[ It seems that Wynn was hoping for Sir Mark Sandazhard to reveal his true identity, and to lead the charge against Dimitris Sarandis' tyrannical hold over the island he was born to rule.   He was not disappointed, and Prince Marcus Andres stands poised to lead the group of Knights who he's worked beside for two years, to confront Sarandis, save their friend Kat, and search the castle dungeon for the captive Dragon's Claw, Sir Thomas Bancroft.    

Before they attempt to answer the castle, however, it's time to reunite the Prince with his childhood friends on the Isle, who had long held out hope that he was still alive, including his once-betrothed, Countess Lara Tamon.  Their first task will be to convince Lara to make a risky attempt to draw Kat out of the castle.  

The fate of their captured allies, and the future of Andres Isle, lie in their hands.  ]

[ Chad. She lets the tension drain out of her shoulders, a certain amount of relief replacing it. He's harmless, at the very least. Stepping forward the rest of the way, she reaches out to cover Myri's hand with hers, a gentle gesture for her to move her hand. Once Myri's safely out of the way, Buffy gives the cell door a good, solid yank (str 29). ]

[ he flinches visibly at the noise, as she pulls the door off its hinges entirely.

the interior of his cell is telling. nothing but an iron pail in one corner and the shitty remains of bones on a plate thrown in another - and then the marks on the walls. tally marks that must number in the hundreds. ]

Draken Crombe. That rotten would be evangelist or whatever he considers himself. He had her plumb my mind for every last secret so that he could pretend to be me.

She follows him everywhere, weaving her damn illusion. They stole my company.

[Des looks so offended, because holy shit this is a serious revelation. Everything they know is a lie. Everything is NOT spiders or doppelgangers, IT'S MOTHERFUCKING RELIGIOUS ZEALOTS AND THEIR LITTLE PSYCHICS TOO.] That snakey bitch.

[He groans and rubs his face.] That's why we found that crap in his office. Crombe trying to keep his facts straight. Jesus Christ, it was in front of our face the whole damn time.

[While everyone has a moment of great revelation, Myri carefully slips through the very open doorway (thanks Buffy) and moves towards him, crouch beside him and doing her best to not look threatening which... isn't hard for Myri.]

It's been some time since they worked me over. I'm probably due for another soon. But I'm... not injured, at the moment, no.

[ She looks back at the others like ahHAHAH iron golems. Glancing back at Chad, she approaches with Myri, crouching down and offering him a sympathetic look. ]

We're kind of headed in the opposite direction. Like, further in, and then out. Which despite the suicidal sound of it? Is probably your best bet.

[ Reaching out, she offers him a hand. ]

We can get you home. But you have to trust us.

Blondie... [Des glances down the hall.] Look, the safest place for the poor bastard is probably down here away from the fighting. With everything we've just ran into, we can't protect each other and him.

[He glances at Chad.] No offense, but if you'd seen some of the shit we've seen, you'd agree you'd want no part of that action. The fighting's gonna be over soon and you'll be able to rest assured that the people who did this to you are well on their way to being taken care of. Personally, I'd like to see you and your jackass of a brother hug it out.

[ his eyes widen a bit at the obviously terrible prospect of waiting here in his cell, but he weighs it against the alternative, hesitating. ]

I think I'll take my chances down here, then.

You can leave your cage, at least! Maybe get a bit of exercise. Too bad a shower's probably out of the question... [Spike is the most helpful.]

So, wait I'm confused. Is the part about you being a total ass-douche fake, too? Because I'm told the fake you is more of a prick than your brother. Whom - while we're on the subject - I still need to shoot and/or go drinking with.

Archer. [ mom-voice activate. gar curls one hand around the bars as she looks at chad sympathetically. ] We're so sorry we didn't look for you sooner. All this time, we suspected-- well, anything but this, really. Draken Crombe's been using your identity to assume a great deal of power over the entertainment industry, in some sort of... mind control plot, the scope of which we're still puzzling out years later. I'm afraid he's exploited the rift that already existed between you and your brother - even he never suspected that you were-- well... not you. Probably because he was inclined to, er... believe the worst.

[Des still looks like he's going to be ill, because goddammit, he should have known this.] We'll get 'em back.

[It's both a response to Gar's apology and a reassurance for Chad. For now, he's going to continue on down the hall.]

Am I the only one who really hates the idea of leaving anyone alone in Chateau de Big Bad?

[ Like. ok it's chad's choice and all but now that des is literally hiking off as if that's that she's just going to point it out like ??? werwatey ??? he could run away and get killed ??? Someone could come retrieve him while they're distracted? Double-kidnapping all the way across the sky ?? ]

[Des stops and sighs.] If we leave him here, there's a chance they'll leave him alone- they've got bigger issues and if he's safe in his cell, they can just deal with him later. If he's with us, we'll paint a target on his back. No matter how useful he is to them alive, they won't want us taking him and finding out anything else about their pla. It's a risky move either way, but with us, there's absolutely no guaranteeing his safety. Here, he's got a shot. It's not an ideal situation, but what about this is?

Not to mention I am personally not to hurry to run straight at those who've been holding me captive for the last three years.

[Spike says as if that's not his default mood. He shrugs a shoulder and pulls his gun out again.]

[Satisfied with that, Des presses on, a cold edge in his tone when he speaks.] She's got worse things to worry about than you.
