The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

Guilty as charged [He feigns throwing his hands up, and smiles disarmingly.] ...and you are Jordan Reeves.

[He extends his fabricated hand for a shake.]

[Jordan grips his hand in a firm shake, his own grin forming.] Yeah, that's right. So, this is a pretty nice party huh?

You think so? I prefer festivities with a bit more action... Maybe fencing, or a sport, or something. The food looks very appetizing, though.

That sounds a lot like a party of the kind my Father would host...[He shrugs uncomfortably, scanning the crowd quickly.]

The food is definitely worth a try though!

I suppose I'm just not used to relaxing... [Indeed, he looks more and more uncomfortable the more relaxed he gets.]

I've spent the last century or so wandering the surface more or less alone, so this is a welcome change of pace. How about yourself? What did you do before joining the knights?

Oh, me? I uh... I pretty much stayed at my Fathers home. I'd never really had cause to leave before... [He seems s-so nervous all of a sudden.]

You speak of your father that way I have only ever heard a Drow speak of their mother. [He winks, and assumes Jordan gets the cultural joke.]
I do not know the circumstances, but remember this; we have no choice in who we are bound to by blood, but we are the ones who choose our own destiny - not our kinsmen.

[with a 17 wisdom check jordan gets the cultural reference, grimacing a bit at the comparison. but he takes in the other man's words, nodding at the end of them.]

[Nels shrugs] Everyone's journey moves at a different pace. I myself spent about two centuries doing little of consequence before coming to the knights, and nearly as many on the other side before coming to this world.
