after-party ♔

Jeux d'eau - Ravel

WHO || Wynn, any and all Knights not currently on missions (if you are uncertain if your character would be at the castle for this, ask!)
WHAT || Squiring Ceremony Afterparty
WHERE || Knights Headquarters, the Ballroom
WHEN || March 12th, 2013, 6:00PM [backdated]
HOW || Prose OR Actionspam

The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[ she notices thoster's non-verbal indications and realizes maybe they should use a bit more discretion around people they know, but she assumed it wouldn't be a secret from thoster, at least not for very long. besides, she's in much too good of a mood to really care about all that right now, and she gives a lighthearted chuckle at thoster's response. ] Oh, that's one of the many things I've learned about you.

Staying out of trouble, at least?

More or less. They let me take my ship out for a mission. I've learned to behave enough to keep a privilege such as that firmly on the table.

Battling brigands, was it? Those do tend to be so regrettably scarce, in this day and age.

[ she looks fairly impressed, but that may be a lingering result of his nat 20 charisma check ] I assume if it involved your ship there's a good chance you're referring to pirates? Well, besides yourself, of course.

The lady is correct, as always. [another devilish smile for her too. He can't himself tonight.]

Stopped a slave trade, or at least a shipment. No telling if they're done for good. Bastards like that rarely stop after one kink in the knot.

Nasty sounding business, that. Private enterprise or something more sinister?

[personal profile] socialgraces 2014-03-18 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
[ francesca looks mildly horrified at the concept, herself ] Yes, and what happened to their ship? To the slaves on board?
bluffcheck: (smooth | let's do business)

Don't worry- All innocent lives were saved and found sanctuary. Refugees from Slovechnia, trying to get out and make a fresh start. But they're transport was intercepted. [He leans in and drops his voice because 1.) he doesn't want this getting around, in case he's not meant to spread it, and 2.) to be really really really dramatic.] They were being taken to Andres.

[ val'drin exchanges a Significant Look with francesca. for... several reasons. ] Indeed?

[personal profile] socialgraces 2014-03-21 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
[ yeah, she went from looking mildly horrified, to completely horrified, curious to know more, but not sure where to even start ] That seems a most atrocious alliance, although, I shouldn't be so surprised. Slovechnia is infamous for their slavery of Shadowkind, as you well know, but I can't say I've heard of them selling these slaves to other countries before.

It's not quite as simple as that. They were trying to escape, but were duped and captured to be taken under new masters. If the two countries were in the business of trading, they wouldn't need to go through such means, I don't think.

[personal profile] valdrin 2014-03-22 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
I thought the Slovechnian slaves were being routed out of the country under our banners.

Thomas said as much, yeah. But it seems a rat slipped among the ranks. The crew we found were disposed of, but... [He doesn't want to SAY it, but there could be others.]
socialgraces: (pic#2515383)

[personal profile] socialgraces 2014-03-24 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
So the crew you encountered were working directly for the Andresian government? [ she cringes, visibly uncomfortable with all this. the knights' slovechnian affairs hit close to home. ] Did Thomas mention any other course of action we might be taking in the future, if other occurrences such as these continue to pop up? [ she definitely seems like she'd like to be on board for that. ]
valdrin: (pic#2508503)

[personal profile] valdrin 2014-03-24 07:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm certain anything like that would be considered rather confidential considering the nature of the Andres problem. [ a frown ] That's what Jack and Thomas have been off dealing with for a year now, haven't they?
bluffcheck: (profile | i'm smarter than you)

[personal profile] bluffcheck 2014-03-28 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
Aye, right on both counts, far as I can tell. I doubt Wynn would have sent the group he did if he had any notion of what we'd find.
socialgraces: (pic#2515393)

[personal profile] socialgraces 2014-03-29 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
Under what pretense did he originally send you, then? You lot seem to have handled it well.
valdrin: (pic#2488520)

[personal profile] valdrin 2014-03-29 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
Or was it Wynn's idea of breaking you all in?
bluffcheck: (pic#3133522)

[personal profile] bluffcheck 2014-04-03 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
All they seemed to know was that there was more boats coming in and out. Wanted us to see what it was all about. Got a bit more than we bargained for, but that seems to be the norm around here, more often than not.
socialgraces: (pic#2451116)

[personal profile] socialgraces 2014-04-10 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
It does, yes. At least to a certain extent. [ because some people are more in "the know" than others around here ]
valdrin: (pic#6607536)

[personal profile] valdrin 2014-04-11 03:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, all's well that ends well then, I suppose.
bluffcheck: (pic#3133553)

[personal profile] bluffcheck 2014-04-13 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think much has ended at all, between the three of us. But perhaps that's not good party conversation.

[personal profile] socialgraces 2014-04-16 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
Perhaps it's not. [ but she's obviously still considering his words heavily, her words sounding distant and distracted ]
