The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

Of course. [ he offers a polite nod. ] Something you're comfortable discussing here, or...?

I. I would prefer privacy, if that's alright. [ she doesn't know if wynn... y'know, leaves, during these parties. ] It can wait, if you're busy.

Not at all. After you.

[ with a nod, and some apprehension, she does lead the way out into the hall because, while it's not private by any means, it's the only place she could think of that isn't the ballroom. she stops just outside the doors and twists her fingers together nervously, but doesn't actually... say anything. ]

[wynn]

[ he comes to stand several respectful paces away, waiting for the doors to close behind them, before turning to her with that implacable calm. he doesn't say anything either. ]

I was wondering. [ she starts and stops, second guessing herself, although really by now its more like forty-seventh guessing herself. she takes a deep breath and tries again. ] I was wondering if there were any way to... reassign me. To a different branch. While the bond between Rose and I is still intact.

[ because she wants it to be clear its no other reason, especially not anastacia. she doesn't much want to leave her mentor, but neither did she want anastacia or max to try to talk her out of leaving. ]

[wynn]

[ wynn's expression stays neutral, not betraying even a hint of disappointment or concern. ] You have found it difficult to know that she is here, given the state of things between you?

[lastdragomir]

Yes. [ her nails dig into her fingers and she abruptly pulls them apart. ] What I can do, it hurts her. But I can't not do it. I need to be apart from her.

[wynn]

Does distance have an effect, on the bond you share?

[lastdragomir]

I'm not sure.

[wynn]

And if it does not?

[lastdragomir]

She'll still be happier. [ a beat. ] And so will I. [ as if out of sight, out of mind would really work. ]

[wynn]

I won't deny your request, if it what you truly desire, however... If I may offer some counsel, I think perhaps you'll find that until you work together more closely - in the field, perhaps - you will continue to struggle to reconcile this bond.

[lastdragomir]

[ she nods, obviously listening carefully. she takes a moment to think before she answers. rose doesn't want to work closely with lissa, they can barely speak to one another and while lissa wants nothing more than to have her friend back, she's realized by now that she's never going to. she doesn't want to reconcile the bond, though, she wants it gone. ]

I understand. But I would still like to leave. [ a beat. ] Could I make a small request though? [ like she hasn't asked enough already. ]

[wynn]

Of course.

Can I leave after Faye's birthday?

[wynn]

Which is when?

[lastdragomir]

The end of the month? One of her friends of giving her a party, I guess.

[wynn]

As you wish.

[lastdragomir]

Thank you. [ a beat. ] I'm... I'm sorry I'm not strong enough to stay right now.

[wynn]

It is not a lack of strength that drives you from us, Sir Dragomir. On that much, I am very certain.

[lastdragomir]

[ the smile she gives him is small but grateful. ] I'll let you get back to the party.

[wynn]

Very well. Thank you for coming to me with this.

[lastdragomir]

[ saying "you're welcome" seems wrong, so she just nods and dips into a tiny, awkward curtsy before moving back into the ballroom. ]
