[[ Towering above our heroes is the fifteen-story NOVA Record Headquarters, an L-shaped structure tipped with a winged roof, covered in reflective window linings that paint a portrait of the New Orleans skyline across its panels. Foot traffic streams in and out, a parade of Bluetooth wearing suits, women in nine-inch heels, and extravagantly dressed stars surrounded by guards and entourage members.

But the lavish exterior hides a dark secret or two, and the Knights have sworn to shine a light on all of them.

Why is a record company funding a church that supports Shadowkind slavery? What are the 'experiments' for which they're buying up Shadowkind DNA, and how does it relate to the mysterious behavioral-control chip found in the displacer beast released in the museum? And, of course, what do they want with Jade, and what do they know about the Lazarus Talisman's current location?

Answers are rarely straightforward on their journey, and it looks like another complication or two are on the way.... ]

Something was wrong with her. She needed help. What was I supposed to do? [he whispers back, jaw clenched. he (thinks he) knows what she'll say -- it was only a shallow pool, someone would have helped her eventually, blah blah blah. and if it weren't for myri he probably would have agreed and kept walking tbh ... ]

[Elena takes the towel, seemingly momentarily distracted as she pats at her body, starting with her face and arms, then moving to her clothes. In reality though, she can hear every word (aw, yeah, 17), though the only sign of this is the every so slight raise of her eyebrows.

She glances at the nicer brunette apologetically before she clears her throat, her gaze steady and knowing at the other two.

While she doesn't know a lot, it's possible that she knows enough.]

Sorry, is there somewhere you need to be?

[She doesn't sound like she's very sorry. Just serious.]

[WHOOPSIES. he turns to talk to her like he wasn't just arguing with dumage and everything is cool beans.]

I was on my way to shooting a music video, actually.

[ dumage will chime in with a forced smile ] Finnick here is a very big star. [ there's a clearly unspoken WHO DOESN'T HAVE TIME TO WASTE ON NOBODIES in her tone ]

[Well, that's their cover, she's pretty sure. She glances around to make sure no one is nearby before she begins to use the towel to wipe at her face, to hopefully keep anyone from reading her lips if they happen to be watching. She keeps her tone low too, just in case.]

Look, here's the deal. I don't know what the heck is going on, or how I ended up here, but I don't know anyone and I have no where to go. So you can either take me with you, or I can tell everyone that you're a bunch of liars.

[Because it can't entirely be a coincidence that this is where she happened to end up, right? Besides, the one girl is a huge b-word, but the other two seem fine. She could pick worse people. Hopefully.]

I was planning on taking you, regardless. I just invited you, remember? [he shoots a look at dumage like YOU'RE THE ONE WHO MADE THIS DIFFICULT HERE. >:c]

[Myri officially despises Dumage and has no idea how anyone ever thought she could be a Knight. The only thing she's interested in upholding is her own selfish interests. She glares at Dumage, not caring about her empty-headed persona for the moment.

She steps up and reaches for Elena's arm, hoping to diffuse the situation.]

There may be some dry clothes in the other room. [And privacy] We can look together?

[postergirl]

[ dumage turns to finnick again, just raising both eyebrows at him for the look he's giving her ] Blackmail. Splendid. You have exceptional taste in damsels in distress.

[his expression shifts to one of are you fucking serious.] Next time I'll try to rescue someone less conniving. I thought being heroic was part of our job description. Do I need a refresher?

[She flinches a bit at Finnick's words.]

I remember, but your friend seems intent on getting rid of me.

[And she feels bad, and she's really only bluffing, for the most part. It seems to have worked well enough, though. Hopefully.

She glances over at Myri, and gives the girl a grateful smile.]

That would be great. Let's go.

[Because the less time she spent with Dumage, the better.]

[Myri smiles warmly (which is... again out of character, but... damn the man) and guides the girl towards where she last recalls seeing girls coming and going in different outfits. (One can always assume that if a music video is happening, that there is a wardrobe room, right?)

