The Knights split up, Tia taking Rose, Dimitri, and Amrita in the rented vehicle towards two of the more distant sites from the hotel, while Eric leads Aurelius and Lila through the back alleys of the city to somewhere nearby. It's late by now, and Chicago is alive with the sights and sounds of nighttime in the distance. A light rain falls, dripping off the overhangs of the roofs above and pooling against the sidewalks.

[ Seriously Rose she thinks of you as a friend now, you better not let her down by getting yourself dead.

Because if you do she'll... clone you or something and then kill you again. ]

I hope that goes without saying.

[Dimitri is always careful. He moves to the door, preparing to exit, saying one more thing over his shoulder.]

You two, as well.

[And then there's a quick glance out the window before opens the door and leaves the car, knowing that Rose will be flanking him shortly.]

[As the car slowed to a stop Rose didn't waste any time in getting out,bouncing on the balls of her feet as she turned back to the car, hanging her head through the window.]

Always. [Tone confident as she winked at Amrita.] I'm with a six foot seven wall of muscle. I'll be fine.

[She'd in many ways feel better if they were all together but this made more sense.]

You too alright. [Giving the door a pat as if to say she was off before she straightened and moved to fall into step with Dimitri.]

I'm not gonna lie to you, Tia, I'm pretty damn nervous.

[ First mission jitters, can you blame her? ]

That's perfectly normal. But I promise you: I won't let anything happen to you.

[ She laughs a little. ]

You know, I actually believe you. So what's next?

Crime scene investigation. Ever done anything like it before?

Can't say my education covered that, no.

[telekinect]

Ever watch any of those CSI tv shows?

Occasionally, but I always assumed that it's not actually like that.

[telekinection]

You're not wrong. But you can use it as a jumping off point.

Well, I've been doing my best to read up on... well, anything I could get my hands on that seemed useful. I hope I can be useful.

[ She would hate to be a dead weight. ]

[telekinection]

[ as they round their way into a back alley, tia pushes up on the lever of a steel door and finds it locked. she rolls her eyes and steps back, raising one hand, palm up, at the door. the bar starts to rattle, and then abruptly shoots up, the door creaking open. ]

Just keep your eyes peeled.

It's like taking a stroll with a bloody superhero...

[ Muttered as she stands back and waits for Tia to take the lead. ]

[There's a flick of his eyes towards Rose and the twitch of a smile at the corner of his mouth at that statement before he's in Guardian mode again, waiting until Rose falls into step with him before he nods toward the car and turns to head into the alley.

Time to locate this crime scene, and see what they can make of it.]

[ it's dimitri who would find the distinctive blood smears on the ground from where the body was removed - the pools of spilled liquid not reminiscent of a strigoi victim, to be honest. he'd also find a strange symbol painted in dried blood on the wall - the wall of what rose would know to be the hunter bar she'd visited in her time her.

rose would be the one to notice the figure lounging outside ... ]

[Adrian is smoking, leaning against the wall casually. He looks up at the two as they approach and grins.]

Little Dhampir. [His gaze turns to Dimitri, who he looks up and down before raising an eyebrow.] You found a big Dhampir.

[littledhampir]

[It wasn't the person so much as it was the sickly sweet smoke that first caught Rose's attention, her nose wrinkling as she tore her gaze away from what Dimitri had found, knowing, just knowing who this was going to be before he even spoke.]

And you found trouble. Why am I not surprised... Dimitri, this is Adrian. Adrian, was just leaving. [A beat.] Unless you wanna be another bloodstain on the ground?

[Not actually meant as a threat... though it did sound a hell of a lot like one.]

[Dimitri noted the scene of the crime. There'd been too much blood spilled upon the ground for it to have been attack by what he was used to, and he mentally stored away the symbol to share with the others later.

His attention shifted as he heard a voice down the alley, and it appeared that it was someone Rose recognized. Maybe from her time in Chicago before they met in London? He stood straight, and took a few steps toward him, then paused in confusion.]

Rose, he's a Moroi.

[Despite not remembering any of them, he still somehow instinctively knew what one would look like.]

Big and observant. [Adrian takes another drag on his clove cigarette and blows it at the two of them.] The only Moroi in Chicago, as far as I can tell.

[He glances over at Rose and smirks, clearly... not leaving.]

[Rose waves her hand around, trying to fan the smoke back in his direction, all but scowling at the face full that she just got.]

Oh I know. [Flashing a smile at Adrian that doesn't come close to meeting her eyes.] Adrian I have... crossed paths before now. Several times in fact. He has a knack for showing up when things are about to get messy then disappearing before I have a chance to catch up with him.
