The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[He takes a breath, trying to figure out exactly what to say.]

I think I'm doing well. Both the missions I've come back from have been successful.

[technophobic]

I'm not asking 'bout the missions, boy. I'm askin' about your place in them.

[generaldavideus]

[He frowns for a moment.]

My place?

[there's a beat.]

I'm mostly the muscle?

[technophobic]

You don't sound very certain about that.

[generaldavideus]

I'm not exactly certain what you're asking of me.

[He sighs softly.]

I go where I'm assigned and I get the job done. I get along well enough with the other knights. What exactly do you need to hear?

[technophobic]

The heart, boy, that comes with being a Knight. I'm not hearing any of it. Convince me this is where ye belong.

[Oh.

It takes him a moment to articulate the answer because he doesn't honestly have one that doesn't sound stupid: the woes of never having to give a job interview or performance review before. Convincing someone has never really been his strong suit either - he's more likely to use his fists than anything else, but in the end he just tells the truth.]

I don't know how to do anything else.

[Which isn't really as simple as it sounds, but he's been doing it for so long, it's second nature.]

I've been fighting for as long as I can remember. But here ... at least there's a point to it. There's not just battle, after battle, after battle. I know how to do the job, and I'm good at it.

[technophobic]

[ he listens carefully, and looks somewhat satisfied, a small smile actually making its way into his eyes. ] You're a born warrior, lad. Nothing wrong with that.

I believe the Hide has a place for you.

[He seems surprised, mostly because Lan is using a facial expression that isn't a lineface in his direction, but also because if that means what he thinks it means.]

[He relaxes even more, smiling a bit as he does.]
