The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[So, Finn shows up in this except that jacket is actually the jacket Poe let him keep because that thing is important to him and he totally had it fixed after he figured out that they could just do that with magic (disguise 11).

At least he cleaned up a little bit. Honestly, he's just be happy to be out of that armor uniform.

He's more fazed by the black tie attire and the food than the different kinds of races walking around, and he's easy to track down hanging out by the snack and drinks or sitting at one of the tables watching the festivities and the dancing.

[Ahsoka as usual hasn't bothered wearing anything different from usual (disguise 10), but she has come to check out the new recruits. She is also more interested in the food, still not quite sure how to act in a world where she isn't forbidden from making attachments. Her two lightsabers are clipped to her belt, still a habit even though she's not exactly in a galaxy-spanning war now, and she picks at the new and different foods.

Finn looks as uncomfortable as she is, so she gives him a smile.]

You were in the latest group of recruits, right? Are you new to this planet as well?

[His spot check was literally garbage so he doesn't even notice the freaking lightsabers she has with her. Good job, Finn.]

Yeah, definitely new. [The corner of his mouth twitches but he doesn't actually manage a smile.] That obvious, huh?

[She shrugs a shoulder.]

It's okay. I haven't been here much longer than you. It's... very different from the last planet I was on. A lot to get used to.

It's very different from any planet I've been on.

[Though most of where he's been has probably been military bases and aircraft, lbr.]

[She nods, quirking her lip into a smirk. She hasn't been on any planet quite like this either, and she's been on a lot of planets. Then again, very few planets are exactly like any others.]

Ahsoka Tano. I've been here for a little over a month.

[ thea, looking like a hot plate of delicious (disguise 23), saunters up to finn with an easy smile. ]

Oh, hey. Uh, thanks. I kinda took it but the guy let me keep it anyway. Not that I stole it, exactly, I just thought he was dead.

[The vast majority of the ladies he's met in his life wear armor, okay. He probably hasn't even seen their faces much.]

Uh, yeah. Sure. [An awkward beat before he gives her the short version.] I was on a ship that crash landed in the Sinking Fields on the planet Jakku. All I managed to get from the wreckage was this jacket before the sand swallowed it up. It belonged to the pilot, who I thought was still inside.

Jakku? [ her eyebrows jump up. ] That's where Rey is from!

[wouldn't you know it, but that jacket has a twin. And it's currently being worn by this guy who is happy and chatting up people while nibbling on a plate of finger food. At his feet is a familiar orange and white droid rolling around him as BB-8 listens into the conversation and offers sassy commentary in beeps and whistles.

When he finally makes his way behind Finn, he notices his rugged good looks and fine taste in jackets.]

Let me guess, you saw it and had to have one of your own?

[Finn is distracted by yet another weird thing about this place, but the sound of Poe's voice sure gets his attention in a hurry. His head practically whips around before his body does the same, his eyes wide.]

Poe!?

[Uh oh, he's coming in for a hug. Surprise?]

Oh man, I can't believe you're here!

[oh hey that's a hug. We have a hugger here. Not that Poe will complain, hugging the man who somehow knew him back because the guy is happy to see him. He could be angry and trying to kill him. No, hugging is much preferred.]

Yeah, I'm here, surprise surprise.

[has no clue who you are. Neither does the orange ball at his feet looking up at them and whistling curiously]

He pulls away a bit, clapping him on the back.]

[ Rey is barely off her mission so she hasn't dressed up or anything but she comes in for the food, and she's pacing the table when she sees him approaching, cannoli stuffed into her cheeks. Her eyes widen and she drops her plate. Mouth full, she shouts— ]

Finn! [ And full out runs for him. ]

[He'd recognize that voice shouting his name anywhere, and hers comes out of his mouth before his brain even registers that he can see her too.]

Rey!

[He plants his feet at least as he sees her barreling towards him, his arms outstretched to catch her.]

[ Her chest thumps hard against his, but she savors the ache in her ribs as her arms circle his shoulders to hold him tight. He's on his feet. He's alive. She'd dreaded her own hope for so long, and worried more still since the moment she set foot in this world that it meant she'd really never be able to keep her promise. But he was here, and solid, and real, and everything she'd hoped for was realized in the simplicity of that fact. ]

[He squeezes back, probably not helping out the whole breathing situation, but he can't help it. After running into Poe only to not even have the man recognize him, he'd been worried that she wouldn't either.

This clearly laid that worry to rest.]

Someone told me you were here and I almost couldn't believe it.

I knew I'd find you again.

[ She breathes the faith out into his shoulder, turning her head against the crook of his neck before she pulled back halfway, as if reluctant to draw her hands back, to break the contact. ]

But I thought I'd have to go looking. How long have you been here?

[ with a 17 disguise, peter is actually having fun putting on some earth fancy-wear over here. but he does appreciate the spacer look that finn is rocking, courtesy of poe, and it draws him over eventually. ] Looking a little lost, amigo.

Feeling a little lost, to be honest. [He looks him over a bit.] I've, uh, never been to anything like this.
