).

[Look at all these bad asses getting penetration damage. Faye is so proud of her team. Too bad her shots aren't nearly as good. Thankfully, she does still hit Thing 1 (attack 24, damage 5).

He looks pretty damn rough, but isn't slowing down as he charges towards the general area of the girls shooting at him.]

[Cora is going to keep tearing apart Thing #2, this time managing to get her claws into him twice (attack 26, damage 18, attack 23, damage 19).]

[Thing 2 looks like he's on his last legs, but he's still snarling and going after Cora (attack 21 damage 27 if it hits)

Thing 1 gets to the girls and turns to go after Faye with a nasty gash to her shoulder (attack 23, damage 17)]

[Taradiddle shoots at thing 2 again cause why mess with what's working? (atk 23, dmg 6).]

Hey Ugly! [Firing Excalibur. (Atk 27, Dmg 8) Thing 1's way.

And then, because Kenzi, she clarifies to Faye.] I meant him, not you!

[Kenzi's shot strikes just the right spot for the ogre to let out a grunt and stagger to the ground, blood bubbling up from his mouth.

Faye fires off another shot, but it goes wide (attack 11).]

Just-- take care of this asshole, would you?

[Meaning anyone, everyone. Teamwork. Or something.]

[You don't have to tell Cora twice. Her guy is almost gone, so she's going to do her best to finish him off (attack 29, damage 15, attack 26, damage 24 with penetration damage).]

[The other ogre does his to let out a roar of rage at his slain brother, but Cora's claws rip out his throat, causing the sound to be strangled as the life slips away.

Fucking finally.

[Faye leans against the nearest tree.]

Everyone okay?

[Cora shifts back easily, shaking the ogre guts from her arms as she does and making a face.]

I'm fine.

[And after that she'll look to scoop up her kitty friend so they can keep going, trying to see if she can find that scent again (survival 17).]

I don't think fine is exactly the word for how I am....

[Super out of spells and still drained of strength, but she's still... technically okay. She's still reasonably uninjured.]

[Faye is also really low on spells and the only way to fix that is... rest.]

We may need to hold off until morning. This has been a non stop shit show and I'm not interested in getting slaughtered by whatever comes next.

[Cora looks hesitant for stopping now, because it feels like they're so close to figuring out what's going on, but she also knows spellcasters need to recoup spells and she glances between Taradiddle and Faye for a moment before sighing.]

If you guys want to stop, I can keep watch.

[It's somewhat begrudging when she does speak up but that's gotta be better than not at all... right?]

And I can... trade off with Cora.

And I can sleep!

[Good plan team.]

Okay, let's just... get some rest so we can get this over with. [Faye doesn't like the idea of sleeping on the ground, but god she's exhausted and knows that her literal firepower will run out if they keep going.]

Cora, if you want to scout around or something, maybe we can have a better idea of where we're going. And someone see if either of those jackasses have anything good on them.

[She shrugs off her jacket to fold it into a makeshift pillow and lays down on the grass to try to rest up.]

[Cora nods and glances to Kenzi, pushing up to her feet and glancing around.]

I'll scope things out and be back to take the next shift. Shout if you run into trouble - I won't be far.

[And with that she will scope things out and see what she finds (move silently 17, listen 20 total, survival nat 20, 28 total, spot 14).]

[And with a little salute, Kenzi will make herself as comfortable as she can (AKA not at all) on the ground and prove that she actually... might not suck at keeping watch. Who'd have known?!

[Cora is going to have no trouble at all tracking where they need to go next. She finds an old stone tower that has sunk halfway into the marsh around it, with only the topmost stories reaching outward from the gray muck in which it is embedded. No vegetation grows in the area around it, which makes it nothing more than a field of mud.

Meanwhile, back at the camp, Kenzi enjoys a nice quiet watch. It's the first moment of peace she's probably had all mission.

Faye snores from her spot curled up on the ground. If you ever mention it, she'll deny it to her grave.]

[Taradiddle curls up comfortably and sleeps soundly. Turns out using up all your spells and losing almost all your strength takes it out of a girl.]

[And Cora will track out to the tower before eventually making her way back and settling down next to Kenzi.]

There's a tower not too far from here. It's surrounded by a marsh, but that's where the trail leads.

Marsh... That's like swamp... Like... how big is this trail? A convenient path that might lead a giant gator straight to us or? We're cool to hang tight til the morning?

I think we're good to stay here until morning. It's a scent trail so no one should be following it but us.

[Unless there's someone else out there who can sniff it out.]

[Shoulders sagging in relief.] Good. Cause I'd like to sleep at some point without worrying about my bones being turned into gator toothpicks.

[Cora nods in agreement, before shifting to rest comfortably against one of the trees.]
