The morning after, the Knights board a plane at their private airfield, and begin the couple hour flight to the country of Slovechnia. Wynn has laid out a plan for them as such, leaving Sir Gar in charge of seeing it executed: they are to send in a few Knights to infiltrate the wedding, while others steal an ambulance from a local hospital. Using magic to make Sarandis think he's having a heart attack during the ceremony, they will intercept the outgoing call to the paramedics, and pose as them to take him out of there and straight to a private airfield to meet with Wynn. They're all aware, however, of just how smoothly their plans tend to go where these villains are involved - especially if the Mind Master shows up.

Either way, it promises to be an interesting day...

[Rose just. Looks at Steve like. Who the what is that?! (Know: PC 6)]

Yeah... I can tell you the name of every song off AC/DC's Back In Black album - [Know PC: Nat 20. Dean is so proud right now.] - but I have... no idea who or what... Trouble Man is.

[ To be honest Steve didn't know Marvin Gaye until Sam so you shouldn't feel bad, Rose. He didn't even know the Beatles for a while. Which is apparently what makes you public enemy number one if you ever tell another living soul. ]

I'll add AC/DC to my list. [ He doesn't have it with him. ] Marvin Gaye. My friend Sam introduced me to it when I was recovering in the hospital after a pretty bad run in with multiple bullets and passing out under water.

See, then you'll have something to talk to Dean about. [Nobody is shocked that Rose's Pop Culture knowledge has been heavily influenced by Dean.

Rose squints at him during that explanation.] And people think I'm a magnet for trouble. [A beat.] You should really start avoiding places that have water of any kind.

Almost dying is kind of my job title back home I think. [ He pauses. ] Most days.

[ He smiles suddenly. ]

I've jumped out of a window twenty floors up. My shield absorbed the damage, but it definitely did smart.

Well now you're just bragging. [Grin widening to show she's teasing.] I still say that shield will only slow you down.

[Yes but not everyone is like you Rose. Not everybody has a ridonculous armor class and can barely get hit by the average enemy.]

It didn't slow me down out there. Came in handy. It acts as a projectile if I can't close the distance fast enough.

[ Hey. Feel free to brag too, Rose. This is an open bragging friendly conversation right here. ]

If you say so. [Eyebrows raised. Sorry Bro. You are never going to convince her that a shield is a good idea. Mostly because she's had Eighteen years of learning that speed is your best weapon against an enemy.

Slayer life.]

But I don't make a habit of jumping from twenty story buildings, so.

[She just. Stabbed a man so hard that her stake went through his chest. Rose isn't feeling the bragging today.]

I don't do it every day. It was a specific jump. My organization I was working for sorta--turned on me. [ HYDRA the cockroach that'll never die. ] So, I wasn't just jumping out of the window for the hell of it.

Sure you weren't. Admit it. You're a thrill seeker. You're not happy unless you're doing death-defying stunts.

[ He's quiet for a moment. Lost in a hazy memory. One centered around a man that he can never place. Never truly glimpse. ]

Ya know a long time ago I would have disagreed. I wanted nothing more than to serve my country, do my part and then settle down. I wanted a family and a life. [ He shrugs. ] I don't know what I'd do now if I couldn't help people.

[Rose considers his words, her drink poised at her lips. As somebody who never imagined a life beyond the one she was living now? She's not sure how to relate to Steve on this. Having a family and settling down had never been part of the equation. That wasn't what you did when you were a Guardian.

She wasn't a Guardian anymore, though.]

Why can't you do both?

It's hard to find someone that accepts that you put yourself on the line every day because it's the right thing to do. Not a lot of people understand that.

[ That and Steve just didn't date. He'd had a few, but it's hard. Not what he knows. Or remembers from Bucky's many dates. ]

There was a part of me that worried that being with me would make them a target. My reputation proceeds me back home.

[There's a wry grin that touches Rose lips, though she holds herself back from saying 'not as hard as you think'.

His words do make her realize just how lucky she is in having Dean though. Not because he's a Hunter, a Knight or whatever label you want to give him. It's because he accepts her for who she is. She'd died and he hadn't tried to talk her out of going on this mission. He hadn't insisted on coming with her. For all she knew he'd been out of his mind with worry and yet he still accepted her choices. She'd never really considered the fact that in doing so, he was rare.

In just the same way? She hadn't been angry at him for making a deal with Lucifer because she accepted him and his choices as well. Maybe not so much the keeping it from her part, but even that she understood now. They were who they were and she didn't want to change him anymore than she liked to think, he didn't want to change her.]

