There are plenty of missions that return to the castle a success - most of them, even. The defeated air of the solemn group that returns from their diplomatic mission to Andres Isle to hear the demands of dictator Dimitris Sarandis makes it quite clear that this wasn't one of those.

Starting with Sarandis' actual demands - for all Knights to withdraw from Andres under penalty of death, or for Wynn to offer his own head in return for Thomas' safe return - and ending with the unexpected, disturbing confession from Kat that she intended to stay behind on the island because she had "fallen in love with" the dictator, the events of the island made it very clear that Sarandis was cannily playing his hand to get the Knights where he wanted them.

Fred Jr. shoves open the doors with his unnatural strength, stalking in ahead of the group into the lobby. Whoever's on desk duty isn't going to have to roll a high wisdom check to see that these people are pissed... and distraught... and a myriad of other emotions on the bad end of the scale.

*I am changing the date of the briefing log and Andres log/live session to have taken place in September, to avoid us being in backdated hell forever, and to allow for a September squiring ceremony before apps are closed. Carry on... in the future!

[So I guess this is the morning of that awkward brunch with his sister. Which was probably good to do in case one of them like, dies or something. Afterward he is doing Starbucks with Astrid (and co. [?]) and probably possibly blowies, but you can always catch him in between or text him mid-whatever. He likes to snapchat ok.

This basically serves as another generic-ass comment for one of my guys in case anyone actually wants to talk to him before the war summit yw.]

[Stiles is going to be extra creepy and just be in Adam's room whenever he comes back. He's just still sort of freaked out about this whole thing and wants to check in with the people he gives a shit about. And Adam is one of those people.

So yeah. Stiles will just be hanging out, sitting at the edge of Adam's bed. This is probably not when he might bring Astrid back to his room for sex things. But I guess it could be too.]

[Immediately after hearing Wynn's message, Andrew turns to Bo, because they're likely together, possibly not completely clothed. Who knows! But everything goes quiet for a moment while he processes the information. Finally, he sets his phone down and turns to her.]

You're going... aren't you? [It sounds sort of hollow, like it's not really a question that she would. Of course she would. She's kick ass. But he's... Well, he's not. He's sort of made of marshmallow and prone to hurting himself more than another person.]

[After checking in with his brother, there's really only one other person that Andrew needs to speak with about all this shit. Ella just got back a few months ago, just lost her parents, and now a war? He knocks on her door, maybe a little too hard. He's just sort of flustered, but can you blame the guy???]

[The rest of Andrew's time spent prior to the War Council will be spent tinkering. He starts in the Hoard lab, but discovers that he just wants to spread everything out all at once, so he takes all his shit out in to the library and pulls all the tables together to make a giant work station for himself. He's going to finish as many gadgets as possible before shit goes to hell. It's a race against himself and he's doomed to lose, but at least he can feel useful this way.]

[ lissa has very few people she desperately needs to see during her preparations. she does want to speak to anastacia, but more as just checking in than anything. it's not the same as how she quickly strides the hallways for max.

she doesn't check in with rose because she knows rose won't care and can check in without lissa's consent anyway.

aside from that, she is going about her business with a calm surety as she gathers supplies and equipment she isn't entirely used to but knows will come in handy. mainly armor. she's more used to people just protecting her, but she's learning to protect herself now. she's a smart, strong, sensual woman. what would tina belcher do, basically. ]

[For Kate, whether or not she was going wasn't really a question. She knows what she signed up for when she took the job, and if what she's read about Sarandris is true, then this is what she needs to do. She's never been one to back away from a fight and she's not about to stop now.

Still, going to war is a big decision. She'd be lying if she didn't say that there was a part of her that had thought twice about it. But there's no reason for her to stay, no debilitating injury or alternate obligation. She's healthy, strong and able-bodied. She's going into that fight unless Wynn tells her not to.

That doesn't mean she's sleeping easy, however. The night before the summit she can be found almost everywhere but her room, in a futile effort to keep busy and keep her mind from digging into this too much. She'll be in the library, the gym, the shooting range, outside, anywhere really. Come find her. She'll happily talk to you.]

[The upcoming battle is an important fight for Brantley. He has been watching over Sarandis through his information network and the only thing he can do so far is just waiting in silence while hearing all the horrible things Sarandis has done. Now, he has the chance to fight and he is definitely going to give it all to take the man down. For today, he is spending his time, preparing his body and mind for the battle. In the afternoon he spends his time in the training room, practicing his boxing. but at night, he spends his time in the castle bar, collecting his mind and mental reserve. Though he might seems a bit pensive today, he is open to anyone that wants to have a spar, a chat, or even for a party with him.]

