In less than twenty-four hours, everything has turned on its head.

A Knight and her allies were kidnapped by Iscariot agents for execution in Rome, barely escaping with their lives.

A mission meant to free one Knight from the influence of a dark god succeeded - at the price of another's life.

A simple recon mission at a Keijen Blade concert nearly led to two Knights committing mind-controlled suicide in front of an eager crowd.

Several Knights went to see Draken Crombe, leader of the Church of the Lord's Humanity, speak in person, and learned just how sinister his religion's dogma is.

A call from Sir Hathaway alerted Wynn to the escape of the doppelganger from the Knight's dungeons, an escape perhaps aided by Elena Gilbert.

A demigod interrupted what might have been a simple smash and grab retrieval of an artifact.

And most horrific of all, in the middle of the night, hundreds of Shadowkind in New York City awoke, and walked in a mindless trance down to the Hudson River to drown themselves. Only the quick thinking and combined efforts of the Knights present and their allies prevented all of them from succeeding.

Beset on all sides, a dark time awaits for the Knighthood - who were already suffering from the capture of Dragon's Claw Sir Thomas Bancroft at the hands of their long time enemy Dimitris Sarandis of Andres Isle.

In times such as these, the light can be difficult to find. Hope itself seems somewhere just out of reach.

[What a lively bunch. Unlike most of his somber comrades, Klaus isn't exactly putting out a "do not disturb" vibe. Bored? Certainly, but otherwise entirely approachable. He won't be turning down the little baby airplane cocktails, and occasionally he can be seen sketching Nick a unicorn on a napkin or something. Feel free to come and interrupt. He might even let you keep the little napkin sketch. :')]

[ it's a long trek back from the booze stand i guess, so he passes klaus and regrettably doesn't make a good spot check to see the unicorn but he does notice that klaus doesn't seem as traumatized as everyone else here (sense motive 26). ]

I take it you and the dead guy weren't exactly bosom buddies.

[asuma]

We'd spoken once or twice. [Like those two times Klaus ever bothered to visit the firing range or something, but beyond that Luthir was just another face in the hallways to him.]

Formalities, really. [He tucks the fantasy artwork away in favor of reaching for his drink. Because he wasn't going to be sober for the duration of this flight--not flying with these people ok.]

Klaus. [Really, doesn't anyone among you have manners tho.] And you are?

Dean Winchester. [ hey, someone who's not gonna cry about it, so he can at least ask questions. yay. ] So who was the guy?

[asuma]

[Was it rude to refer to the recently deceased as cannon fodder? Probably best that he choose another approach to answer Dean's question, all things considered...]

Well, apart from the obvious-- [Unless Dean lacked the perception to realize that Luthir was one of their own by now] --he was Violet's husband. They two of them were just married, in fact.

[ he glances towards the back, at the girl he'd had a brief convo with ] Yikes.

One hell of a honeymoon.

[asuma]

Yes. Quite the unfortunate circumstance, I'm afraid. [He says this like he's delivering a company line because he really has no ties to either of them, and thus is ... not very affected by the loss.]

Has anyone bothered to fill you in on the less personal aspects of this whole situation?

Double doppelgangers, one who worked with you guys before she turned traitor, and some kinda involvement with the Prime Minister of Andres Isle.

[asuma]

[Klaus smiles at Dean's assessment of the situation with Elena. Because it's amusing to him.]

Seems you're all caught up then.

[likedillinger]

Still seems to be some pieces missing.

[bigbad]

[Spike's spot check of 35 means he sure sees that napkin sketch.] Did you ask for his number before you left? I mean... long distance, it'd be hard, but I'll bet you two kids could make it work.

[asuma]

It shouldn't surprise me, really, but then what can one expect from such a simple mind who allowed himself to become so easily controlled not once, but twice in one evening?

[Klaus doesn't even bother looking up at Spike as he responds to him. He's busy shading Nick's horn ok. No respect for such a majestic creature you filthy peasant.

Once that's finished, he will grant Spike his full attention. And a smile.]

[bigbad]

[Is he seriously giving Spike crap for getting mind controlled? Spike stares for a moment, taken aback by how ridiculously stupid an insult that is from someone who contributed all of an Archer catch to the mission. And knocking out other mind controlled people, but it's not like that's hard.]

Funny, I don't recall you doing a whole lot to help the team. Least my mind control got us answers.

[asuma]

[Klaus actually chuckles in response because really bitch. Without him there Tia would have probably had an aneurism while everyone was mindlessly throwing themselves toward the enemy, and the entire lot of you would have likely been screwed six ways from Sunday.]

Ah, is that what you recall. [It ain't even a question. Weren't you brainwashed for 80% of the operation seems to be the implication here. It's no wonder you don't recall all that much of what actually happened, mate.]

Was there something else I could help you with, or was that the extent of it? [You're dismissed, basically.]

[bigbad]

[Yeah good job you held Tia's hair. That takes lots of skill. Spike raises an eyebrow at him. What an asshole.]

Think I'm seeing why you're just a squire, mate. You really don't play well with others.

[asuma]

So that was it, in other words. [Run along now, Klaus is already focused back on his drawing. Maybe next time Spike will remember to come correct.]

[witchwoman]

[While walking by, myri sees the drawing he's working on and pauses.]

You're very good at that. [It's really only now that she realizes she's never actually spoken to this guy. But she'll wait to do any introductions after she determines if he actually wants to talk.]

[asuma]

[Ah, finally. Someone with both good sense and manners. Klaus looks up to offer Myri a smile, because even one of those qualities would have set her miles apart from the majority of her teammates.]

I thought it the one thing I could take away from this mission that I'd actually care to remember. [How often does one get to see a unicorn?]

[witchwoman]

I suppose it was the one bit of good. I had never seen anything like him before.

[asuma]

Nor have I. Where I came from, creatures such as that existed only in fairy tales.

[witchwoman]

Like dragons. [Shes learned enough to know that dragons were a part of this lands mythos.]

Have you ever heard of a flywacket?

[asuma]

I can't say that I have. [But he looks interested enough, if she'd care to enlighten him.]

[witchwoman]

[She holds her hands apart to give a measure of rough size- indicating something that would probably equate to a dog that was juuuust on the edge of being too big to be a lap dog. This is very precise measuring. Shut up.]

Flywackets are cousins to dragons. They can appear catlike, but if they're around people they trust, they may reveal the two large wings they keep hidden in folds along their back. And their claws aren't claws at all- but talons like you might find on a bird. [She drops her hands back into her lap, expression going a little more sad.] My familiar, Amaranth- he's a flywacket. He was with me on Andres while I was there. There wasn't time to go back to find him when we escaped.

[asuma]

[That's right. Klaus was present at Elena's knighting ceremony when Myri and Spike arrived, so he's not entirely in the dark about that whole situation.]

It seems that opportunity may present itself sooner rather than later. [Considering the situation with Elena. Kyp had ties to Andres, after all.] If your friend Amaranth is half as resilient as you've proven yourself to be, I've no doubt that you'll be reunited.

[witchwoman]

I hope so. He has been with me since I was a child, kept me safe through many troubling times.
