Cordelia and Steve have gotten together to plan a rather fun party to celebrate Sarandis being taken down. Abbie even managed to grab them a rather awesome band to entertain the guests and everything else was hand picked and decided on by Cordy and Steve. It's not as fancy as a squiring after party, but it's just as fun. The ballroom has been "dressed down" a little to match the relaxed atmosphere. Enjoy yourselves!

Metahuman. What is that, like psionic?

[supertardiness]

Kinda. It's more just general powers though.

[He's learning the lingo here, slowly but surely.]

I don't have mental powers just physical ones. I'm really fast. And where I'm from, metahuman powers vary depending on the person and the circumstances with which they became one, so no two metahumans are the same.

[hacker]

Well, yeah, the same can be said of psions. It looks different in everybody: like magic.

[supertardiness]

[He gives a small shrug.]

I guess that's true. I'm still not sure where I fit in everything, and I haven't seen a psion control the weather yet.

[Though it could ... probably be possible?]

[hacker]

That is kind of cosmic magic-level, but hey, it could happen. You never know. I think there's more we don't understand about psionic powers than magic by a long-shot still.

[supertardiness]

Huh.

[He pauses before giving a small shrug.]

Well, they've got me all hooked up to the Hoard computers, so maybe they'll have an answer for where I fit on the spectrum sooner rather than later.

[hacker]

Well, aren't you a patient little lab monkey.

[supertardiness]

It's what I was doing back in Central City. I was basically patient zero for all metahumans, so the people I was working with were always running tests to make sure I was healthy and my body wasn't doing anything weird.

[hacker]

Wouldn't it be more concerning if your body wasn't doing something weird, if you're a metahuman? Sounds like it should be running to the beat of its own drum, if you know what I mean.

[supertardiness]

Well, there's weird and then there's weird. And we don't exactly know the full extent of my weird, like they couldn't predict me developing hypoglycemia or what my maximum speed would be.

[hacker]

Because they don't know what your new baseline is, in other words.

[supertardiness]

Exactly. So by monitoring me, they're helping me figure out if the not-so-normal things I can do now are okay, or a sign of something being wrong.

[hacker]

Do you have someone here who's been able to help measure stuff like that?

[supertardiness]

Not ... exactly, but I've been poking through the people in the Hoard until I find the right fit. I've talked to a guy about working on my suit though.

[hacker]

Tell me it's not Tony.

[supertardiness]

[He perks up a bit because yep, it's totally Tony.]

Oh, you know him?

[hacker]

Not super well, but enough. He's probably thrilled to see your supersuit; he lost his, coming through the Veil.

[supertardiness]

[His eyebrows go up a little higher at that.]

Really? He didn't mention he had one. Well, he talked about working on tech, but I didn't get the impression he was a superhero too.

[hacker]

No kidding. He doesn't exactly radiate heroism.

[supertardiness]

I don't know, they can surprise you sometimes. He's definitely more verbose than some of the other heroes I've met.

[There's a beat.]

He kind of reminds me of a friend of mine, actually.

[hacker]

I wonder if that's what always happens after you come through the Veil. [ She purses her lips in thought, then explains. ] I had the same reaction to Topher. He reminds me of a friend I used to have.

[supertardiness]

Huh.

[He considers for a moment before shrugging.]

Maybe it's our brain looking for the familiar. A way to make us a little less homesick.

[hacker]

[ she nods her agreement. ]

Not replacing what we lost, exactly, but ... making the hole hurt a little less.

[supertardiness]

[He nods and makes a face because he still knows there are things missing. Moments where he's caught thinking about how Cisco would geek out over the lab or hearing Caitlin's voice in the back of his head, scolding him for overexerting himself, but at the end of the day they're not there.

And he tries to find the reprieve where he can.]

Yeah. Just enough familiar to get by. And it helps that I do have a couple friends here from home.

One way or another, most people seem to. I wonder if that's a trick of the Veil and some weird sense of fate, or if it's Wynn, finding people who know each other and recruiting them.
