[ The two groups tasked to deal with the denizens of the Shadow Village arrive on the bank of the river that bisects the capitol city of Andres in half.  The river slopes down from the woods and city around it, meaning that they're afforded a bit of concealment here, unless anyone stood at the top and looked down.  At this hour of the night, however, there's no one around.   Dovan grumbles a bit about 'blasted magic' as they shake off the disorienting sense of vertigo, while Koraith waits for Belle to confirm they've arrived in the right place.  She pats Gold on the arm as she pulls out her phone, and moments later, she nods to the others in confirmation.

The water laps gently nearby against the rocks, and in the distance, a bridge is visible that links the segregated Shadow village with its thatched roof houses, to the city proper, which seems lined with wealthy manor homes.  ]

Or they already had plans for tonight. [ She looks over at him. ] If they do have some kind of organization within the village, there might be meetings.

[ the woman who opens the door at stiles' insistent knock is easily recognizable as an elf unless you crit fail your spot check. she opens the door only half a crack, and she looks almost terrified, as she wraps her robe around herself, glancing out.

"Can I help you?" ]

Oh! Hey! [Wow that worked. Also he didn't fail his spot check so hey elf lady hey.] Sorry to wake you, but-- [But what Stiles? He has literally no plan for how to ease into SO WE HEARD YOU HATE EVIL DICTATORS. He glances at Lydia like uhhh??? Little help with the starter here maybe?]

[ She holds up her hands quickly, exhaling a beat later. She looks over at Stiles, drumming up an explanation, then back at the elf woman inside. Who she knows is an elf because she rolled a 2 spot check for a total of 8. Nailed it. ]

We’re … New to the island. We were hoping you could help us with something.

[ That should be speak for itself, right? This place is North fucking Korea after all. ]

[ she looks confused for a moment, before her eyes widen and she looks at them both, a little uncertain.

"New?" new as in fresh off the boat or new as in took the foggy veil train ... ]

[Stiles can tell where her question lies (wis 18) and he's honestly not sure what story is better. But one is slightly more truthful and he's not really looking to lie.]

It's... kind of complicated. Can we come in? [diplomacy 25. Totally trustworthy teenagers up in here.]

It's really not the kind of thing we should be clarifying out here. Or so I've been told.

[ wow she rolled a 19, so she's still not sure how she feels about y'all, so she says quietly: ] Just a minute. [ before shutting the door again. there's an awkward thirty second beat before she opens it once more. ] Ok. [ she gestures for them to come inside, to what is probably like a four room little home. one of the doors is shut, while another leads into a bathroom. the combo kitchen/living room/dining room is where they find themselves, and it's void of any modern accessories whatsoever. it's like walking into the shadow world tbh. beautiful elven art decorates the walls here and there, though, and it's definitely clean and well kept. ]

[Longest thirty seconds ever. Stiles is half a second from asking if Lydia wants to try the house next door when elf lady shows back up and ushers them in. He flashes a grateful smile and lets Lydia go first, because he's a fucking gentleman okay. And also it's a protective thing.]

Thanks. We really appreciate it. [Ooh, look- pretty artwork.] How long have you lived here? [Awkward small talk/feeling her out???]

[ While Stiles is slightly awkward, Lydia makes herself at home as she walks into the house, casually glancing around and scoping the place out. She steps close to some of the art to take a look, letting Stiles do the talking to get her comfortable with them. ]

[And just before the door closes, because David is massive and likes to make an entrance, and he actually tracked the two reckless teenagers down fairly easily (search 20 total), his hand catches it. Giant Viking, hanging out in armor, no big deal.

He glances to both Lydia and Stiles as well as, before turning to the elf lady with a nice smile. He likes elves. He had a lot of elf allies in Everworld (diplomacy 24).]

[Sadly he does not speak Elvish, the elves he knew spoke Gaelic.]

[ the woman does a double-take when david walks in, stopping from where she intended to answer stiles to flash the newcomer a somewhat dazed looking smile, as she not too subtly gives him a quick once-over. hello~ ]

Another... friend of yours, I take it?

[See Stiles. See Stiles picking up what's going on. (sense mo...tive? whatever he got a nat 20. HE KNOWS). Moving to David's side, he puts one hand on the Viking's back and wraps the other around his impressive bicep and just guides David further into the room.]

He is! [Just going to play this up.] This is David and he is helping us gather forces to try to take a stand against Sarandis. So we've obviously got the muscle... But we're trying to see if we can find people on this side of town to help the cause. You wouldn't happen to know anyone that's tired of the way things are run around here, would you?

[And he gets a 27 to diplomacy to make that sound like a great plan, I guess.]

[Shockingly, David knows what's going on to boot (sense motive 18 - we're sticking with sense motive, it makes sense). He lets Stiles guide him, and will do his best to play along, but he's kind of hopeless. He's not really good at flirting, exactly, and should probably just let Stiles do the talking because he seems a little awkward about being dangled in front of her like catnip (charisma ... 6).]

We want to try and gather as much help as we can, as well as protect those who can't fight.

[This seems ... slightly familiar though so he's just going to let Stiles keep talking.]

[ she looks between the two of them, but her gaze mostly sticks on david, sry. that's happening. ] You're... you're here to revolt against the Prime Minister? [ her eyebrows climb up to her hairline, and she looks nervous, but seems to realize this isn't a trap and they're being legit (sense motive nat 20!!!) ] I can't believe what I'm hearing. I didn't... didn't really think anyone cared about us down here. About what they've been doing.

That's the thing about totalitarian government control of information. You don't really know what's going on out there. And right now, we can tell you that out there? Is an army waiting to bring this little island's Hitler-light to justice.

[ She turns away from the painting, stepping up alongside Stiles. ]

But it's not our island to take: it's yours. We can only help you win it.

We can arm anyone who fights with us, and help evacuate anyone who can't or won't. Any chance you know who to call to rally the troops around here?

[Secret organization, yes. But sometimes you need to roll with it and hope for the best. And, well, David's standing there in Knights of the Silver Dragon Scalemail^TM with a sword strapped to his back, if it's not obvious then what can you do. And if this backfires, well, he'll deal with it.]

[ Painfully deadpan. Well, maybe now's not the time. Assuming elf-lady picks up on that, Lydia just barrels ahead. ]

Anira Dilant. I'm sorry, it's just-- [ a bright smile lifts her expression, and she shakes her head laughing ] We always figured you were more of a fairy tale. My sister's heard things. [ if you think this is going to help the starry eyed way she looks at david u r wrong ] She and I can go door to door, gather the elves together, at least. Not everyone particularly... gets along with our kind, even here. I've a feeling any of the more war-like races would laugh in our faces if we showed up on their door, saying we intended revolution of any sort.

You have somewhere for us to go, then? Those who-- those who shouldn't be in the middle of all this?
