[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of these few months. Because not everyone is into parties, ok. Characters who are not currently squired in may also post, as their characters are living in the castle awaiting their ceremonies.  This takes place after the Knights have returned from rescuing Gar in New York City, but before the planned Keijen Blade concert at the beginning of 2017.

I'll tell the truth. There were plenty of witnesses to corroborate. It isn't as if this world isn't full of insane stories that are true.

And you still have to consider the fact that Audrey Peterson believes she has a case that she might be able to win, Agent Bristow. I'm not entirely sure what angle she's going to play- the doting wife taken in by a madman or something else entirely.

If it were just her speaking out against Mr. St. Andrew, simply playing the victim would be enough. But it's not just about what he did to her, now is it?

I would think very carefully on how you word those facts of yours. If she's serious about this, her lawyers will likely try to pick apart and invalidate anything too ridiculous to trip you all up.

It's a bit hard to give a valid testimony when the entire courtroom thinks you're a lunatic talking about candy monsters. You can count on extreme Shadowkind racism to believe many things, but even with witnesses, not many will stand behind that.

[you see why he's taking this Very Seriously. he shifts in his chair, watching her pace hawkishly.] I sincerely doubted anyone was preparing for the trial with any degree of seriousness, believing the case to be open and shut. I knew better. Audrey Peterson deceived her husband and most of this Knighthood for quite some time. Had I not put a gun to her head that night and told you all that she and St. Andrew were in league, would anyone have really believed her to be anything more than a victim?

[a minuscule twitch at the edge of his jar wavers his composed expression a bit, but without changing his tone, he adds:] I can't imagine it would have been an easy sell.

So what are you suggesting we do? Dance around the truth? It's one of the only weapons we have, and they've already undermined it.

I'd start looking into everything you can to find the chink in her armor. And make absolute certain her husband isn't in this to prove she's innocent.

He's not the first man to be utterly devastated to the point of making irrational decisions due to finding out the woman he married is not who he believed her to be.

[not that Sydney has any idea just how pointed that remark really is, where her own parents are concerned.] If he had any reason to believe she was innocent, I'd think he might cling to it, don't you?

I wonder if anyone's tried to approach him and gauge where he stands. I imagine Wynn has to have considered it. [ she sounds doubtful now tho, thanks sark ]

[he raises an eyebrow, like girl this is your community.] You can certainly guess why I haven't made the attempt myself. As the only person who can testify against her in detail, he might not be all that willing to hear me out.

It's not as if I know him personally very well. But-- [ but someone has to do it ] I suppose it's worth a shot.

More than a shot, I hope. It may be the difference between winning and losing, and I assure you that you do not want a woman like that going back to her husband and finding a way to use his affiliation to this organization to her advantage.

Especially someone with unparalleled access to all our records.

And that, Agent Bristow, could be true chaos. Of a kind even Nicholas St. Andrew was too petty and preoccupied to truly understand. Monsters falling through the Veil and ravaging towns are nothing compared to bureaucratic affairs thrown in disarray.

And I'm starting to grow accustomed to this place. I'd hate to see anything happen to it.

I expect my membership offer will be coming any day now, considering the good work I'm doing for the cause. I'm sure Wynn has offered sanctuary for far less than that.
