[Hook's pretty much abandoned his room at the castle now that his home is put back together. He's at the Jolly Roger nearly every day, cleaning, doing minor repairs, or sailing her around just for fun.

If asked nicely, he might give a tour.]

[ sometimes lila is more cat than person and very much so when it comes to giant bodies of water. n o p e.

but here she is, stuck on a boat for what could have been a three hour flight because she works with a bunch of astounding idiots. not only that but she is basically the fifth wheel on a horrifyingly awkward double date because gold's fawning is gross and hook wants to get in emma's pants so hard and maybe she's not actually sea sick, maybe she is just grossed out...

in any case, she is above decks because fresh air (even thought its freezing) and she's either smoking or on her phone reading or lazily tying a noose because its the only knot she's good at (dex 15) and there is a lot of rope on a ship it turns out. maybe she is doing all three, we just don't know. ]

[Hook catches her smoking as he's wandering around the ship doing various captainy things and frowns.]

Not so near the sails. The last thing we want's a fire.

[The sails are tough and as resistant to flame as he could make them, especially to one as little as her cigarette, but he has no interest in tempting fate.

Also, wow, stop bitching, his is a magic ship that moves at super fast speeds. It makes motorboats jealous.]

[ she takes an exaggerated step back and raises her eyebrows like "happy now?" ]

Why are you here? Gold and Emma makes sense. Even Belle makes sense. [ she is a nice human being. ] But you. Not really any reason for you to have decided to go on this trip. [ because they could have flown. ]

[It's not really much better, but he doesn't comment. For now.

Her question surprises him, mostly because he's never been subtle about his feelings for Emma. It didn't really occur to him that Lila might not know. But he doesn't really want to say it, either.]

David's a friend of mine. So's Emma. [Sort of. When she can stand him.] I'm helping out. [A beat.] Why are you here? You make no more sense than I do.

[ her lip curls instinctively at david's name. she knows, intellectually, that he can't help that someone is cursed to love him, but she can't disconnect him from cassel anymore and just kind of wants to preemptively kick him in the nuts. but he's emma's dad and emma assured her that he'd keep it in his pants, so she's refrained from imparting some violent wisdom on him.

she switches the hand her cigarette is in, so his delicate sails should be fine, and holds up a finger. ]

One, I make so much sense it's traumatizing on a basic emotional level and two. [ another finger goes up and she twists her hand a little like she's flipping him off, english style. ] I can talk my way into anything.

And yet, you've managed not to actually explain anything.

[He raises his eyebrow. He's not actually even from the same universe as England, so he... doesn't even notice her fake flipping off.]

[ emma hasn't been chatty. she's actually, seemingly, been avoiding her companions. considering they're all aboard this ship to assist her in an effort to help bring her father back, it hardly seems grateful. but she's lost in her own thoughts, so she wanders her way downstairs instead of lingering on the deck.

she's pacing in a cabin, mostly because she has reservations about if she thinks this apple will actually work, even if they do get their hands on it. getting her hopes up seems futile until they know more than they do. if she keeps her expectations low, she won't be disappointed. how's that for a life lesson? ]

[Hey that's Hook's cabin. And he really isn't following her this time. He was going to fetch a map. How does he have modern nautical maps of the real world? No one will ever know. But he does, and he's going to get it.

Except then he sees Emma and pauses, looking surprised.]

And here I thought it would take a bit more effort to get you to visit my cabin. Can I help you with something, lass?

[uncurse]

[ there's surprise in her face when she first glances over at him as he enters, but she quickly schools her expression to something more neutral and shakes her head. ] Believe me, this is not a social call. [ she moves a hand away from her pockets to gesture around the cabin a bit. ] I was just taking a look around. I didn't mean to - [ she shrugs a shoulder apologetically, but leaves it at that. ]

[He sweeps his hand out with a light smile.]

Look away. You're welcome here. Though it's not, perhaps, the most interesting part of my ship.

Yeah, well, I'm not here for interesting. [ she fixes him with a flat look, growing despondent rather than wryly critical only as she turns away from him. she's here for david. ]

Suppose you got enough of that in France, then? [There's a slightly... jealous edge to his tone.]

[ considering emma is the only one on this boat she gives much of a hoot about... she can't hide from lila. she gives her some space, but, well deal with it, this is what happens when you adopt a tiny human. so. LILA FINDS HER SOMEWHERE. ]

[ emma returns the greeting with some mild surprise. she'd escaped hook's cabin and headed downstairs before lila had cornered her effectively. she leans against one of the cabin walls. ] How are you feeling?

[ she shrugs. ] I don't think I'm a huge fan of sailing. [ is that what emma meant? who knows, it's how lila is choosing to take it. ]

Here. [ she moves to where she's dropped her bag and digs a water bottle out of it, holding it out for lila. ] Should help with the nausea some.

[Gold vastly prefers this to the plane, lemme tell you, even if he's still not 100% sold on Hook or his damned ship. In the meantime, Milah is here, looking freakin' miserable with a blanket thrown over her. She might be below deck, but this is not good crocodile weather, and she is DISPLEASED. Gold, in the meantime, is keeping her company and wishing they could hurry the hell up and get to Scotland.]

[ lila, again, ignores gold to talk to milah, because she just likes the crocodile a lot. which is funny because she has a faux-alligator wallet. oops? w/e she knows the difference. and now that she's inside instead of braving the elements outside, she wraps her scarf around milah's neck. ]

So how'd you find out about the apple?

[ okay, guess she is talking to gold, rocking back on her heels to look at him. ]

[Well, the scarf doesn't help much, but at least Milah is now cold and fashionable about and she likes Lila enough, so she responds by rusting her snout on her foot.

Gold, meanwhile, is hardly offended.]

I have a few contacts outside the castle. People with traffic in difficult to find items. I was a pawnbroker before I crossed the veil- old habits are difficult to shake.

Criminals. That's who your contacts are, I mean. [ she shrugs like no biggie. ]

[Rude, Lila. Some of them are just really shady.] Let's just say there are people out there Wynn would rather his knights didn't associate with on the clock.

[Hook hates having both of them on his ship tbh. But it's really hard to complain about Gold coming considering it's his stupid plan and his stupid goblins. So instead he just bitches about what's slightly more acceptable to bitch about.]

That creature better not scratch up my ship.

[Oh my God, Hook, really? REALLY? Gold resists the urge to roll his eyes, but doesn't look up from consoling his cold familiar.]

We have far greater concerns than the finish on your ship, Captain.

None that can be taken care of now.

Besides, it's not like crocodiles are known for their spelunking abilities. Why'd you even bring it?
