The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

Not...entirely, no Sir. [He shifts on his feet, looking around the room before glancing back to Wynn.] You see, Sir, my father is an extremely powerful magic user and... and he will do anything in his vast amounts of power to find not only me but my sister as well. Including scrying the whole of this entire world to find us, or using any other means necessary.

[The longer he talks, the more paranoid he seems to become, eyes flicking to the doorways.]

Your sister. [ a beat, his eyes searching the room. ] Sir Tollins, I presume.

Fiona, yes. She...is very vulnerable right now Sir, and she doesn't know it. I need to make sure that every precaution possible is taken to ensure her safety and protection from my father.

[He pauses a beat, realizing how rude that could have sounded, mouth working silently for a moment.]

N-not that I'm saying the castle isn't well protected or that it isn't...safe here. I just want to be sure of her being...undetectable.

[wynn]

You need not worry. Our mages cast anti-scrying spells on the castle and its grounds every morning, for just such a purpose. Many of our members have earned enemies in their lives and careers.

[wishuponadjinn]

[Relief crosses his features, a small smile coming back to his face.]Oh good, that's good to know.

[He takes a sip of his drink as he looks out across the crowd, a much more relaxed air about him now.

After a moment he looks back to Wynn, eyes bright with curiosity.] Sir, will I be able to help with the anti-scrying spells once I am Knighted?

All members of the Dragon's Fire are encouraged to do so. Although even if you do not choose that sect, they may accept your assistance.

I would relish the opportunity to assist the Dragon's Fire, even if I do not become a part of their sect. Thank you, Sir.

I just figure I know a bit more on how to cloak this place from my Father's view than anyone else. [Obsessive much, Jordan?]

You seem very certain he'll come looking for you. How far do you believe he'd be willing to go?

As far as he needs to, Sir. And it's not so much myself he would come seeking, not as of yet. It is Fiona that I am more concerned with him finding.

[wynn]

What do you believe he would do?

[he looks down, touching the silver embedded into his wrists as he contemplates how to answer the question simply.]

Sir, you have to understand that my Father has extremely powerful illusionary magic, that once believed he has the ability to turn into reality. Being who and what he is, and knowing his arrogance, I believe that he will focus all of his energy on finding Fiona and myself, taking whatever measures necessary to succeed.

That is when things will begin to happen, strange occurrences, small instances of mistaken identities, things of that nature. He will lure anyone and everyone he can who he thinks has a connection to Fiona, and perhaps even myself, into a situation of his making. And from there he will spring his trap.

[wynn]

[ he nods, brow furrowing as he watches the smiling girl across the room. ] It would seem wisest for both of you to remain within these walls.

[wishuponadjinn]

I couldn't agree more sir, at least until I can figure out a way to keep Father from discovering where she is.

[a look of relief comes over his features, glad that Wynn has his back with this.]

Should he find her... what are his plans for the girl?

[wishuponadjinn]

Unfortunately that is something I am not privy to, Sir, though I can take a few educated guesses as to what he would do with her.

Mostly to use her potential power for his own gain.

[wynn]

At the expense of her life - or her freedom?

[wishuponadjinn]

It all depends on how far he is pushed, or how long he is resisted. I don't believe he would kill her on purpose, Sir. But my Father is a man of impulsive decisions and actions, so nothing is certain when it comes to him.

[wynn]

I see.

I'll keep a close eye on Sir Tollins, then. And will appreciate your assistance in encouraging her to stay close, for now.
