Cordelia and Steve have gotten together to plan a rather fun party to celebrate Sarandis being taken down. Abbie even managed to grab them a rather awesome band to entertain the guests and everything else was hand picked and decided on by Cordy and Steve. It's not as fancy as a squiring after party, but it's just as fun. The ballroom has been "dressed down" a little to match the relaxed atmosphere. Enjoy yourselves!

[ Steve's smile grows when she turns to face him. Happy just to get eyes on her right now. ]

You did amazing. [ He leans in towards her and kisses her cheek. ] You been mingling?

A hostess' work is never done. What about you? I bet everyone wants to hear from the guy who was there.

I dunno. I'm mingling, but I'm not sure they wanna hear my story.

[ What happened at the airfield wasn't his story to tell. He was just a passive viewer sorta. ]

I think they like it better when you tell it.

You're just Mister Modest.

[ He grins and shakes his head. ]

Do you wanna dance with me? I promise not to crush your feet this time. [ His squiring he hadn't been so lucky. ]

I thought you'd never ask.

[ Steve takes her drink from her and puts hers and his own on a table. He reaches out to take her hand and leads her to the dance floor. Apparently Steve has been sneaking in some practice (dance 18). Who with? We'll never know. Maybe Jack. ]

I'll keep an eye on your toes. [ He smiles down at her. ]

[ awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww she got an 18 too, tres romantique ;; ] It doesn't really seem like you need to.

[ It's probably the best dance they're ever gonna get. No one is getting their toes crushed. He feels a little weird about everything from the mission, but here with Cordy he can forget about it. ]

Just in case. I wouldn't want them crushed. [ He smiles at her. ] How many people have you told the duel story to?

I think I lost count after twelve.

Wow. That's a lot of retelling. [ Steve smiles though because he's thoroughly amused by her. ] We should throw more parties together. [ What Rose and him talked about on the plane is still in the back of his mind. The easing into a talk. Sorta. ] You and me.

We totally should! Do you have a birthday coming up? I mean, we might have a hard time with the candles fitting on the cake, but they make those number ones now...

[ Steve laughs, but only because he can't tell if she's joking or if she's actually being serious about the candles thing. Still it's funny. He's not had anyone, but his mother throw him a party. Back then only one person came besides his mom. ]

July fourth. You gonna throw me a party? Never had someone do that before.

[ she just... shoves him on the chest lightly ] Get out! Your birthday is not the fourth of July.

[ Steve is still all grins because not many people believe him. ] That's the day I was born. Promise.

[allaboutme]

I don't know why I'm surprised anymore. How do you even deal with living in England?

[recruited]

I spent time all over the world during the war. I happen to think England's pretty swell.

[allaboutme]

So you never miss it? Baseball, apple pie, all that jazz?

[recruited]

I can still see baseball games sometimes. England has pie too.

[ He grins at Cordelia. ]

England has something better than America. It's got you.

[allaboutme]

[ her grin grows to match his, light dancing in her eyes at the words ] How do you do that?

You always know just what to say.

[ His brows go up for a moment at the question. ]

I dunno. I sorta just speak from the heart? I hope for the best. I don't say things I don't mean.

Well... that says a lot about your heart, Steve Rogers. [ and she pats a hand over it briefly, fingertips lingering there before they slip back around his neck ]

[ He spares a look down at her hand on his chest and then back up at Cordelia. Studying her quietly as they dance. ]

Can I ask you a question?

Technically, you just did. [ kidding... ]

[ The humor sorta helps, but at the same time he's nervous so it makes him more nervous. He swallows the lump in his throat and nods. With a smile though. ]

Do you ever--talk about us to other people? [ He's leading up. ]
