[Considering Des initiated the first hug, he shouldn't be surprised when Myri gives him one, but he's still a little startled. He wraps his arms around her though and sighs.] Glad you're home safe, Little Bit.

[Resting her head against his chest, Myri settles in for a long hug. She's been hug deprived.]

Me too. We're planning on going out for pancakes soon- everyone. Which means you too. I don't know when yet, but... You'll come, won't you?

[He will oblige her a long hug.

And there's absolutely no hesitation when he answers her.]

You really think I'm gonna miss pancakes?

[witchwoman]

[She shakes a little with laughter, pulling back from the hug slowly.]

Good. It wouldn't be right without you there.

Getting the band back together again. [He laughs with her.] It sounds real nice about now.

[witchwoman]

I think it's just what we need. Besides- we're all going to be seeing more of each other soon enough.

[Maybe if she acts like going back to the island is some sort of field trip, she won't have to give in to the way it terrifies her.]

[Des swallows.] Yeah... About that. [He cants his head at her, expression pained.] Myri, I need to know as much as you can tell me about what we're going into.

[witchwoman]

I... [Things she doesn't want to think about in heavy detail for $400, Alex?]

Not here. [in the damn hallway] Are you staying in one of the squire rooms?

[nothingsodivine]

Yeah. [He gestures down the hallway and leads to her a room. this room, actually. The pictures (and the mirror) on the walls are all gone and most of the furniture is missing save for the bed, the desk, the dresser, and the desk chair.

He strolls in and pulls the desk chair out so he can sit backwards in it, leaving Myri to sit on the canopy bed, if she chooses.] Make yourself at home.

[witchwoman]

[She does take a seat on the bed, not seeming to notice how little is left in the room. She's much more focused on her lap, toying with the gem of her shirt as she tries to prepare herself for the memory.]

What do you want to know?

You don't have to go into details about that. I can figure out the gist. [He folds his arms.] Do you think we're walking into a trap?

[witchwoman]

I know we are. [She finally looks up at him.] I didn't realize it at first, but I remembered something this morning. When I first arrived, he said something about extending an invitation. I didn't know what he meant. But it's this. It has to be.

[nothingsodivine]

He don't seem like the type who'd leave it at "stop pursuing the case or else," either. [He rubs his forehead.] This could get really bad. Kyp knew Buffy and I won't leave this case alone, no matter what. That was one of the few things he did get out of me.

[witchwoman]

Des, we have to kill him. We can't-- He can't be left alive.

[There's a slight tremble in her shoulders. The idea of that man remaining alive isn't an option for Myri. She's terrified of him.]

I'm the last person here you'd have to convince of that. [His expression hardens.] I'll blow his damn head off myself if I have to.

[witchwoman]

[His conviction seems to give her strength to describe a bit more.] They kept me in a cell. But there are other kinds of rooms. Medical rooms. That's where they brought Spike when they cut him open. They kept me in a room above. To watch them do it. I don't know what else though. I was always watched.

[nothingsodivine]

[He nods slowly.] So we're going in blind, beyond what that Dragon's Claw remembers. [He rubs his face.] Did Dimitris do anything himself or did he just watch?

[There's an unspoken part of that. If he touched you himself, then he's going to have a lot more to contend with than not having a head anymore.]

[witchwoman]

[She shakes her head, swallowing before continuing.]

He watched. But not only. He told them exactly what to do, how to to continue, when to stop. He doesn't consider me human. I think he was too disgusted by me to do any of it himself.

[nothingsodivine]

[des stands and crosses over to her, joining her on the bed.] Don't take that to heart, kiddo. Bet he doesn't think me and Buffy are human either.

[witchwoman]

It's not that. I don't care what he thinks about me. I just don't understand how a heart can be so dark.

[nothingsodivine]

[Des sighs.] Because the world's not the way we want it to be? Because sometimes bad things happen to people and they don't get over it or try to be better, because they're too bitter about their situation. So they just become monsters and hurt other people. I don't claim to know this bastard's sob story and I don't fucking care, but I know nobody's born bad. They just choose to stay that way, and they keep perpetuating this cycle of suffering, because of it. And they just don't realize that if they opened their eyes and thought about it, they could move past it. Forgive. Forget. Break the chain. Whatever.

[He rubs his face.] But they don't.

[witchwoman]

[Myri doesn't respond, just looks down at her lap. It's hard not to wonder how this keeps happening to her. She was hunted before she came through the Veil, now captured and tortured here. Would it ever end? Was this a cycle she was doomed to repeat?]

The people aren't all like him there. We met a woman in the woods. She's the one who brought us back.

If he populated that entire island with psychopaths and captives, I'd be shocked. It's what's keeping someone from blowing him up.

[witchwoman]

There are people who were part of the ruling family, the one he overthrew to take control. I think they would help us, or at least do what they could to help. I'm not sure how many of them are battle ready.

[nothingsodivine]

Probably half of none. We might be spending a lot of time in the bush teaching locals guerrilla warfare.

[He huffs.] 'Cause this'll go to war. There's no doubt about that.
