This isn't exactly a squiring after party. Lila's never been to a knighting (and the odds are not in her favor) but she doubts this party is much like it either. The invitation comes in the form of a mass text message sent the day before -- she doesn't care who gets it, its not as if Wynn is going to come to her party. A date, a time, a location, and the rules. She doesn't give a reason.

The rules are simple: dress up classy, don't bring a gift, and wear a mask. It's a masquerade, after all, a mask is a prerequisite. Lila is even so kind as to provide them, a porcelain bowl perched on a chair by the door holds an array; running the gamut from Phantom of the Opera white to classic Venetian blue and gold to Dia de los Muertos red and black. Anyone without a mask is subject to Lila's wrath.

The room is entirely lit by tea lights floating in small glass bowls, leaving long shadows across the walls, and strings of red fairy lights draped across doorways and windows. Music is playing somewhere, loud and dark, forcing you to press up against the person you're talking to. A table shoved against the wall is covered with bottles of fancy champagne, wine, expensive vodka and, the odd man out, pink lemonade. She and Faye might have gone a tad overboard with the alcohol. Blue plastic cups sit in a tottering pile off to the side, a jumble of colorful paper umbrellas dotting the free space on the desk. Another table holds a towering monstrosity of nibbles -- chocolates and tiny cream puffs, miniature Madeline cookies and delicate eclairs. Nothing to fill up on if you're worried about drinking on an empty stomach. Not her problem, she is obviously catering to the younger crowd here. Namely herself.

Lila is around, face half hidden by a simple lacy black mask. Her one blue eye and one green eye would be a dead giveaway if her scar didn't already make it perfectly clear who is behind the mask. She's not playing hostess, she had enough of that back home being Daddy's little darling. This is the first birthday party she has had in almost four years, but even determined to make the most of her experience, she remains at the fringes, drink in hand. The combination of pink lemonade and vodka makes her nostalgic.

Don't worry though, she has her gloves on.

Got it. See you there. [he includes the address of the closest one he could find on his phone, which is approximately 30 minutes out from the airport.]

[ being the smart girl that she is, lila gets a cab because she has had way too much to drink to manage driving. actually, first she brushes her teeth and fixes her eyeliner, and then she calls for a cab, so it takes her about 45 minutes to get there. she doesn't change, at least, so she shows up still in her dress with her pretty lace gloves and her mask shoved into her curls like a headband. she also wins seven consecutive rounds of draw something, so she's pretty pleased with her slightly inebriated self. ]

I'm here. [ la de da, tipping the cab driver... ]

[ when he gets her text, he rushes outside to greet her at the door, and give her one of those couples reuniting at the airport hugs (even tho he's not at the airport anymore shhh THOUGHT THAT COUNTS.) she would be hard to miss regardless, but looking fly as hell like she is whittles it down to an impossibility. on his end, you would think spending all day flying and waiting in airports would have left him lookin' rough, but nope. still hot. (disguise 18) ]

Hi! [ she is a-okay with hugs if the force with which she flings her arms around his neck is any indication. mmm, he's so handsome and good smelling like chocolate and hers. ugh, perfect birthday present, she can't even word because she's full of tipsy, giddy excitement and butterflies.

[ so precious. he pulls her inside and over to his table, where you can see he got wings. so he could share with her. even though he hates sharing food s-so much but it's her birthday and he's a good boyfriend thing sometimes. her birthday box of chocolate is on the table, too.] I saved some for you, just in case.

[bittersweeter]

Do you mean the chocolates or the chicken? [ she's teasing, dropping down in her chair with all the grace of honey boo boo and snatching his water glass instead. mmm water, yum. she smiles around the rim of the glass, leaving a stain from her lipgloss. ]

[watchmaker]

Both, actually. But I didn't touch the chocolate. [he doesn't even mind okay. because he just missed her that much. and also it's her birthday. he takes his seat in the chair across from her.] I'm sorry I missed your party.

[bittersweeter]

[ still drinking, she waves a hand dismissively. ] It's fine, you only missed Dimitri and I doing shots and... no, that was pretty much it. It was kind of boring, I don't think I'm social enough for parties. Oh, and I might have convinced Faye that you're royalty. She was the one texting you earlier, not me.

[watchmaker]

[he frowns like "what" and automatically pulls out his phone to relive his conversation with faye.] I should have known, I thought the thing about the jet was weird.

[bittersweeter]

Passing you off as a prince is actually pretty easy. I mean, I didn't get to tell her I stabbed you, but. [ she shrugs cheerfully, pulling the plate of chicken towards her and putting his, now 3/4s empty glass back. ] That beautiful story can wait I guess.

[watchmaker]

[he puts his phone back in his pocket and leans back in his seat, contemplative.] Could you trust her with that sort of thing, though? I mean ... I don't exactly advertise it. The part where I get better.

[bittersweeter]

No, why do you think I didn't tell her? [ don't worry boo, she's got your back. and will have for months beyond this... anyway om nom nom chicken. ] I don't trust anybody.

[watchmaker]

[he ate his fill while waiting for her, so he's ok with relinquishing the rest of the chicken.] I was just asking. How was I supposed to know?

[bittersweeter]

[ good because she's busy being a pig over here. but she's chewing like a lady so it's all good, she's just very hungry after copious amounts of vodka tempered with surprisingly little pink lemonade. ] Mind reading isn't your super power? Just the split second healing?

[watchmaker]

Yeah, and the moving things with my mind. Can't have it all, I guess. [OR CAN YOU THO??????]

[bittersweeter]

I'm sure you could try, you're really smart. So where are you staying?

[watchmaker]

I don't know, I didn't book a place. Wherever's nearby. Unless ... [there's an unspoken "what about ur place????" there.]

[bittersweeter]

Yeeeeah, I already booked a hotel. Just in case. [ such a grin, she has no shame. ] I mean you still owe me a birthday present, chocolate not withstanding.

[watchmaker]

Well aren't you something. [he's a-ok with this turn of events, grinning back.] What, you mean I'm not enough of a present for you?

[bittersweeter]

Oh no, you're perfect. I just don't want to get arrested on my birthday for indecent exposure for jumping you in a Nandos.

[watchmaker]

We should probably leave soon, anyway, I think they're trying to close. [as in they were supposed to close forever ago but sylar had to come in and be That Customer. the staff is probably praising jesus at the sound that they might be gtfo-ing tbh.]

There is one piece left, geez. They'll survive, I leave exorbitant tips. [ yeah lila doesn't care. whoops! ]