Before they get too far, she turns to look at the pair of teammates she's leaving.]

We'll catch up.

[ dumage watches them go (you two can make a new thread on the main post!) with a blank stare, before looking back at finnick expectantly ]

What? You don't really think she was going to drown in that pool, did you? If she did, I'd be compelled to say she deserved it.

[he crosses his arms.] She wasn't just splashing around in the water. Something was mentally wrong with her. She didn't know where she was, or remember how she got here. Doesn't that sound familiar?

[postergirl]

[ /looks unimpressed ] So she bumped her head when she fell. Happens every day. Does she look like she came to us from the realms of fantasy just now? Or do you have it in your head that she's like you or Spike, some sort of one in a million case? Does that really sound likely?

[ugh fuck this bickering like little girls is one of finnick's least favorite things] All right, let's say you're right. How do you suggest we lose her?

Well, that all depends on what story our little Myri is spinning right now. [ she starts towards the elevator ] She probably wants a taste of stardom, so give it to her. Let her shake her backside in your music video, and she'll probably be satisfied.

Worst case scenario, you'll just have to sleep with her.

[WOW his levels of discomfort have spiked through the roof. that time in his life was supposed to be over ... ;_;

but he'll act like nothing's remotely fazed him and follow behind her.]

Did she strike you as that type? [finnick didn't see it, personally, but that's not to say it couldn't be true. he knew people back home who were extraordinary at playing the weak little damsel game. like johanna.]

Every woman has a bit of that type in her, when the man's as good looking as you are. [ it sounds more like a detached observation than an attempt at flattery. she shrugs and hits the button, and the doors open immediately. ] Who knows, maybe you're right about her amnesia being Mist-lag, in which case, you can keep it in your pants and we can direct her to a shelter for Shadowkind or ship her off to England to enlist.

We can tag each other here until we meet up with them again?

[Elena sticks close to Myri; while her outward presence has been strong and determined, inside she's something of a mess. She still can't remember anything, but she's pretty sure she didn't hit her head. Any time she tries to think, faces dance in her memory, and she can almost recall a few names, but there's nothing other than that.

She knows her name, her birthday, and that's about it. They're the only things she's sure about, other than the fact that she was not drowning in a pool moments before she, well, was.]

[She says the word quietly once they're out of earshot.]

[There's still plenty of people around, so Myri has to be careful what she says. But that doesn't mean she can't do a little information gathering.]

I'm M- ... Mary.

[When you have a weird name, it isn't very smart to give it out. She sort of screwed that up with Rafael, so she's trying to be smarter about it this time.]

[She wonders if that's her real name or if that's what she's using for her 'cover.' Either way, she's not going to give her a hard time.]

I'm Elena. [She feels bad about what happened back there, and it shows.] I didn't mean to cause trouble. I guess I'm just a little freaked out.

[She hopes that's enough of an apology without getting too specific.]

Elena. That's a beautiful name. [She shakes her head.] Don't pay attention to the others. You aren't causing any trouble.

[Myri has the benefit of her gift making her aware that the girl truly was in danger. But she can't exactly divulge that information.]

Do you... do you remember anything? About you how you ended up in the water?

[She gives her another grateful smile. Without her, Elena would not be taking things nearly as well. The girl is truly kind, and it has a calming effect on her.]

I...I'm not sure. I think I was in my friend's truck, and we swerved and...drove off the road and into the water.

[At each pause she seems to be concentrating, her eyes narrowing as if it hurts her head to think.]

I'm trying to picture it, but it's almost as if it's slipping away, like when you wake up from a bad dream.

[witchwoman]

[It sounds a great deal like the way the others all forgot. Myri has the good fortune to remember most of her life (and not know about the parts she's missing...)]

But there's no car... And no road...

[She doesn't want to poke giant holes in the girl's story, so she's just going to gently point out the inconsistencies to see if it changes the tune at all.]