Okay, first of all? You need to get over that, like now. [She might know a thing or two about somebody worrying they'd make you a target.] In my experience? Trouble will come no matter what but having somebody in your life, it doesn't make you weak or them a target. It makes you both better. It's keeping people at arms length that puts them at risk and there are people out there who understand this life. More than that, there's somebody out there who wants to have that life with you. Not just, because, you're doing the right thing but... because they accept who you are, the good, the bad, the scary and they can't imagine any kind of life without you. Even with all that stuff.

[ He doesn't tell her that the part of him that worried about that has long since given up the fight. Because Steve knows this is life now. Fighting the bad things. Doing what needs to be done. He's accepted it. It's just how he's going to live. People are always going to be in danger knowing him. It doesn't really matter. Still he feels a smile grace his lips as Rose reads him the riot act. ]

You're a romantic. [ In a way. Not the traditional one that most people claim, but in her own way he believes she is. Which just makes him smile more because he's pretty sure that Rose's personality is genetically programmed to knee jerk when the word romantic is used. ] It's a nice look on you.

No I'm not. [Shifting in her seat, sounding borderline defensive as he says that.]

I'm just... [A little flustered now apparently because she's going to take another gulp of her drink, draining the glass.]

Today I have been shot. Stabbed. Surrounded by death and the best part of this whole day is going home to somebody who gets it. I live this life because it's the right thing to do but he's the one who makes it worth living.

[She lifts one shoulder in a shrug, still pretending that she's not a romantic when her words kind of suggest otherwise.]

We all need a reason beyond right and wrong.

[ Steve studies her face for a moment. He's never been of the opinion that age makes you somehow wiser than everyone else in the room. He's almost a hundred and he still makes a lot of mistakes. Age doesn't mean anything. It's just a way to tell the passing of time if you ask him. Though he does worry that maybe Cordelia could be a little confused by it. Given that he's almost a hundred and she's not. ]

Ya know--I think I can second that. I'm definitely looking forward to getting home to see someone. [ He looks so smug because it occurs to him he's not had the chance to talk to Rose about Cordelia. ]

[That she didn't expect, eyebrows raising in mild surprise.]

What... you mean you stopped dating half the Castle and actually picked one? [And there's that smartass grin again.]

Ha. Ha. So funny. For the record I didn't set up any of those dates. That was all Natasha. She thought I needed to get out.

[ He pauses. ]

Apparently she thought I needed to get out with a married couple and a guy. [ Granted the guy thing had been a rouse and Natasha thought it was a woman he was meeting. ] But yeah. There's one I favor significantly.

Yeah. Apparently she was trying to help you make up for that eighty year dry patch. [What do you expect from her Steve? In one month you went on more dates than Rose has probably been on in her whole life.]

And... [Is she going to have to beat a name out of you Steve?]

[ In one month he went from having had a few dates to having way too many. But he did meet some interesting people. Like Tia. Or Nessa. He hasn't really seen much of Nessa since that date. He's still not entirely sure what to make of her. ]

Cordelia. Her name's Cordelia. I actually told her about you on Valentine's Day. She knows about vampires too. Her hometown was on a hellmouth. She dealt with vampires and demons.

[At first all he gets is a blank stare from Rose, that name clearly ringing no bells in her head.]

Who? [Head cocked to one side.] I've never met any Cordelia's in the training room.

[Because yes. Steve. When you say that somebody lived on a 'hellmouth' and has 'dealt with' Vampires & Demons? Rose will think you mean with the pointy end of a stake.]

Honestly, I don't know if she even goes in there.

[ He knows she was involved in the fighting for the castle. She survived. But considering she was unconscious when Dante brought her out it's possible she might need some help. It's never really occurred to Steve that she might not be very good at fighting. ]

She's from some place called Sunnydale in California.

[Rose just, stares blankly still. Like she just can't imagine why somebody wouldn't go to the training room. How else are you supposed to train?!

Never heard of it. [Spike at least has never mentioned the place to her and she and Buffy never talk.] Is she a Squire?

[ Calm down, Rose, maybe she trains outside? Or maybe she just trains in private? He doesn't know. They don't hang out and talk about training. ]

I hadn't either. No. She's apart of Dragon's Tongue. If that helps.

Ohhh. [That mythical group of Knights that Rose knows nothing about because what is Diplomacy?!]

Well it explains why I've never heard of her, yeah. [Rose spends almost all of her time between the training room, the castle grounds... so she can run, and hauled up with Dean.]
