The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[ oh hugs. he pats her hair awkwardly for a second before he remembers how to do this hug thing, some of the tension in his shoulders disappearing slightly. ] Hey kid.

[She lets her chin sit on his shoulder for a second, before pulling back to look at him.]

How's it going?

Same as always. Except now you know why I kept disappearing for those "business meetings". [ to be fair some of the reasons he abruptly left town for short periods of time were for exactly that -- business meetings -- but most of the time it was a quick mission for the knights. he doesn't seem too bothered by telling her he's been lying to her for the past decade or so, but he does make sure to nail down one point. ] I did bring my mom back to Korea though. [ that was why the harrison matriarch never returned to new york even when he did. ]

[Technically they were ... business, so she doesn't seem to bothered by it. She knows what kind of secrecy they expect here, and honestly if he had told her back then that he was part of an underground organization that worked to subvert anti-Shadowkind organizations she probably would have thought he was very, very stoned.]

Good to know. How is she, by the way?

[Let's see how far away from her they can get before he starts grilling her about how this all is happening.]

[ talking about his mom is second only to talking about his dad and lucy in things only two people can get away with. it's annoying that felicity is one of those people. (more annoying that malina is the other.) he turns and keeps walking, to get outside, but he goes slow enough that it's clear he's not being dismissive of felicity. ]

She's fine. Still trying to send me mail order Korean husbands. And wives. [ a for effort, mama harrison. ]

[Yes, she is clearly trying. She slips her arm in his as they walk, a small smirk crossing her face.]

Well, maybe one day you'll make her dreams come true, and find a nice Korean boy to settle down with.

[Felicity doesn't expect that to happen ... ever.]

One day. [ yes this will never happen. he holds in his questioning all the way until they get out the doors and into the outdoors, though he immediately takes his suit jacket off and drapes it around felicity's shoulder because spring has not quite sprung yet. ]

So. Tell me all about how you joined a secret band of modern day knights.

[She doesn't fight the jacket, pulling it tight around her with a shrug.]

I was stealing something. Val'drin happened to be stealing the same thing, and apparently I impressed him enough that he made me an offer.

What were you stealing? [ what he's really asking is if he was in any way involved in bringing her to the one place he would prefer she not be.

pulling a small case from his pocket, he pulls out an equally small cigarette, lighting it before putting the case and matches away. he might need to be very, very stone for the rest of the evening. ]

[Yeah, she probably should have seen that coming. Instead he just gets a mildly disapproving look before shrugging.]

A diamond.

[It has an appropriately fancy title. She inserts it here.]

There was a great party before hand.

[ he is a druid, yo. he is one with nature. this shit is nature. he grows it himself. instead of returning her look with an appropriately snide one of her own, he whistles. val'drin being impressed is easy to see. (not that felicity isn't impressive all the time.) ] Well done. [ he holds up the cigarette like cheers.

HE IS STILL NOT PLEASED. but whatever. she is here. getting her to leave will be just as impossible as trying to get malina to leave and he isn't in the habit of expending energy on the impossible. granted, he has a bear and can call lighting down from the sky... impossible is relative.

his whistle works two fold though, as he leads them to the edge of the woods. ] Do you remember the class trip I chaperoned to Canobie Lake Park in New Hampshire where they had the bear who rode a bike?

[Her face scrunches a bit as she tries to remember, but to be honest, she blocks out a lot of her school experience. It's kind of hard to forget a bear on a bike though (wisdom 10).]

Barely. Why?

[ he doesn't answer her, just calmly watches the woods and takes drags on his joint before a small cinnamon colored bear comes trundling out of the woods. toward them. ]

Her name is Mellie.

[Felicity blinks. Just blinks, because for some odd reason in the face of a bear she's electing not to look super stunned (will save 18). But she isn't exactly moving any closer either.]

That's a bear.

[There's a beat.]

You have a bear.

I have a bear. [ mellie sits down half way between the woods and them and just seems to play patty cake with the grass, licking it like mmm you taste delicious and vegetarian. she's a cutie pie, okay. ]

[allmydreams]

[She laughs watching her with an almost childlike amazement.]

That is so cool.

[druidisms]

Surprise. [ fondly, with ease, he loops his arm around felicity's shoulders and pulls her in to kiss the top of her head. she's the only person that gets to witness his show of affection. ] It's good to see you, kid.

[allmydreams]

[She leans into him easily, her eyes still mostly on the bear, but she's missed having him around. In some ways it keeps her grounded.]

Good to see you too. I missed you.

[druidisms]

[ oh shut up felicity, you are giving him feels he doesn't want. ] You look all grown up. [ as opposed to the little teenager he still pretty much sees her as. ]

[allmydreams]

[Her head tips to the side as she looks at him.]

Kids do that, you know.

[druidisms]

[ yeah no, she's always going to be a teenager, don't front. ] They should stop.

[she smirks a bit.]

I'm sure there's a spell for that somewhere. Or there's always the option of vampirism.

As if you're a virgin. [ he scoffs in mild amusement. nope, his darling felicity cannot become a vampire. ] Maybe deep in your past you have a spark of the divine, that'll keep you around for a while.

[She shrugs a bit.]

I have a friend who's an aaismar. Maybe she'll rub off on me.

Are you trying to tell me that you're a little bit gay, Felicity? [ SO PROUD. ] 'cause I'm sure you can get something to rub off on you.
