[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of the first half of the month.    Because not everyone is into parties, ok.

[he should be used to it by now. :'( it's fine, people choosing to interact with his dogs over him is just fine and dandy because he's not a huge fan of people to begin with. but he can't help but watch cora and lemon, because he doesn't remember ever meeting cora.] I'm guessing you two have already met. [lemon sniffs at cora's hand and licks it as if to confirm. hello friend. pets now???]

[So many pets. Cora's smile widens as she starts to pet him, scritching behind his ears before she glances up to Will and ... actually acknowledges his existence.]

Yeah. When he was with Abigail.

[A beat.]

Sorry, I'm Cora.

[mydesigns]

[he glances away as she looks at him, going back to staring at his books. /best at socialization ever. he shrugs like w/e, it's fine.] You're friends with Abigail? [good. she could use more friends tbh. they talked about this.]

[impetere]

[It's cool, Cora doesn't care. Hales aren't exactly the most sociable either, unless they're Peter who just ... likes to hear himself talk. Will's lack of eye contact give her permission to give more attention to the dog. She hesitates for just a second, because she isn't sure if Abigail considers Cora a friend, though ... she did dress her for her squiring, so that probably counts as friendship on some level.

Being a teenage girl is hard.]

Yeah. We're friends.

[mydesigns]

That's good. [he tries not to make abigail seem lame by saying some parent shit like "she needs more friends" or something.] I'm Will. Her legal guardian.

[impetere]

[It takes her a moment, before her mind finds that particular piece of information out of the things that Abigail's told her (wisdom 15).]

Right. The guy from home.

[Which is not as kind as "legal guardian" but is almost more important in a way. He knew her before the Veil happened.]

[mydesigns]

[he nods to confirm.] Not that that means a lot. I don't remember very much about home. It's all ... smoke and mirrors. Fever dreams.

[impetere]

I think that's pretty common with the Veil. But I think that it's still good to have the familiar face, even if they don't remember. It's ... comforting.

[It's her situation with Derek, but then again her situation is a bit extreme. She thought he was dead.]

[mydesigns]

It is. I just wish I remembered more. [he stares at her for a moment, like he's trying to size her up.] And you...? [are from the other side of the veil??? remember anything?????]

[impetere]

[She nods a bit in agreement to both of those silent questions.]

I'm Shadowkind too. I remember ... a good amount, I guess? Nothing that really feels like I'm missing important stuff.

[Except for apparently her uncle being a bit sadistic? Though she's still trying to figure out if she trusts what Allison told her there.]

[mydesigns]

That's good. My memory feels like ... it's like a book with entire sections ripped out. Almost like someone took a hacksaw to my entire life.

[impetere]

At least you remember some things. I've heard that some people don't remember anything at all.

[Which is probably good and bad - it would depend on the person. Some probably wouldn't care about something they can't remember, and some would obsess over the fact that it was there, and now it's missing. She's willing to bet that Derek is the latter.]

[mydesigns]

So have I. Do you think it would be better to not remember anything at all, or worse? I've heard the arguments for both.

[impetere]

[She gives a bit of a shrug.]

If it were me? Worse. I would have no answers about who I was or where I came from. I'd be spending all my time looking for them.

[mydesigns]

Would you seek the answers if you had the access, but you knew you probably wouldn't like what you found?

[impetere]

[Oh, would you look at that. This is her current dilemma with information about her Uncle Peter. Thankfully, she doesn't know that Stiles Knows Things yet, she only knows what Allison has told her, but it's still been weighing on her a bit.]

That's what I'm trying to figure out, actually. I'm not sure if making sure I know the truth is better or worse than just keeping the memories I have.

It's what I'm trying to figure out, too. [but since cora is abigail's friend, he won't ... delve too deeply into that.] I've already had a taste of what I'm missing. I'm not sure if more is something I'm equipped to handle.

[impetere]

[She nods a bit, understanding that.]

Part of me doesn't want to actually believe it - what other people are telling me? But if they are right I don't want to be caught off guard either.

[If Peter ever comes to the castle and he is as bad as Allison says, she wants to be able to protect her brother. What she doesn't know, however, is if she can trust Allison.]

I'm good at picking out lies, if that's a concern.

[impetere]

[It is, but at the same time it isn't. She's also not sure she wants to subject Allison to a human lie detector unless it really matters anyway. She's also surprised he's just offering when he doesn't really know her but apparently being good with Lemon is enough.

(Or maybe it's, you know, being Abigail's friend, but that's not the thing that comes to mind.)]

It is. I'll keep that in mind.

[don't be silly cora, it's the abigail's friend thing. although lemon seeming to like her doesn't hurt. ~dogs sense people.~]

[and ... he's out of things to say now. #socially awkward lyfe.]

[It's cool, she's just going to sit here cross-legged in the middle of the library and play with his dogs. She'll be quiet for the most part until the point where she just has to ask ... ]

Where do you find them? The dogs, I mean. Do you adopt them from a pound or something?

[mydesigns]

They're strays. Lemon was a lurker at the Shadowkind shelter that took me in, and took a clear liking to me. The other ones I found going back and forth into London. They were just playing on the road together. Any other dogs are just other people's around here following me in hopes of treats, I guess.

[impetere]

[She nods slowly at that, stroking a hand over Lemon's fur again.]

And you don't get in trouble for just taking them?

[mydesigns]

They're strays. No chips or collars or anything. Lemon kind of belonged to the shelter, but he showed clear favoritism towards me, so there wasn't any really arguing when I took him here with me.
