pembrokeshire ♔ the day has come where i have died

WHO || Lydia Martin, Alaric Saltzman, Helen Magnus, Rose Hathaway, Sydney Bristow
WHAT || A couple of knights take a short trip west to investigate reports of Shadowkind deaths.
WHERE || Police Station, Pembrokeshire, Wales
WHEN || May 20th
HOW || Actionspam
The briefing was simple and direct: a string of disappearing Shadowkind centered around a small farming town in Wales. The Karthur Institute wasn't called in until the local authorities got reports of incessant, blood-curdling screams coming from a barn just past the edge of town. They found a girl curled in the corner there, screaming her lungs out, shaking, and looking like she'd been running around the forest alone for days.
They also found the five bodies of their missing townspeople in the barn.
They tell the knights (and thus, Wynn tells them) that the girl is in police custody, but they don't tell them that she's pinned in a cell. They've fed her and given her a coat by now, but the deputy is quick to alert Helen, Rose, Sydney, and Alaric as they arrive of the bad news.
"She hasn't shut up since we put her in there." He glances back over his shoulder, toward the lock-up. "Not screamin', just wanting to know who they were." He looks back at the knights, grim. "Don't think she's got any idea how she got out there. I don't have it in me to tell her I don't either; wherever she's rom, it inn't Pembrokeshire."

Uh - [She gives a small shake of her head.] The bodies? Are they here too or back at the barn?
[It's possible that after this, Rose was going to leave most of the talking to Helen because apparently Rose thinks that somebody who is actually English will have a better idea of what this guys saying.]
no subject
Yes, we'll need to see those before we're finished. I think it might be best to talk to the girl first, though. [Helen hasn't ruled out the possibility that this girl may somehow be connected to the deaths. And she'd rather have some back up, in that case.]
no subject
We're not animals. We took 'em on down to the hospital, o 'course. [ he makes a gesture in the direction of where the hospital's at (generally northeast) and then pulls the keys from his belt, stepping out from behind his desk to lead them to the cell. it's ok helen. he thinks she's probably involved, too. ]
Hasn't been cooperating with any of our guys. You think you'll do better?
[ as they approach, lydia jumps to her feet and grabs the bars of her cell, shouting 'About time! Are you going to tell me what you found or keep your thumb up your--' she stops when she sees the others, backing away from the bars. her look says it all: who the hell are you people? ]
no subject
Of course you did. [Smiling tightly. Who needs an in tact crime scene anyway? (Will Save 17 was the only thing making that an inside thought).]
We'll give it a - [Rose stops mid sentence as Lydia comes into view, head canting to one side while the redhead raises a version of hell that Rose can't help but find a little amusing.] Shot...
[Clearly she's a serial killer. /sarcastic thoughts.]
Do you have an interview room we could use? Something without bars, maybe?
no subject
Hi there. [Because they should probably actually acknowledge the poor girl/potential killer. Gurl, you were looking a hot mess rn. Though if her current mental state matched her outward appearance, it might be better to let one of his three associates take point as far as talking to her.]
no subject
You're here to investigate?
[ the deputy talks over her question, answering rose while lydia carries on with alaric. 'got an office you can use. we don't have a whole lotta space out here … tends to be a quiet little town.' he gives an authoritative nod like yes rose be impressed with me. ]
I'll tell you whatever you want to know, just get me out of here.
no subject
[That Magnus charm does get her places (diplomacy 35 just to keep them in the good graces of these cops).]
Open the door, deputy. I think we're more than equipped to escort her on our own. I would hate to keep you from your work.
no subject
Okay so her eyes still say I'm judging you but she tried.
Yeah she'll just wander over to the cell that's holding Lydia to wait for the deputy and lowers her voice.]
You have a... Hay. [Casually scratching the back of her own head to indicate where.] In your hair. [What? That's what girls do for each other.]
no subject
if she was going to murder y'all, here was her chance.
instead, she hesitates, eyeing them as she finishes picking at her hair and arches her eyebrows. ] ... Well?
[ the deputy catches up and reaches a hand out to indicate for her to step over. he tries to grip her upper arm and she yanks her hand away, walking alongside rose as he leads them the whole 20ft to his boss's office, which has a single wooden door with a window with a shade pulled over it.
'you take all the time you folks need,' he assures as lydia moves into the office to find a seat. he turns to helen. 'we found her car out by the barn. ran the plates, but nothin' came up. that's why the sheriff figured we oughtta call you.' he nods, making it clear he just wanted to establish that before they went inside. as if lydia is going to bite or something. ]

snap back until she ... actually really looks at her. the animosity drains
quickly out of her expression (will 11). her shoulders shrug and she
hunches back in her seat, scooting back. ]
Lydia Martin. [ she may be intimidated into cooperation, but she's
still replying in a snide, curt tone of voice. ] But my name
isn't going to help you find whoever killed all those people.

[ the implication of her sharp tone being, obviously, that these knights should be the ones to make that better life choice. she leans forward, slapping her palms on the sheriff's desk. ]
I didn't see anything. I don't even know how I got there; I went to sleep at home last night. I woke up, started driving, and the next thing I know, I'm screaming my head off in some barn.
[ she glances over to ric and rose, who seem to have more empathy for her. she knows how to work a room, expression growing vulnerable and just a little pouty. ] They told me they found my car parked halfway in a ditch nearby with the doors open. I don't even remember getting out of it.

??? ♔ rose, sydney, lydia
Wis 13 can identify it as a basement, though the stairs are out of view courtesy of stacks of storage boxes. They all wake up around the same time as the spell wears off, and the three of them are all tied to the thick, wooden support beam of the basement with zip ties holding their arms behind their back. Enjoy your stiff shoulders — it's been a while.
Daylight is still coming through, though, so it's either been less than a couple hours, or ... a day or more. :) ]

Rose? Lydia?

Unngh... Go to the country they said. It'll be lovely they said... [Another groan.] I officially hate the country.
[Yep. Rose is here.]
no subject
I'm here.
[ Because of them. This is all their fault. ]
You know, if you guys hadn't tried to help, I could be sitting perfectly safe in a jail cell right now instead of kidnapped by some psychopath. Or -paths. [ Her wis check of 8 means she hasn't gathered what page everyone else is on. ] Where are we?

I'd still say you're better off with us. [No but really. The crotch scratching moron was never a better option.] Did anyone see if Ric and Helen got away at least?
no subject
[ Just saying. Her lack of answer really explains what she knows about Ric and Helen's situation here. Nothing. Syd manages to work her hands free of the zip ties, but Lydia is still struggle bussin' it with her escape artist check of 7. ]

keep slamming your head against a brick wall and hope for a different outcome?!no but really, Rose finally manages to break free from her binding (Str 23 - had to happen eventually in her mind), the Dhampir letting out a grunt as she untangles herself and rubs her sore wrists.]I've never been really good at waiting for the rescue anyway. [It's canon.]
They used magic, right? [(Wis 21). Rose sounding indignant.] Cheaters.
no subject
[ I guess werewolves and resurrection rituals and kanimas are all normal, but magic is a bridge too far. She gets to her feet. ]
Let's just get out of here and call them before someone —
[ ahahahaha make a listen check. Lydia's gaze drifts upward, tracing something along the ceiling. ]
... Do you hear that?
