With five dead members of a gang whose members are composed of entirely non-human Shadowkind, Belgium police are concerned that a gang war is about to break out, with accusations flying towards an anti-Shadow gang in the same inner-city neighborhood in Brussels.  The Knights are sent to get to the bottom of this, and to that end, they've arrived in the city and made their way towards the section of town where the deaths have been occurring...

[ the guy shoves a pack of candy he was eating out of under the register and looks over them.

"Can I help you?" he asks, gruffly ]

[Meanwhile, outside, Ava allows her hand to cover Baal's, offering him what is intended as a warm, reassuring smile as she casts her gaze up and down the street, looking for any signs of trouble and trying to pick up on what is being said, either in the shop or out on the street. [He gives her a small smile of thanks, and then also looks around (Spot 13).]

Actually, we were hoping we could help you. [Bonnie steps forward.] We've heard there's been trouble around here lately. We specialize in stopping trouble. [Diplomacy 33]

What she said. [ the man raises an eyebrow.

"You're talking about the deaths, are you?" he shakes his head. "Rough business. Gangs are getting out of hand." ]

Yeah? Guess you see a lot of that coming in and out of here, right?

[silverguardian]

[ he frowns deeply. "Yeah, but ... never been murders like this since I moved here twenty years ago. Gruesome business." ]

It must be rough. [Bonnie gives him a sympathetic look.] Did you know any of the victims?

[silverguardian]

[ "Personally? Not more than seeing them a few times around the store. There's people out there who try to drive the Shadowkind away from business here. Can't say I approve, but what am I gonna do about it?" ]

[Baal looked in at the group through the window, and then look over at Aveleen]

We could perhaps go into another store. Or take a walk so that we don't look like we're keeping others away from this man's business.

[While not dismissing his words, he'd see a hint of concern reflecting back at him in her bright blue eyes.]

On my very first mission, we encountered a group of anti-shadowkind who were kidnapping people and selling them into slavery. I volunteered myself as - [Searching for the word.] - bait. I was rescued and we were able to stop what they were doing because all members of the team knew what was happening and were able to follow me.

[She offers him a small smile, hoping he understands what she's trying to say.] But I see no problem with moving away a little, just so long as we remain in sight.

[Bubblegum's will save of 23 keeps her from giving him a detailed list of what he could do about it. Not the time, and not a good way to win allies.]

Which people? That sounds like a lead to me.

Is this another gang you're talking about?

[ he nods warily. "They tend to hang out behind that cathedral on Third." ]

Then let us go window shopping and watch the door in the reflections.

[he held out his arm to Aveleen in a gentlemanly way]

The cathedral on Third. [Bonnie gives him a winsome smile.] Thank you for your help, sir. Is there anything else we should know? Besides that I assume they won't be very happy to see us.

[She's aware that anti-shadowkind people are usually not happy to see people who are entirely bright pink.]

[ "Just be careful out there. I think they follow a guy named Franz. Might wanna ask for him." ]

[With a small smile and slight incline of her head, Avaleen gratefully accepts Baal's arm. Using the movement to allow herself a chance to look around the street outside the shop. (Spot 23).]

Have you enjoyed your time with our organisation so far? [Taking the secret side of the Knights, so very srsly.]

Franz. I'll remember. [She nods.] Thank you for your aid. [She glances at her compatriots in case they have anything to add, but she's already turning towards the door.]

[ MEANWHILE OUTSIDE, there are three guys with tattoos, mini mohawks, and bad attitudes written on their face, gathering on the corner across the street, looking their way and looking... ready to make trouble. ]

[Tightening her grip on Baal's arm, Avaleen speaks in a low voice.] I think it best if we return to the others, don't you.

[his eyes were watching the group of three men and nodded]

Yes, I think it would be a good idea.

[silverguardian]

[ one of them shouts something out in the native language, which i...don't think any of them speak?? but it's clearly directed at them, and draws some derisive laughs from the others ]

[Unless they're speaking English or Groot (Treant) then nope. Avaleen will however, pointedly ignore their foreign jeers and not stop at the shop front itself but move to open the door so they can see how the rest of them are fairing.

I guess the rest of the group will hear the jungle jangle of a bell as the door opens. HAI GUYS! For those who look they would see that despite her silence, she looks a little stricken.]

[Bonnie sees them enter since she's already on her way out and blinks.]