Maxwell Briggard | OTA

[Max has undergone this kind of thing before, the preparation of a war. But unlike the jobs he has done with his mercenary group, this one has much larger scale. Still, a war is a war, and it doesn't has much different with the things he used to do. He just spends the day doing his normal activity. Physical training around the castle, defeating the dark lord in the recreational room, chomping down the supplies in the kitchen and having conversation with the past at the outskirt of the forest. Everything's just like a normal routine for him. He just spends his time wandering around the castle and watching all the Knights getting busy for the battle.]

[ alice is from boston, girl knows how to drink. at the moment though, she is fussing with teaching the bartender to make a flaming dr pepper. he is doing it wrong so eventually she just asks him if she can do it herself. she pours the beer, pours the shot of amaretto, layers it with barcardi 151. she carefully balances the shot on the lip of the glass. and then with a lighter she pulls out of fucking nowhere, lights the shot on fire, flicks the shot into the glass where the flames are doused by the slosh of beer covering it, and downs half the beer in one gulp.

and then makes such a face. ] Oh god, I can still taste it. [ whine whine whine. #adult. ]

[ gus is doing gus things. which amounts to checking on his squires, making sure they have appropriate armor, weapons and healing potions, packing his own shit. having deep conversations with his bear. it's very exciting, but gus is seemingly calm the entire time.

he might be on the phone with his mom for a while, speaking korean quickly. in any case, he isn't opposed to interruptions. ]

[Helen goes out looking for Gus in his area in the woods surrounding the castle. She's not being particularly quiet about her approach, but she doesn't exactly stomp through the woods either. It only takes a few moments for her to realize that it's his mother on the phone. Reaching out, she touches his elbow gently as she moves into his space, giving a slight wave and a nod towards the phone as a silent request for him to tell his mother she's said hello. She won't interrupt, exactly. But she's also not going to turn around and leave. She only knows enough Korean to call him an idiot when he needs to be properly scolded. She won't really be eavesdropping.]

[Gus finds Cora out at their campsite sitting cross-legged by the tent that hasn't been taken down yet. She's still half-in the castle, half-out most days. She honestly wasn't expecting to find Gus there (though maybe part of her was), she just wanted to get away from all the noise and anxiety that permeated the castle in the wake of Wynn's announcement.

Going to war isn't what she signed up for. But it isn't really something she can say no to either. Those people are people like her, people who fell through the Veil and unlike her, didn't have the Knights coming in to protect them from people like Hellsing or Sarandis, apparently.

That is the job she signed up for. Helping people. Helping people she can do.

Her head lifts up when she hears him coming (listen 21) and she gives him a small smile.]

[Felicity finds him after the announcement is made, because she knows that this is the reason he didn't want her in the Knights in the first place. He wanted her to stay out of this life, and while he didn't find out until it was too late and she was already in it, that doesn't mean she doesn't know how he feels.

There are a whole mess of emotions tied to this for both of them, so she's just going to wander into his room while he's out of it, and be waiting there when he gets back. This is just for them, really, so she isn't going to do it somewhere public.]

She's put Olivia down to sleep, holding the baby monitor in her hand and ensuring that she'll be able to speed to her daughter the moment she hears the slightest change in her breathing. The word of war makes her torn in her feelings about it all. She's seen how war can tear people apart, how alliances can be forged and broken. The way sides had been drawn in New Orleans she knows that no matter who returns victorious, there will be losses on both sides. She's moving through the hallways trying to find Klaus, but anyone could stop her.

She checked on Olivia a few times, but she seems to be sleeping through the night. Of course, leave it to the daughter of Klaus and Hayley to sleep through war. Hayley still needs to find Klaus, to find out if he plans on going or staying. She spots him and for a moment she stills in her steps, unsure of how to even approach him about this. Of course, it's not like she has a lot of time. They're probably leaving soon and she can't wait on this. Hayley moves toward him, the baby monitor still in hand.

[Well that was a nice week and a half vacation. Apparently that's all the time she gets off before going to war. The strange thing is that Faye isn't even thinking about not going. She texts Lila just to confirm that she won't be around tonight. They'll catch up in the morning, which isn't a big deal.

In a possibly really weird choice of location, Faye is laying down on her back in the middle of the ballroom. She's on her phone, typing away, then calling various vendors to see how fast they can deliver to the 'Karthur Institute' and then halve that time if she pays them extra. She's not being quiet about it and the ballroom is pretty echo-y. She's missed 2-3 squiring parties. Maybe she just missed this room.]

[ sean was just wandering by when he heard faye's voice and curiosity got the best of him. he has the attention span of a gnat that only lives for twenty seconds, so while he realized she was gone...

[Des arrives early the next morning before the inevitable briefing, probably to say goodbye to Rafael before he heads back to Burtland, because they are occasionally exceedingly homo.

He looks like he didn't sleep that well the previous night, and his hair is still mussed, but he's trying to flatten it out as he walks into the castle, frowning when it refuses to lie straight.

This inevitably leads to him finding the closest mirror and trying to tame his precious hair. Leave him alone.]
