English, German, Yuan-ti, and Latin. I think that's probably why most people don't catch the lisp. They hear the German more, assume it's part of that.

Is that what that is? [I'm glad he got a high wisdom check to recognize THE YUAN-TI LISP, but then rolled a 7 to recognize a German accent.]

[ speaking of german and yuan-ti, of which lila is neither, the tiny blonde comes busting in like the kool aid man, speaking german and yuan-ti because that is how she practices and she can only... practice with astrid. so rapid fire german mingled with less rapid yuan-ti chatter about traffic because it was a bitch. so exciting also: ] And I brought Starbucks.

[ a beat as she notices des. ] Hello ...forgot your name.

Yay!! [yay starbucks. she nods and gives a few german/yuan-ti responses to lila before going back to] Oh, yeah, it is. I grew up in Frankfurt. [then, to lila] That's Des. A cat mauled him.

Pretty sure it was a demon cat from hell. [And apparently Des remembers everything about Lila, including what she wore that day or something because he rolled a 22 wis that time. Damn girl.] And you are the girl with the healthy appetite from the bowling alley. Still seeing the guy with the eyebrows?

Everyone I know in England lives here. [And he is not touching the cat part, because that cat is Archer's cat and is therefore Satan.] It means my social life eventually circles back here.

Uh, yeah, sure. [she goes under the counter to get her purse, then fishes out the card and hands it over.] I don't think I need — oh! Coffee from Intelligentsia! That would be cool.

[Des looks up when Lila mentions Chicago and clears his throat to get her attention.] If you're going that way, mind doin' me a favor?

Sure. [ she shrugs like w/e, scribbling intelligentsia on her arm like its a notepad. ]

[Des pulls his wallet out of his pocket and produces a card with a handwritten address on it.]

I haven't been able to get back that way for awhile. I meant to, but... [He shrugs.] Could you get some sunflowers and take them there. The name on the grave's "Eterna Jade."

[He looks up at the ceiling and rubs his face.] I'll owe you one. I've been told I'm a decent person to have in your debt.

[Even if it's for a minor thing like this. It's important.]

Yeah, sure. [ she mentally adds des to her list of people that owe her favors. that answer also answer's astrid's question. meeting him once clearly means she knows him. ] You know it's really not that hard to get back to though... right? Like I do this trip twice a month.

[ his excuse is shitty basically. ]

[Des shoots Astrid a mildly pained look, but since he was racist, he probably deserved that. He runs a hand through his hair, awkwardly.]

I know it's not hard to get back there. I got my reasons.

[They're mostly not wanting to be caught with his guard down if Iscariot decides to make a move. Sure, Rafael makes these trips fine without being molested, but Des isn't an international pop sensation. Regardless of whether or not they care about Rafael's fame or not, he's still the sort who could vanish easily off the radar.]
