[He runs a hand through his hair and pauses, as if suddenly remembering something... or possibly he just wants to change the subject without getting up and leaving the room. That seems like effort.] What were you reading?

[ she freezes. looks at the book. looks back at him. doesn't make a move for it, oh god. ] Er, nothing.

[/Good, the Bad, and the Ugly plays in the distance.

Des raises an eyebrow, stares at her for a second, and then... makes a mad dive for the book with a scary 28 dex check. holy shit. He just barely beats Gar for the book. NEVER GO UP AGAINST A GUY WITH A HIGH DEX SCORE, GAR.]

Oooh. Nothing's got a racy cover.

[He flips through it, gets about twenty pages in and reads in the tone of someone who has a pretty damn good porn-reading voice (god i hope no one else is in this library):]

"He thrust deeper and deeper; she’d never had a man so deep inside her. Again, each lancing contact almost hurt. He spread her legs wider and locked them in place with his steel arms. He pounded her relentlessly, and she held on to his shoulders for dear life, feeling his muscles flex, his whole body intent on-"

[He squints at the book, flips back a few pages and shrugs.] Well, I feel informed.

[FROM UP ABOVE, there's muffled laughter.]

[ Alanna has grown up around a whole castle full of pubescent boys. If anyone expected maturity out of her, they were barking up the wrong tree. From beside the railing near Helen, she shouts; ]

Oi! Don't stop at the good bits. [ Her nose crinkles in amusement as she turns her attention towards Helen, chuckling. ]

Alanna! [Helen tries to scold her but god she's laughing in earnest now.]

[ gar's mortification knows no bounds. she looks up at the voices, turns redder, then makes a mad snatch for the book from des' hands ] You can't take it entirely out of context and-- and understand what it's all about!

[(reflex save 25) Des just... further humiliates her apparently by holding it over his head out of her reach and howling with laughter.]

Really? Maybe I could read a little more and get some historical context?

[And back to the porn voice.] "Everything was sensations, that's all there was as she felt his fingers trail along the crease of her thighs, then grasp her-" Wow that is one way to use that Round Table. Does Wynn know about this?

[Okay Helen is almost crying now. Sorry, Gar. She leans over the railing.]

Mr. Descant- did anyone ever tell you that you have quite an enchanting voice?

[ a little too enchanting. the way alanna raises one eyebrow is bordering on solicitous (will save 12) but she's mostly keeping it to herself ... #fuckstruck ]

[ gar gives up trying to grab and just flops back down into her chair, interlacing her fingers together over to bury her face in her hands. she may... not be able to look at you right now, des. ] It's-- it's not-- [ her voice vanishes away as she groans beneath her breath: ] May I have my book back please.

[Des places it back on the table beside her and gives her a delicate pat on the knee, which is probably the last thing she needs from him right now. That done, he gives the peanut gallery a little bow and smirks.]

Thank you, Peaches. I'll be here all week. And probably the next week after that.

[Just gonna back out slowly now. Like a champ.]

[rationalizes]

[ gar is just gonna need a moment here, deep breaths, before she ashamedly slides that book off the table and tucks it in her bag. sheepishly she calls up: ] Can we pretend no one heard any of that?

[Helen glances at Alanna, feeling a little bad, but also feeling a bit like she can't forget that voice. Ahem.]

It could be worse, you know. At least he didn't find you reading Fifty Shades- though now I am a bit curious if Mr. Descant could make even that sound good somehow.

[Is she kidding??? The world may never know.]

[ Alanna gives a brief tap to Helen's elbow and begins to climb down the stairs to where Gar waits below. ] If Mr. Descant found it quite so shocking to learn that women enjoy sex, perhaps he shouldn't have been so quick to leave the library. He's clearly got a good deal left to learn.

Jeanne, there's no shame in it. I can assure you that this Knighthood has seen far more vulgar things. Why, just ask Zero or Andrew what they've found in the computer lab.
