[Spike's met Shayla several times now, but never for long enough to, in his mind, count. Everything's been so crazy. But now he finally has a bit of time free, and Rose is back (which he's not sure is a good thing, but he's willing to be happy about until the other shoe drops) and though there's still a lot to be done, none of it's so urgent that it can't wait for a bit while he gets to know Myri's child.

He brings up a tub of ice cream and some spoons, then lets himself into Myri's room.]

Brought you something, love. How's Shayla?

[witchwoman]

[Glancing up as he enters, Myri smiles immediately at the sight of Spike, waving him to come closer. They're both on her bed, Shayla laying on her back on the blankets.]

She just woke up from a nap, actually. And I was just thinking about how good ice cream sounded. How did you know?

[bigbad]

Lucky guess. Who among us can't use a bit of ice cream around now?

[He hands the stuff over to her and sits down, reaching forward to tickle Shayla's tummy.]

Though it can't be nearly as delicious as this little mouthful. Hello, there, gorgeous.

[witchwoman]

[Handle animal will tell him how well she responds to him!]

Yes, and now you can properly meet her, instead of through a little screen.

[bigbad]

[Handle animal 15! He picks her up carefully and sits on the bed.] Far better. Especially since now she can see me too.

[witchwoman]

Yes, and she seems to be taking to you. [Shayla isn't all big grins with him, but a quiet sort of seriousness, like she's trying to figure out how those cheekbones are even real.]

Do you want me to make you a bowl?

[bigbad]

Bowl?

[He's a bit distracted, getting to know the baby. He looks up at her, blinking in confusion, then sees the ice cream. That he brought.]

Oh... yeah. Right. Thanks, love.

[witchwoman]

[She laughs a bit as she goes to make some ice cream for the both of them.]

Are you back for good? Or will you be going back out to be wth Nadia again?

[bigbad]

Haven't fully discussed it with Wynn yet. [He glances down at the baby.] But I don't think I could leave while everything's in such turmoil.

[witchwoman]

I would really prefer you didn't, but... I know it's not always that simple.

[bigbad]

It's never simple. [He sticks a spoon into the ice cream sourly.] But I want to stay. She said she'd be all right on her own.

[He just isn't sure he believes her.]

[witchwoman]

[Myri isn't sure if she believe it either. But she's feeling a bit selfish right now.]

It's good to see you either way. How was it? Out there with her?

[bigbad]

Different. But there were definitely fun parts. Got to go to a lot of concerts.

[witchwoman]

I imagine so. You're probably an expert on her music by now.

[bigbad]

The stuff without traces of mind control in it, anyway. She's bloody brilliant.

[witchwoman]

Once things are more...settled, I'll have to give it a closer listen. I feel like every time I've had the chance to hear her sing, we've been in the middle of some life or death mission.

[bigbad]

When are we not? [He grimaces, glancing up at the ceiling.] Apparently we don't get days off around here.

[witchwoman]

Sadly, the world remains a very dangerous place. [She glances down to look at her daughter, reminding herself of what she's trying to protect.]

But our cause is just. I have to keep telling myself that.
