[at some point, within a day or two after her rez, alex makes a point of knocking on her door like]

Hey, kid. I brought food.

[ he'll hear the steady pounding of her tiny fists against the bag before it stops. ]

Come in! [ annnnnnnnnnd then it starts again. thud thud thud. ]

[ambitionist]

[he drops a brown paper bag on her bed, then sits on it and fishes through it for himself. he also has one of those like drink carrying tray things.] Bagels. There's one for Skye, too, whenever she's around. And coffee.

[it's not morning ftr. it's just always time for coffee and bagels to alex.]

[felidity]

She's in the computer lab, I think. [ she doesn't move away from the bag, however, maintain her steady assault on it, fists pounding into it. jab, cross, jab, jab, hook, jab. ]

[ambitionist]

Cool. [well he's not gonna wait for her to eat his own bagel. tbh. nom nom.] You really have it in for that bag, huh?

[felidity]

No. It's an inanimate object, I have no feelings toward it one way or another. [ didn't you miss that painful literalness. ]

[ambitionist]

You just seem kinda mad. [sometimes alex can be really insightful ... but not today laughs at his wis roll of 6]

[felidity]

What would I be mad about? [ tbf if the punching bag were a person it would have irreparable brain damage by now. ]

[ambitionist]

Our home got invaded and partially destroyed by a guy who acts like a fuckin' cartoon villain, you died ...

[felidity]

[ she shrugs, turning it into a little bob and weave as she continues to hit. ]

But I came back. Like it never happened.

[ambitionist]

Are you mad that you got rezzed?

[felidity]

No. I'm mad that I died to begin with. [ mad, sad, traumatized beyond belief, something like that. ]

[ambitionist]

[deliberately trying to be gentle and tactful] Makes sense. I'm glad you're here now, though.

[felidity]

[ she stills with her fist still pressed against the bag, still avoiding looking at alex. ]

I don't get it. We were made, like Legos. You can't bring a Lego back, it's just a Lego.

[ambitionist]

Lila thinks it doesn't matter. You were born, so you have a soul. Legos weren't born.

[felidity]

But-- [ but she has nothing to say to that because no one has ever used that simple, basic logic against her. she draws her hand back, finally turning to face alex. ]

I like when the world is in small parts, like pieces of a cake. This feels too big, like the whole cake.

[ambitionist]

Yeah ... it's some heavy shit. [he scrunches his nose and takes another bite out of his bagel before adding,] I don't really like it either.

[felidity]

[ instead of moving to sit next to alex, she stays standing where she is, methodically unwrapping the tape from her hands. ]

You played Frozen. You hate Frozen.

[ambitionist]

I don't hate Frozen.

[felidity]

You make a face whenever I ask you to watch it with me like you've pulled a muscle. [ she's positive he hates frozen. ]

[ambitionist]

I mean, it does lose a little bit of its charm after the eightieth time you watch it ...

[and then he abruptly clears his throat.]

I figured ... you would've wanted it. I think everyone thought I'd lost my mind and I'm pretty sure Solace wanted to strangle me, but whatever.

[felidity]

I liked it. It felt, I don't know. Normal. [ however normal waking up from being dead can be, but it was definitely grounding. ]

[ambitionist]

Then it was worth it.

[felidity]

[ she has to cross the room to drop the tape in the trash which is next to her bed so she perches on the bed next to him, not reaching for her bagel right away. she pulls her legs up to sit crosslegged, watching her hands in her lap. ]

Everything feels weird now and I don't know how to fix it.
