The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[Thoster's efforts are most certainly centered more around the female guests tonight, but that doesn't mean that he'll ignore the new squire! He heads on over and taps his own glass to the young lad's.]

Welcome to the crew. Name's Thoster. And you're Jordan? [He attended the ceremony. Something about them just helps him with inspiration for his songs.]

Thank you! [He smiles, clinking his glass against Thosters' in return.] That's right, Jordan Reeves. It's good to meet you, Thoster. Having a good time?

I always have a good time. No better way to live, I say. And what of you? What's your thoughts on us so far?

[He takes another sip of the champagne, draining his cup. He keeps hold of it however.] So far so good! I mean, everyone has been very kind and helpful. Got any pointers for me?

[He brings the cup up to take another drink, frowning as he finds it empty. After a moment he swirls the cup and Thoster might notice a dark red liquid circling where there had been nothing moments before.]

Oh I'm sure I could- [He starts to speak but stops abruptly at the sight of the liquid.]

Now hold on. How'd you do that?

[With a spot check of 13 or higher Thoster would catch a glimpse of silver wrapped around Jordan's wrist, which he tries to cover quickly by pulling the sleeve of his shirt over it again. A closer look would show the silver not so much wrapped around his wrist as embedded into the skin of his wrist.]

O-oh the wine? I-it's nothing really, just a trick my Father taught me... [Yeah, that semi-normal guy you had been talking to a moment before? Just totally turned into a pile of nervous stammering and glancing around the room.]

[An atrocious spot of 7 sure won't see any of that. He's way more focused on the wine.]

Your father, hm? Some sort of magic user? And you followed in his footsteps?

No![the outburst is short, and seems to take him by surprise. he works his mouth a moment, clearing his throat before he continues]

I-I mean, no not exactly. I...it's just one of the things that come with being what we are.

[Thoster blinks.]

And what are you, then?

[wishuponadjinn]

[he rubs the back of his neck, discomfort oozing off of him but he answers the question.] Uh, I'm a Djinn actually.

[Iiii can't remember if Fiona actually told him what she was, so I rolled a bardic knowledge roll to see what he knows about those and GOT A NAT 20. So apparently Thoster knows some shit. He's really stoked about this right now.]

No... Really?

[wishuponadjinn]

Yeah, I'm afraid so. It's not all so glamorous as it's cracked up to be [ he says as he gestures to himself with a wry look. ]

No? Do tell. [He's a bard. He likes stories. Please elaborate.]

Well, what do you want to know? I was going to say we don't wear puffy pants, live in bottles and have phenomenal cosmic power [he's watched that movie too many times] but that would be a lie, kinda.

About a few of those things, at least.

I am curious about those powers, truthfully. Only heard stories about them.

Well, they have their limits, just as with everything else. You cannot wish for more wishes, to have someone die, or for someone to love you. And they are tricky. They are meant to twist the wish that is made, so that if it is not stated clearly enough the result may not be what you had intended. [ yeah, it's all good Jordan, just give all your secrets away. No harm can come from this. ]

Well, how should one phrase it then? [Please teach him how to make a wish so that he can make one.]

he gives a small laugh, hand coming up to the back of his neck, exposing the silver band encircling his wrist once more.]

The only thing I can tell you is to be careful what you wish for. [because no matter what he says, even if he wanted to encourage someone to wish for something, it would still go different than what was hoped for. it happened all the time, nothing would change that. and he didn't want to encourage it. it was uncomfortable for him, an involuntary reflex he had to try to squash when even just the word was spoken in his vicinity, something that had taken him years to learn to control.]

It's tempting, you know? [And it's obvious that he's thinking about it, because wow that will save was shit.]

What's the worst outcome you've seen?

[wishuponadjinn]

The worst? [he exhales a breath, scratching his head thoughtfully.] Well, an airplane full of people was once turned to pure gold on the whim of a spoiled brat who wanted a pretty trinket to play with. My father was forced to intervene with that one, something that angers him even to this day.

Luckily for her, my father has a soft spot in her heart for the brat and she was spared from any punishment but for a slap on her wrist.

Well, that does sound rather bad. But I more meant someone wishing for something and the words getting twisted in a way they didn't mean. I doubt that brat of yours much cared what happened to those people
